    I'm fascinated to know how they know gold was first discovered in Easter Europe around 4000 B.C.

  • @MrSCOTTtheSCOT

    @MrSCOTTtheSCOT

    I guess its first discovered on each Continent at a certain time, when people went and found some, I mean it was first "discovered" and recorded in America in 1799AD they don't say gold was first discovered on earth, just i guess location discovery go on historic artefacts or lumps been found and recorded as been applied to the wealth of an individual., I reckon stone-age hunters gathers probably found gold and didn't realise what they had as it was just a shiny rock with no "monetary" material worth, just something that caught the eye until metallurgical skills and jewellery or blade making made some things more appealing. We know from ancient texts the early middle eastern tribes and nations all loved gold and considered it a luxury item of wealth indication for kings and high nobility, and religious artefacts from goblets, crosses , temple ornaments , rings, torqs and bracelets as well as trinkets etc dating back a few thousands BC.

    At 2:50 Ricks in an antique shop and tells the guy an item he likes is worth more. That is something I would never do, Half the fun of antique shops is to get bargains once in a while. It's part of the business. The owners of these places do exactly the same thing, they look for bargains too. Sometimes I overpay, sometimes I underpay. But I never feel like I'm ripping off someone just because they gave me a good deal. I never really understood why some people think you are ripping them off. Especially when they are in the antique business and they listed a sale price for it. Does the amount paid have to be close to it's value or you are ripping them off ? Or vice versa ? I don't think so. Now if you try to buy something from someone who was not selling and has no idea of it's worth, and you offer peanuts, that's different. But to me items with a price tag on them are fair game.
