This is a nice reel meant for big fish. You can still get these new for around $160 or you can get these for around $75-$100 on EBAY depending on condition. One like this would be in the upper end of that range due to the rebuild and nice condition

Hi. What do you think of the old Ryobi Adventure series reels. I just picked up an 80 and an 80L.

These reels were solid mid-range reels competitive and just below the Daiwa and Penn lines of the time. The problem is in parts availability and you will be searching for a while should a piece break - Thanks for asking - Dennis

What size pin punch are you using, and is there a good inexpensive parts cleaner? Thank you.

Hello! I got my 9/0's lure stuck on a reef and it tipped drag out for about 180 yards. it seized my handle and I disassembled it. upon inspection I didn't find any major failures and when I lived and reassembled it, the spool tends to rub on the edges no matter how I adjust my spool adjuster on the side. I'm thinking it may be a bent part, what would you suggest checking?

You may have pulled the spool out of true. If you are in free spool and spin the spool without the gears engaged, you would see a noticeable wobble if it is not true. That could cause the chirp. You may be able to relieve that by taking off the line and re-spooling it. If the snag pulled the line too hard, it could have put pressure on the spool sides as it tightened down or compacted the line as a result. Try that as a solution. Last, I would check the yoke, That is the piece that could be bent the easiest and a bent your would cause the pinion gear to go off center - that is least likely, but if the other two don't fix it, go there - Dennis

@@2ndChanceTackle Thank you very much for your reply! I pulled the line off and checked the yoke. The reel feels perfect for a random period of time and it definitely improved with the line off. Sadly it still creates a bind occasionally, I'm thinking the spool is the culprit and it's tough to justify replacing it due to scarcity and price. Thank you for your help!

The Penn Senator was one of the first reels that Penn started manufacturing in the 1930s for big game. The one I did was from the 1980's. You can still buy a new 9/0 today for about $150 - Thanks for asking - Dennis
