Don't ever think somebody's not going to believe you. It happened to me I didn't wait. The minute it happened I told. That's actually a lot. Most times; it's never even prosecuted. When there is a conviction; it's usually pleaded down to simple assault with no reference to sexual assault or sexual battery. This charge is easy to get expunged and is really of no consequence to the convicted. There are thousands of cases when the accused admits to sexual assault and is still only charged with simple assault.

One thing I notice public schools never do, they don't have Sexual Trauma experts going into the classes and teaching the students about what is appropriate and non appropriate behavior from adults who are in authority. Why???

This happened to me at 14 years old. Continued till i was 16, after he convinced me to drop out of high school, and join the military. When she says i hated myself.. i never told although he did go to prison for misconduct with another student. Still healing, 13 years later.

I have even a scarier story: my daughter turn 18 during her Sr. Year in high school, very intelligent, excelled in whatever she did etc. but, in middle school counselor dismissed her anxiety for "just a teen attitude" & told her that I was overwhelmed as a mom etc. my daughter's mind was "poisoned " from that moment on... I tried to seek solutions because, as a mom, I watch as she was growing more anxious & confused & no-school counselor or doctors would listen to me😤. The years went by, she always succeeded in school with outstanding results but it was at home she would "explode"... etc. finally she saw a psychiatrist & therapist but, as per California law, she was 16 & had the "right" to tell the doctors not to let me know was she was diagnosed with or what pills she was taking etc. the only time the psychiatrist said anything to me was " she's an AP student with outstanding citizenship" & was headed to great universities" ... to make a long story a little shorter & many issues in between she ended up graduating flying colors in June. By late sept. She was pregnant by her "ex teacher from her Sr. year! Everyone knew bout this "relationship" during the year & it began when she was 17! My daughter was extremely vulnerable with a serious anxiety disorder & this "Teacher" a "42, married with2 kids, Became her "confident father figure & telling her he was going through tough times also etc. tc. (We all know the BS drill) " & knowing that a teacher & married man shouldn't cross this line EVER! All the school would tell me was "she's 18 & not his student anymore". I was besides myself with disgust. After many battles etc., I got him removed from teaching at that school (I have 2 other children in the same district) but he is an ROP & they told me that he will be able to continue having contact with children because he belongs to an "outside organization" to teach ROP classes: I'm still disgusted with the system & that "individual" that knowing took advantage of a fragile mind, even if she did turn 18! Due to age... he never spent a day in jail, at least I got him out of out school district. I know not much but more than nothing. It's been 5 years, my grandson is a gift from God, my daughter works full time, lives on her own & has been in therapy ever since. She's still scared of him, he doesn't pay child support & is not allowed near my grandson!

So is there no criminal background check for teachers through the states? Police officers, insurance brokers, lenders and even Realtors have to pass a criminal background check to be licensed. Is there no such vetting and licensing process for teachers?

Michael Delaware Ig Criminal background checks, only reveal crimes one has been convicted of. And sometimes it will reveal a major investigation. But that only works when the crimes are reported. The school boards tend to keep these things quiet. They rather the teacher just leave. To avoid litigation.

I did a presentation about the process to get a teacher fired and it was illuminating. Passing the trash, the dance of the lemons, rubber rooms, etc. teacher unions are strong so it’s almost impossible to fire s teacher no matter what they “allegedly” did. Even teachers convicted of a crime are hard to fire.

Absolutely- a United States Teacher reporting center. So that teachers are held accountable everywhere.

If I was her dad, that dude would be found dead in the trash dumpster.

VERY sad. She was easily impressionable/vulnerable and beautiful. She says she "wishes she had someone to tell her to speak up at the time". Our daughter had the same situation with her teacher in HS (The New Gate School, Sarasota, Fl)-- and I WAS THERE for our daughter to speak to!! Her father was, as well! We asked her daily/nightly how her day was at school and if that creepy teacher was hitting on her. She lied over and over-- and made us feel as though WE were crazy to even ask such a question. She constantly told us WE had mental problems and were just paranoid/over-protective parents. I went to the headmaster (twice) with my concerns-- he called me a racist (the pedophile teacher was black) and dismissed my concerns (later told FBI that I never came to him). Our daughter threatened suicide if we moved her to a new school. As parents, we were trapped. At a loss. We should've called the police but she was very good at making us feel crazy/paranoid. Very sad, as now-- eleven years later, our daughter is an absolute wreck!! Often times you simply cannot save people from THEMSELVES (including teenaged girls)!!

ONE YEAR? That's all? What BS.

Praying for you, Brave Girl and for any other victims of these disgusting, selfish, sociopathic sexual predators AKA MONSTERS!

You can see the trauma on her face, she'll never get over this.

from the look of her she has been self medicating for quite a while.

I guess I've been lucky. Went to public schools my whole life, minus high school (small independent school), and never was abused by a teacher. One did back me into a corner once, but I left. I didn't realize this until years later that he could have been trying to do something. Once I remembered that, I checked and he was no longer with the school.

My granddaughter is presently having to protect herself from two high school teachers. She’s becoming smart and reporting as soon as she recognizes these behaviors. Being as a kid she does not always see it coming. One recently offered a bribe to keep silent. Additionally, when he thought he was caught he tried to infer the blame on her. What a terrible pressure in school where she is supposed to focus on actual school work. Educate and watch your kids for behavioral changes. It’s not just about being a female teenager.

Time. I personally stay prayerful. Permission is essential. No-one wants to lose a job for disagreeing with what appears to be idolization methods, especially when they have not been given permission to speak up. It's a father's job to love their daughters right, so no-one else can fool them. Taking religion out of schools, and adding in (misdirected) sexual attraction is wrong. I think teachers need to try to be as pure as they can.
