Parents - 11 HARSH TRUTHS. | Ankur Warikoo Hindi
A lot of what we become as human beings is about how we were parented.
If your parents are the ones who made these mistakes, I hope these perspectives help you look at those mistakes objectively, and then make your choices.
If you are a parent, I hope you do not make these mistakes, and make sure your kids do not have to deal with this. This is the best gift we could give to our children, as parents!

How could you forget these??? 1. Imposing their dreams upon their children or not letting their children follow their dreams. 2. Not letting their children choose their life partners. 3. Not accepting their children's decision to adopt a child, or have child through IVF/surrogacy. 4. Not allowing children to live as one from LGBTQIA+ community if they recognize themselves being from this community. 5. Not getting divorce despite being in abusive married life. 6. Patriarchy, double standards, discrimination between the female child and the male child. 7.Not discussing family problems with children or not involving children in family discussions. 8. Not letting their children make their own mistakes, experiment, explore and allowing them to learn. 9. Not unlearning with time. 10. Not discussing sex education, consent and sexual harassment, good/bad touch, male/female body, body positivity.

But these are the major problems : 1. Looking at the world through their own exp. 2. Focus on society 3. Comparison

Hello Ankur I would like to highlight rather add one more point which is *Financial Dependency*. Our parents are financially dependent on us (like we are their retirement pension plan). There is nothing wrong with this as they were raised with same mentality where children were considered as parents pension plan due to which they provided us with everything without saving anything for themselves. So this generation or new parents need to understand that we need to work on our future savings so that we are not burden on our children. Simultaneously we should provide for our parents because they have nothing to spend on themselves also please give them money upfront so that they don't shy away from asking for money for their personal expenses. I hope my point is clear and helpful in some or other way. Thanks. ❤️

I was sure enough to get this understanding on many subjects with my Kids. Teach my kids about. 1. Politics 2. Religion 3. Money 4. Charity 5. Education 5. Business 6. Food & Nutrition 7. Nature Living 8. Freedom to give Knowledge & Help other people 9. Do not Depend on the Fake Media & System 10. Importance of Environmental, Animal and Human rights. I can teach my Kids Courage & Bravery to teach the world what is right.
My tears are rolling down while watching this… This is what I am facing in my house. Now I am standing myself to select my choice whatever the situation may be I don’t want to leave my choice. And I am a mother to my 2 year old kid I want to be a toxic free parent to my kid. I have decided this when my child was 6months and Iam following it. Now i am facing this toxic with my parents.. Sir,thank you so much for this video. As a teenager I really needed this. I was always confused about whom to listen and what to do. I request you to even make videos for all the teenagers like me who follow you and look forward to u for guidance and a better clarity on such issues which our faced by us. 🙂

Excellent talk Another perspective is that many kids are constantly comparing their parents affordability and assets to their friends parents or neighbours or relatives
Perfect timing ankur..can relate to the emotional blackmail point.. seriously it kills.. specially when you are putting so much efforts..almost as if you made this video for me..really thanks..👍
Hi Ankur & team... Out of all the videos this one stands tall making much sense to change/ mitigate the prospective of generation gap. I am 34, not yet a parent standing in the middle where I can realise both sides of being a parent and a child. This content will run deep in the blood of both parents and children. I thank each of you along with Ankur for adding those eye opening examples. I hope this video will bridge the gap between a parent and a child. I will go and hug my parents after watching this video as now I feel that neither the parents nor the child is wrong, it's just that time flies and change is a constant thing. Kudos to Team Warikoo!

Rimmy this side And I really agree with the fact of comparing our kids with others and really appreciate the way you put all that facts together and create a very helpful video.
I am final year MBBS student, i felt in the emotional blackmailing/crying of my mother, that made me so shocked. (My mother cried alot when i got 60% marks in 9th class)i couldn't see that, so i forced myself to do hardwork, was ready to sacrifice all my goods and did only study. (As any child who care for there parents would do). Today you might say- what is the problem bro, you have cracked NEET and going to be a doctor. But, Today, i am diagnosed with paranoia, and i can't figure out what are my hobbies, what do i like and don't feel like living any more. This is sad😓 Today I even can't blame them and feeling very guilty.

Thanks for making this video.. As a parent this video is a blessing, as we also are doing many of these mistakes.
THE TRUTH!!! THANK YOU FOR SHEDDING LIGHT ON THIS TOPIC WHICH IS NOT DISCUSSED BY ANYONE!🙏🙏
You missed the biggest mistake - making us invested in FDs/PPF and crappy insurance ulips/endowment plans, without understanding the impact of inflation. Also, for many parents, raising a child is like 'bhudape ka Sahara banega', hence they try to control their children at every point of life, even when they r grown up. And, if they have more than 1 child, they will pick their fav.

@@ObserverGuy but the real problem is they become fully dependent on their children. I have seen our tenant family where Uncle has his own house, his own investment. His children has jobs and they lives together happily because Uncle never demands a single ruppee from his children, and they lives happily. Stop depending on your children and they will always be your "budhape ki sahara". When you forcefully make them to become this kind, they will never become your "budhape ki sahara".
The '11 harsh truths' are entirely correct, especially when it comes to the accountability part. But I think there are still many parents out there who beat their children, just because they did something which is not acceptable according to them. Maybe this can comprise the 12th harsh truth.
What a timing of this video, I am just blessed with a beautiful girl. This is really helpful to be a good parent 😊
Ankur, trust waali baat...very balanced view. Your advise to children is GOLD!

Amazing video Sir, Thank you so much..🙏🙏, please keep putting up with such wonderful, life challenging videos, especially for parents, truly very encouraging...Hats off to you Sir for your speech...🙏👏👏
It's a really really needed video of every parent and children.
Halfway through the video but already crying.. I have worked really hard in life , when I was falling down i kept on climbing. After 7 attempts i still fought to complete the toughest exam to make them proud... My mother still don't trust me..that I can earn my bread well. They are not happy with my chosen partner who earns better than me only because they think he is not educated enough to marry a CA but a just youtuber and comedian. I cannot share my mental health problems with them..my anxiety and depression and constantly going through emotional blackmail. This hits me toughest...

Mistakes we do: 1. Comparisons 2. Killing curiosity - stopping to ask question 3. Focusing on society 4. Looking at the world through their experiences 5. Emotional blackmail 6. Dismissing mental health 7. Lack of trust 8. Not discussing about money 9. Ordering 10. Imposing relations 11. Not making us accountable

idk why i cried while watching this being a teenager i know how traumatizing it is to be a victim of all these ... i also even dont know how to deal with all this if you have anything for me please go ahead i need a genuine therapy>>>>>>>>
A story I would like to share A couple days ago I got my result of class 8th I scored 85% in it when I told my mother about my marks she told me that these aren't enough and wouldn't even stand in competition to other students who are scoring 98% marks it was heartbreaking for me like I understand she want me to score more marks and I will I am sure but rather than saying my marks rn are pathetic she could maybe encourage me

Sir, great!!! Well presented. It's need of the hour . Once again thank you very much.
So apt and true. This was perhaps the best video yet.
(VERY IMPORTANT) To learn a new thing, first we need to accept that we don't know that thing or we lack that thing
Great video. You covered almost many things. Basically, give them Independence from very beginning of their life, start with letting them choose color of toys, clothes ( give them choices, if they are not able to decide). Start with small things then going to bigger things. Guide them but let them make mistakes don't scold them for every mistake but teach them to let go and forgive and tell them to learn from their mistakes.

I am happy that we did what Ankur is suggesting. We never forced our kids to do what we anted them to do. And whenever we differ, we used to tell them that yes, you can do /act what you like but then be ready for whatever the consequncies arise with your action. Of course this discussion was a nice discussion, not a threat! Many a times it happened that after thinking over the matter our sons would do what we had suggested, but it was with their understanding, not taking that as our command! :-D
Thank you... For making this video... Discussing such an important topic as it has huge personal impact... You are truly an amazing mentor.

Thank u sir, I needed this video very much. I cannot thank u enough for this help🙏🙂
This shows how good of a parent Warikoo is I promise if i ever be a parent i would be a good parent😊
You can also add this to list: Between children, there is always a procrastinator and an active doer. The parents keep their hopes on the doer but keep pampering the procrastinator whose used to impulsive self benefiting decisions. The doer feels left out, less loved and the procrastinator never grows up to know the realities and accountability. Ultimately, the procrastinator’s responsibility is on the doer which makes him resentful of the parents and the sibling
Sir, this is what looking for.....thank you so much for opening my eyes.
Another great video Ankur. Thanks for creating and sharing
I can relate every single bit of this video with my life. Sometime I wonder if parents really do things out of love. Because whenever I discuss something with my parents, they say it's their responsibility. Despite having a succesful career, I get to hear from them is that I m their responsibility.

How you speak to your children becomes their inner voice! A significant part of our personality and mental health issues have their roots in how we were treated as a child.

Ankur you have explained everything in a very nice, good and simple manner. Thanks🙏
Your points relate alot ,being a daughter the main thing I understood from your words is "Our parents might be our innocent well wishers sometimes so we need to forgive them and understand the reality".Your words show your positive mind set. THANK YOU I WOULD LIKE MEET YOU PERSONALLY IN THE FUTURE 🙂
It was really informative, Ankur. Thank you so much for the same. If it's not too much to ask, can you do another video meant for kids and the mistakes they make with their parents. Some points can be overambitious kids overlooking their parents altogether. Kids who are living away from parents don't (find it difficult) to communicate with parents, etc...
