With Cabanas Paraguay was really terrifying. They demolished Brazil at the qualifiers. I won't say they would have beaten Spain or even taken on Germany or Netherlands, but I will say it was very well possible. I'm brazilian and I with Paraguay team since their great WC 98 squad. We miss you Paraguay, please get back!

As a Paraguayan I feel more than proud of all the thingd that this humble group of players accomplished with guts and effort showed that anything is possible ROHAYHU PARAGUAY.

I'm Brazilian but Paraguay is one of my favorite national teams. Their players are so determined, focused, disciplined...and they defend so well. Such a small country but with a brave national team. They deserved to win this game, so sad.

Even though we can complain about VAR, look at what it was like before we had it. Paraguay were huge underdogs and had a chance to beat the favorites for the World Cup but lost because of a faulty refereeing decision.

I can tell that this was the hardest game in the entire tournament for us. Holland was easier, Germany was easier, Portugal was easier...but Paraguay was SO tough

Paraguayan football is fuck up because the president of the Paraguayan football association sold out our place to be become vice-president (at the same time) of the south american football confederation. Corrupcion inside the FIFA is real, its moves to much money. The hole country hates him. Martino knew this and dicided to leave. We really need to clean our association from this blood sucking peace of shit to start growing again.

The Paraguayan national team lost their coach after the 2011 Copa America. After that, he went to Argentinian team Newells Old Boys and THEN he went to Barcelona. Paraguay now has one of the best coaches of South America, River Plate legend Ramon Diaz. I truly believe we will be back at the 2018 WC.

Even though we were newcomers in Quarter-finals, before the WC we were an emerging team, having leaded the South American Qualifiers nearly two years, so isn't really a big surprise to saw Paraguay in Quarters, but no one expected that Costa Rica made a so impressive perfomance, they even surprised themselves...

Pepe Reina, from the bench, told Casillas where to go for the penalty. In the Euro league 09-10, Liverpool played Benfica in the quarter final and it ended 2-1, both Benfica goals were scored by Cardozo from the penalty spot, and both of them were directed to the left side of Pepe. Also, Casillas stated after the match that Pepe was the reason he saved the penalty. You can see him pointing to the bench right after he saved it.

I think this was the most toughest game for Spain in 2010 WC as Spain remained cautious till final

Why was Paraguay's number 18 offside in the first disallowed goal? He was behind more than 2 Spain's defenders at the moment the player near the outdoor conceded the cross to him.

this was one of the most tense moments I felt coz I was studying in a class full of Argentina/Brazil fans and me being on the only Spanish supporter I was heavily trolled and made fun of after first match but this match I really wanted Spain to win because Argentina and Brazil got knocked out and surely we did. hoh the faces of my friend after this stage

+Turab Hussain It was a team effort. He was at his peak, for sure. The penalty save and saving from Robben twice in the final. But David Villa, man, he scored goal after goal. Until the semifinal only Iniesta scored other than DV.

This is incorrect. Even if an offside player attempts to play the ball, it doesn’t matter, if the ball is actually played by a player that was onside at the time of a pass. Otherwise the linesman should’ve raised his flag immediately for Cardozo, not when Valdes got the ball. With VAR that goal would have been given.
