I saw this when it aired and one moment has always stayed with me: Costas quoting an obscure Paul Simon song by heart and Simon feeling flattered. Between Costas having a say in who’s booked (people he’s already a fan of) and Costas doing research on guests ahead of time, “Later” had a lot of moments like this. Costas was a great interviewer!

My goodness, the times when guests were actually given the time and space to ponder, to say intelligent things slowly and paced. This is a conversation with depth, not a fast food tidbit.

This third part of the interview reveals a rather mature writer looking back and defending past thoughts and media quotes in an honest manner--to say Paul Simon is profound is an understatement.

One Trick Pony is a movie made by a musician, about musicians, and for musicians. As a musician myself for over 40 years, it's one of my favorite movies ever. Just love it!

It definitely was a movie with a pretty limited audience. Not a bad movie, just really a niche picture.

I didn’t understand until recently just how fun Paul Simon is to listen to speak. His music is out of this world astounding. Most people my age or older know that. I am born in 72. Anyway. He is so fun to listen to speak as well.

I wish Costas would have continued as an interviewer on this show. Regarding Paul's thoughts on Dylan, he is very accurate in describing Dylan's voice conveying different meanings at once. Dylan has greatly made up for any past indiscretions on other songwriters, first in his book Chronicles, Vol 1, his 100 radio shows on a cross section of music that influenced him, and now on his recently released The Philosophy Of Modern Music, riffing on the greatness of 66 curated songs. Well done Bob. You are a class act educator.

One Trick Pony was a good movie, very well reviewed -- two thumbs up from Siskel and Ebert. That it wasn't a hit is no strike against its quality. Lots of good movies are not great commercial successes.

i've been a fan of paul simon and art garfunkel for 50 odd years...not so much a fan of paul simon as a communicator, but this series of interviews has changed my opinion, simon is relaxed unbuttoned and intelligent on the history of music and his place in it.
