One thing I've done with model building like these to hide the corners where the foamcore shows, is too have extra texture of the buildings exterior printed on normal paper, then cut stips to wrap around the edge, it's way more easier than beveling the corners ! Also too help the gluing process use typical sewing pins to help keep the foam core together while the glue dries...

This is a really good series, Joel, thanks for making them. It makes a nice change from the game reviews (which I also enjoy)

really like the use of the extra bits to create rubble. They look great and really creative.

I made my own templates in that style, using videogame textures I extracted. Mostly used them to do terrain for the Terminator Genisys Miniatures Game. Could also double as Zombie apocalypse terrain if I ever do a miniature game of that...

Fun stuff. I was straight away thinking how great Zombiecide Black Plague would look with that kind of terrain on it. Probably hugely impractical but if I ever finish the minis then maybe just maybe :-)

had my eye on this terrain for a while didn't think to strengthen it with foam core, a bit more work but they came out great!

Hello Joel, many thanks for the work you do! What is the thickness of the foamboard you are using?

Great video, thanks. For the chimneys it might be better to not put all the pieces on foamcore and leave two of the oppisite sides just on card so you can use them to cover the foamcore and make the bricks match all the way around.

Great video Joel! Could you just print on card stock to skip the extra step? And any time I cut foam core with an x-acto the foam core looks sloppy. Any tips?

What thickness is that foam core? The only thickness I can find is 3/16 or 5mm. Is your foam core thinner? And if so, where can I find some to order?

any reason why you wouldn't just glue it directly to the foamcore, skipping the cardstock backing?

way cool! it looks fantastic on black foam board too. storing all of it could get tough if you make a ton of terrain. thumbs up for the content... thumbs down for that fugly t-shirt though :P
