They coordinate the shoot, and already know the items being offered, so their experts and "stars" already have the info. The experts will do their research and be ready for the shoot. If these pieces are so rare and so valuable... then why, oh why... are they trying to move them in a PAWN SHOP?!? To a PAWN BROKER?!? Even the most famous pawn shop in the world, is still just a pawn shop. They shouldn't even have to tell you that they have to make money. And these self entitled snobs stick to their guns, and walk away broke and empty handed. Like J.G. Wentworth clients, they NEED CASH NOW.

@@hammer44head, now that you mention it, if someone has an inflated idea of the value of what they have, and are derisive of the value you put on it... Is that snobbish? Now I'm not sure. There ARE collector's shops. With jewelry, you'll get a much better deal at a jeweler's, for cash or trade. I've worked for Long's Jeweler's and they will bend over backwards to give you a fair deal. Selling a CAR to a pawnshop?!? These sellers are starving and desperate for cash, NOW.

Then getting butthurt and angry that they dont buy it for that much or at all!! I really don't believe a lot of the appraisers on this show. "In my opinion;" Rick; when he calls and the appraiser to come over, I think he tells the appraiser what he wants to pay over the phone. I think that the appraiser low-balls the piece so that Rick can negotiate a price that is lower than a third, possibly 25% of what it's true value is, and then the appraiser will get a cut of the profit. I'm probably wrong, but I just get that feeling.

One of my great Uncles picked it up at the Battle of San Jacinto. Back in 1996 my studio burned and I lost a great deal of historical artifacts. What survived I sent off to museums and the Brown Bess I donated to the NRA Museum. Now I regret it and should have donated it to the Alamo Museum. Back before I sent to the NRA around early 1980's the Alamo museum said they had no room for it in their collection. It seems they have a great deal of items in storage or just were amateurs running it at the time. Now I wish I still had it!
