Nice videos! Something really handy I just recently discovered about mounting carts in the Tp60 headshell: I'm not sure what other carts this will work with but for my original Sure 91E with a replacement stylus (JICO SAS/S) there is a cut out on the front of the stylus body as well as notches on either side. When using the Thorens headshell guide, the cutout aligns perfectly with the middle "post" in the window on the front of the headshell frame while looking at it upside down in the headshell guide. The 2 triangle shaped cutouts also align perfectly with the frame as well so the cart is square. This gives 3 extra points of reference and makes sure the cart is aligned absolutely perfectly - I confirmed with 2 protractors and it is spot-on! A nice little feature those engineers from the old days thought of. Cheers!

You definitely know what you are talking about, I have a speed problem, I had a Thakker 160 belt, with adjustment of the motor angle screws I got the 33pm speed to +0.2% which made the 45pm -0.3%, I just bought a proper NOS Thorens brand belt and now it runs perfectly at 45rpm but is 1.02% fast on 33rpm no matter what I do, any advice please? I assume d the real belt would be much better! Update by turning the screw beside the subplatter to the extreme left its bang on 0.0% but there's a scraping sound now from the belt lift and 45rpm speed us way off.

Thank you I normally ignore the 45 speed and use a separate turntable for 45. IMHO a manual turntable can only be "super good" at playing one speed. To play both speeds it will only be "just good" and not "super good" if you catch my drift. If you are using a phone app to assess speed throw those results out too. The general purpose sensors in your phone are simply not good enough or accurate enough to give you the numbers they do. Think of your phone as a large off center counter-weight that you are asking the turntable to spin and drag around. Because it is quite heavy and a non-symetric or calibrated device it will actually be the cause of the variations and drag you are measuring with it. Use a proper strobe which can be dowloaded online for free, it is far more accurate. Then use your ears and innate sense of pitch to assess sound and stop hunting numbers. You will soon find that your ears cannot differentiate those variances anyway so don't sweat the small stuff. Sit back and enjoy the sound😀👍

@@navydiving Thanks for your detailed reply , I used my Parks Audio Puffin speed check function and my ears on some piano pieces, I have a load of 12 inch singles and 45rpm albums so it's a pity I can't get speed accuracy at both rpms, I might go back to the Thakker belt.

@@navydivingThis video is not related to my problem. This video is about a bad motor bearing and how to fix it. My motor is probably getting low voltage or a bad capacitor or a blown motor winding.
