Quaterbacks too. It comes withbthe sport. What he's recommending is to not bulk up too much and to develop arm streght before developing speed. This is true for tennis players and quaterbacks too. Look at tom brady he works out as mucb as he streches and he is a 42 yeard old QB. Look at nadal in tennis. Probably the most swole player im the tour but also having surgeries left and right. @@TheRoadLessChosen if you pronate your arm a lot, where do you feel the strain? In the forearm and the front of the shoulder. When the front of the shoulder is sore, it's usually a strained AC or Anterior capsule.Koehler had a severe sprain of the AC and soon retired after this injury. When throwing, it's best not to supinate or pronate your arm too much. If you can get movement on the ball without that kind of arm action, your chances of avoiding injury increases a lot.

    Pedro was a great pitcher, but once again, when ex-players want to give mechanics lessons they say what is theoretically correct but in no case what they did. In case of Pedro, he would throw with a poor mechanic for his elbow, look for images of Pedro and they will see that his elbow is in the same position as Tom Koehler. Council boys, an image speaks more than a thousand words, do not do what they say, do what they did.

    cbncrazy I think you're thinking of arm slot. Because you dont throw a curveball or slider in the same arm slot as a fastball obviously. But Pedro's mechanics for his size were completely efficient. He used as much legs and torso as anyone. Look at how big his follow through were when he really clocked it with a fastball. He would spin damn near all the way to first base.

  • @tylervolentine1286

    @tylervolentine1286

    I'm pretty sure his arm slot is the same on his curve/slider - its called tunneling of the pitch. It is slightly different yes due to the arm not extending fully on breaking pitches but its not something you should be conscious of. I've seen pitchers with great stuff get lit up because they cannot tunnel their pitches effectively.

    I was clocked at 80mph when I was 14. I had very little guidance growing up and a lot of time playing around with friends. 14 was when I developed persistent rotator cuff issues. I continued to play through high school, but my shoulder never healed, and I kept getting pushed lower on the team. Every throw felt like getting stabbed in the back of my shoulder, but I loved the game that I just dealt with the immense pain. A couple years ago, when I was 29, I picked up a game of catch with someone at a party, and my god was the ball zipping out of my hand with minimal effort. I haven't played before or since. It makes me sad to think what could have happened if I took care of my arm when I was young.

He really means the muscles that are protecting the ligaments and strengthening those muscles who’s tendons connect closely around the ligaments to protect them. A really great and important discussion to be had by one of the best!

    When I started weight training, the first advice I was given was: never forget to exercise and strengthen your ligaments, because without them, all your muscles are useless. I made sure to stretch and do ligament-strengthening exercises, and it really helped with keeping me limber while also not tearing anything.

    This is so important for young kids to see. If you're coaching kids show your pitchers this. It's the worst thing in the world to see a 20 year old with those elbow scars because everyone who coached him emphasized power over safety

  • @galaxia_fe

    This happens a lot in weightlifting as well. Nowadays you’ll see many young kids with muscle tears specifically in the bicep or chest. It’s kids as early as 15 with these types of injuries. As Pedro mentioned, the muscle can get huge, but it doesn’t matter since the ligament is still underdeveloped. Combine with the usage of PED’s and you have a recipe for disaster.
