Buy/Listen: bobdylan.lnk.t...
About the Album:
More Blood, More Tracks is the latest chapter in Columbia/Legacy’s highly acclaimed Bob Dylan Bootleg Series. This album contains the pivotal studio recordings made by Bob Dylan during six extraordinary sessions in 1974-four in New York (September 16, 17, 18, 19) and two in Minneapolis (December 27, 30)-that resulted in the artist’s 1975 masterpiece, Blood On The Tracks.

    Bob Dylan's first album sold an average of one copy per record store after it was shipped and John Hammond still told Columbia "We must keep him. He is the future of American music."; takes a genius to know a genius.

    Some he signed just didn’t develop under contract with Columbia, but that wasn’t John’s fault. Aretha comes to mind. Columbia released her, two Arabs and a Jew snatched her up and took her to Muscle Shoals and BAM! Aretha, baby!

    I just played this album over and over on a road trip. It’s such a brilliantly complete album. The title suggests there has been an accident, someone got hurt, and the songs start blue and contemplative, get a little irate, then cheer up, chill out, offer sanctuary, and end on a light hearted note. It’s a very healing album. I love it.

    I still remember going through my older brothers albums looking for something interesting to play on my record player...I was 15. It was 1977 and i had no idea who Bob Dylan was..since I was into poetry, it was the album cover and the album title that caught my eye and interest. I took the album to my room and put it on...tangled up in blue came on and I couldn't believe it...I was mesmerized. Every song was captivating and a feast for the ears and heart. I'm 57 now..still a fan. Once Bob came to my town and I gave a book to his tour bus people to give to Bob...I wonder if he ever got it💘

    John Hammond..a true "New York" icon, showman, genius and musical historian. "Blood on the Tracks" was the first Super Audio CD that I ever purchased (back in 2005). Just about every track got played on the local FM station when I was in college, so I never bought the original LP since radio was always playing it. I fell in love with it the first time I heard "Tangled Up in Blue" while eating a cheeseburger at the student union.

    Sincerity? Ya think so? I seems like sleazy record company spin to me. They're talking about one of the greatest albums ever, but I think they would manage to fake equal enthusiasm if they were talking about "Self Portrait." This video is about the planned marketing of the album--I'm not sure who the intended audience was (Columbia salesmen , maybe?), not about musical excellence. I know who John Hammond was, but don't forget he was at heart a record company employee, whose job was to sell product. Sometimes, as in this case, that product just happened to be one of the greatest albums of all time, by one of the greatest artists ever.

    Hammond said "This album, unlike any album that's cut with groups these days, was finished in five days and mixed in two days." but I knew the final record was recorded in two sessions: NYC in September and Minneapolis in December. So actually "finished" in over three months, and that made me think perhaps this interview was recorded before the Mpls sessions. But now I see Hammond was likely thinking about the actual days in the studio that the label would have to pay for, and that would indeed be five days: New York Sept 16, 17, 19, and Minneapolis December 27, 30.

    I think they were talking about the final version. They referenced how it switched back and forth between acoustic and electric and how the album was recorded over five days (the acetate version was recorded over three days).

    I remember being 18 yrs old and discovering blood on the tracks. I just started smoking weed and I don't think I came out of my room for a week. I remember opening the liner notes and reading Pete Hamil's essay on Dylan. I thought this isn't just a songwriter.

    Absolutely, Blonde on Blonde is a ground breaking album. First double album and every song is a classic. "Visions of Johanna" proved that Dylan is the greatest song writer/poet to ever live.

    I believe his earliest albums were just amazing and influential. Another Side of BD, Highway 61 and Blonde on Blonde were absolute game changers that arrived in a span of about 18 months- Absolute Brilliance. There are other highlights and live performances not to be forgotten. And then There is Blood On The Tracks. It's his most intimate album by a country mile and unique in that regard. It's a jewel of an album in either released or unreleased versions. It wasn't a game changer, but it is his masterpiece and speaking for myself, the songs never grow old in a very personal sense. I've listened to so much Dylan over the years, I believe I could almost play all the early Dylan albums back in my mind and hear them as if they were on the stereo. Blood On The tracks hits myself and many people closer to the core. It arrives on a different level.

    The best thing about Idiot Wind is that after all the terrible shit said, he says he is sorry. 10/10 album

  • @jj80808

    @jj80808

    Idk if he says sorry per se,if you take it as face value about being about a relationship he's actually pretty unaccountable for his actions in the song (as he/most often tend to be after breakups if we're being honest, and made no mistake I wouldn't rather it any other way) but the end where he admits they're both idiots is the perfect climax. That song sums up a breakup better than any song before or since, with the exception MAYBE of another bob dylan track.

    Too many quotable gems to even list a dozen in one comment but the "idiot wind blowing through the flowers on your tomb" line always strikes me. How the hell could you even think of someone you once loved so dearly and feared ever losing's death?!? Because that's what heartbreak does to you.

    BLOOD was the breakthrough TRACKS of our times...change from 60's to 70's to 80's.. My grandfather promoted great Violinist of 20th century and company was sold to become Columbia with 4 other outfits combined... I grew up 60's with Dylan Lennon Hendrix triumvirate of rock.. now in my 60's I write 400+ songs in the past 10 years.. and am producing fine songs with absolutely no sales.. and average 50 video tub views.. Yet this is not about sales, for whats really important? Its about content and construction, building something real.. In my (paneaglesong) case its all free music provided for any form or adaptation by media artists, and non-commercial value, its development of a real NU View and Tru Altitude of freedom and "spiritual" vision but as inspired as Dylan was for us all, now it is here all the more in the ALL IS...that is what we share... please hear some of the paneaglesong on yutu including when elvis was king, and make no mistakes, and HEY from the Treasure Tree .
