Part #1 Dave Graffam Ruined Church foam core conversion for Bolt Action

Ойындар

This video provides some tips for taking Dave Graffam card stock buildings and glueing them to foam core to provide more structure. I was unable to upload this video in one piece as it was longer than 15 min. I need to be more techie... There are only 4 minutes in part II. Sorry for the inconvenience!!

    Love your Graffam Builds. It's funny, one thing that attracts people to papercraft is how fast and easy it is to build, but your work shows how a little extra time and love can make them so much more dynamic, durable and playable. Keep at it! Love the channel.

    Thanks Rob! It truly is amazing what can be done with these paper kits. The beautiful thing is that you can do as much or as little as you want and still have a good looking piece of affordable terrain for your games!

    Nice one Dan, I've recently started having a go with some Graffam Models but the ruined church looked a little imposing, you really have done a great job on this and have inspired me to give this one a go when I get the files... Keep the vids coming I love your Graffam tutorials :D

    Thanks! I think this model was the third one I built. It is a bit more challenging than some, but I couldn't resist giving it a go. The ruined models are a little easier in a sense because most of the kits are not designed to have removable roofs and finished interiors. You need to get a bit more creative to make those work. The ruined structures are actually the easiest to mount to foam core. In addition, any mistakes are easy to cover with rubble or damage ;)

    @@danbuman8422 lol, totally understand what you mean. Tbh I really wanna give some custom builds a go as livng in the UK I'm surrounded by historical buildings (im more a fantasy RPGer than war gamer) but as I only have about 5 or 6 models I do t have many textures to hack :S. Would be nice if you could do a slightly more in-depth vid on how you did your custome builds from your first vid on Graffam Models :)

    Great work Dan!! May I ask how you make your Rubble piles do you just use basing rocks?

  • @danbuman8422

    @danbuman8422

    Thanks John! I use some foam core stacked on top of each other to form a small "mound" to give the rubble pile some structure. I then glue Woodland Scenics coarse, medium and fine ballast onto the foam mounds using white glue. The ballast works very well as it is light weight and absorbs glue very well. I also add some small pieces of coffee stirrers to add some interest to the piles. When that is dry, I might add a little more of the fine ballast to tie everything together and then soak the piles in watered down white glue to seal them up and make them rock hard. Finally, cheap craft paints are used to match the rubble to the colors of the damaged wall sections. Hope that helps! take care :)

    Do you print onto cardstock first before gluing it to the foam core or do you glue the regular paper print directly to the foam core? Lovely buildings by the way.

    Thanks! I print directly onto the 110 lb card stock. That card stock works with ordinary home printers.

    do you seal it with any sprays? 1 drop of water can ruin the papercraft. acryllic sprays keep it from bleeding and also bring out the colors a little.
