One year we thought we were going swimming in the high country and when we got there it was snowing! We all had our bathing suits on. 😂 1:45 The high sierra’s are no joke! Thank you Jesus for watching over you all those miles. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

That was truly scary. You do have a guardian angel, no question. So grateful you are safe.

7:24 What an incredible view of the High Sierra! Thank you for sharing your amazing stories from the heavy weather that you were outside experiencing. I love the rain, yeah when I’m safe and warm at home behind double glazed glass!

For several episodes you had been talking about the High Sierra. In this episode you finally arrived ... to the low end of the High Sierra ... 3,- to 4,000 feet higher than anything you experienced in the Cascades. Donohue and Island Passes are usually some of the easier passes to negotiate, but as you experienced, things can turn nasty in a heartbeat even up at the "lower" elevations. So happy you all got through it OK. If you ever have a chance, Jack, I hope you'll have a chance to return to the Sierra someday and walk the High Sierra route. I would love to see your photography from those higher elevations closer to the crest.

Really frightening to know that the mountains can still and will always humble us. So glad you were all safe.

Thanks for sharing the “Scare.” I have experienced a little of that in Goat Rocks area. It was raining, and I was soaked with sweat….not the rain. Shivering. Set up camp in the rain, took off my top clothing and warmed up, or seemingly. I dug out a dry seater and was immediately warm. Started a roaring campfire and was good. Your story with the high wind was scary. As you suggested……you can’t cheat the mountains!

Mind my asking what date you were crossing the San Joaquin middle fork by the broken bridge? Looks do-able to me. I should be there in late August 2024.

don't mind what so ever! I was crossing it in early Sep it was hard to say, but that was an insane snow year so by late August I don't see you having any issues!
