    Hi, Firstly thanks for all your efforts with the great informative videos! I would really appreciate some advice, I am in Thailand and bought a 2014 ranger wildtrack 2.2 120,000km. The ford dealership just links to their laptop and tells me there's no problem. Symptons: - lose of power when starting to accelerate in low gears - twice i have been approaching/going up a steep hill changed down to 2nd had no power and then down to 1st and also had no power and the vehicles stalled - slightly rough idling (only a little) and also a shudder when turning off the engine From everything I have seen online I am thinking I need to clean and blank off the EGR cooler, but I would really really appreciate some professional advice! Thanks so much in advance!

    i dont think that there is a set rule on when you should clean your intake system, but probably a good indicator is if the car is starting to get a little sluggish and using a bit more fuel then what it normally would. As for the egr, i woud be cleaning the valve when you clean the intake, and just give the return pipe a wipe out when you do

    I did this while blocking off the egr cooler on the hot side, cold side, and bypassing the egr coolers water lines. I thought while I had the car in pieces to clean up the manifold. What a waste of time. When I got my intake manifold off it wasn't as dirty as I expected on a 100,000km 3.2l 5 cylinder. I did have an electric egr delete fitted at 70,000km and that probable saved me heaps, but the effort was not worth the gain. Pretty much the worst job I've done on a vehicle and I've dropped out motors and gearboxes on any config you can think of. Oh and the black sooty shit thats in the manifold sticks to everything like shit to a blanket and is a massive pain to clean. If id known all this I would have paid some cunt to do it.

    that is a great comment, pissed myself laughing. Also made my mind up not to do it!!!!!!!! Do you have a PX2 and if so did the EGR delete make you use more fuel or make the turbo noisy. Just about to get a tune but can't seem to get a straight answer on a few PX2 things. Tuner has told me no need to put in the plates if you get the EGR closed during tune and then do water bypass.

  • @turbostyler

    @turbostyler

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@pepperdog7556 haha yeah emotions were running high when I wrote that. I've got a 2014 BT50, so I think that's equivalent to a PX1. Made no difference blocking it off fuel wise or noise wise. I blocked mine off because my EGR cooler had cracked and if I didn't block it at the exhaust manifold side then exhaust gasses would have flowed through the crack and out the water pipes which were bypassed which means an exhaust leak in the engine bay. Your tuner is correct, but if your EGR cooler fails then you run the risk of an exhaust leak in the engine bay. Since you're removing the water lines from the EGR cooler then technically it shouldn't rust out and crack.

  • @pepperdog7556

    @@turbostyler yes i have the cracked cooler as well and Ford quoted me 5k to change it and the glow plugs. WOW. Het the PX2 cooler is different than the PX1 you cant put a plate in the exhaust side which is a bit of a bummer so I will have to try to join the hoses on the cooler and hope they don't catch fire. I am think the exhaust wont be that hot with no flow through of gases. If you see one on the news on fire in Brisbane you have an idea why. Thanks mate
