egioch Ha ha ha, I know what you mean mate. Although I do love the newer albums of PL, I much prefer the older material and this takes me back to them times. I doubt they will ever top the Gothic album though, but I do hope they prove me wrong.

FixxxerZ7 it's kind of pointless to discuss, tastes differ, I still bought an album after "One Second" (not really remember which) and I don't remember what it was like. I completely lost interest in PL music and enjoy only "Gothic", "Shades of God" and "Icon". It doesn't mean other records are bad, I just do not enjoy that kind of music. And I am glad that it looks like I can enjoy their music again.

It's just slighly over the population of Finland so it's not that much. Even if a more extreme band like Behemoth releases it's album it goes straight to #1. I turned into metal in the confirmation camp through Sepultura's Chaos A.D. album. Metal is mainstream here. And I'm sure there are many other videos here with this song, not just this one and also many more on other platforms so I would not be worried.

+aporia82 Definitely! Slower drumming is actually very tricky. Have you watched the "Symphony For The Lost" DVD? The drummer loses the beat at the beginning of "Victims Of The Past". I'm not criticizing him; in fact, the song's intro is so slow it's very easy to lose the pace.

Когда впервые услышал это творение - то просто не поверил своим ушам! Гениальнейшее произведение в своей минималистичности - нет ничего лишнего, и ничего не хотелось бы добавить!

Отвечаю мурашки по коже, на руках волосы дыбом. Песня просто шедевр, хотя я вообще никогда рок не слушал, особенно металл и не разбираюсь в нем вообще. Но то что я прослушал и в целом песни группы заслуживают особого почета и респекта в моей душе. Дай бог здоровья этим исполнителям!

These guys are amazing at playing in time in such slow tempo... It is not easy at all!

Imagine the world is crumbling, collapsing into the void of a black hole or a gigantic asteroid makes its approach on Earth. This would be the perfect soundtrack for it. Bleak thunderous riffs, hammering drums and a gargantuan voice chanting humanity's end. One of my favorite songs ever.

This is Paradise Lost coming back to who they truly are but I have surprisingly enjoyed everything they have done since 1993. Through all of their changes and experimentations, I discovered parts of myself that I would not have realized otherwise. Thanks, Paradise Lost!

+voice of amos I'll try to explain but it will only be head knowledge to you until you experience it for yourself on a personal level, only then, will it will sink into your soul and become heart knowledge and then you will truly know... Go out and eat some kind of food you've never had before or date a girl who is outside of the parameters of your personal preference or play a sport that you've never given any thought to, or... etc, etc. You will learn very little about those things/people you experience but you will learn a lot about yourself. This is what Paradise Lost has done in their journey as a band I have discovered parts of myself that I would never have know existed otherwise and I love them for it. Check out Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us (album, not song). That was the strongest PL since Gothic and Lost Paradise imo. Then Plague, Meduda and Obsidian came out and dropped Faith in my list to 6th.

I love Paradise Lost. Their whole discography is so fresh and they were/are always evolving

You need to read it with the rest of the paragraph, which says "Before us lays dreams". If you put a comma it makes more sense: "Before us, the King; Before us, (he) lays dreams"

Quite simply, the best Paradise Lost album in years. One that combines the intensity of Shades Of God with the untamed blare of Gothic and the suppleness of Draconian Times. These are high-grade compositions, well served by producer Gomez's heavy hand. The Plague Within serves as a reminder that not only did Pardise Lost create the blueprint for gothic metal, but they still do it brilliantly.

Totally agree with you. Generally I'm not so into the more death-influenced PL but this is a gloomy, doomy masterpiece, I definitely feel it, it's hard not to be moved by this, especially if you've been in those deep dark places as you say. Best regards.

By far the greatest band ever..and I will listen to all their albums in alphabetic order (not in the order of when they got released/I bought them) so I can travel from one era to another without an issue..the best is when I listen to best of like the anatomy of melancholy..I get all their styles in one (or 3 cds)

I was looking for this band at it took me two days of looking thru goth metal but alas i found you again Paradise Lost!

This is a genuine return to the roots and that is why they sound great! It was not written just because of nostalgia. Not sure how many bands of their generation can do the same! Αγαπάμε μπαντάρα!

I honestly didn't expect to hear Paradise Lost playing Doom ever agian... I'm so glad I was wrong, this is like going back to early nineties, I love it ,

Just watched them performing this song Live yesterday. This was a cathartic experience.

Damn I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when this was being produced, it just sounds so amazingly massive and clear. Love Paradise Lost.

Pure Paradise Lost. Back to the roots 🔥 I'm love it! I was i concert in Sopot and Wroclaw in 90' 🔥

I was actually looking for Milton's epic poem, but I was definitely not disappointed by what I found instead. Great band and great song too.

Always such a bliss listening to this masterpiece. Can't wait to hear the new album!

Emotionally always deep and professional music. Have been following PL's works since the beginning and have never been disappointed. True hard riffs for the real life-long hard rock/metal hearts. Amazing job guys!

I remember back in 1996 when I started jamming to this band. My friends had never heard of them. I'd play their music while they were over. I loved their Gothic sounds. I haven't listened to them in years

I love every single Paradise Lost album, and I love nearly all their B-sides and bonus tracks. Heck, a lot of their remixes are great! By far my all time favourite metal band. I even love Believe In Nothing! Unfairly maligned... Now for this song...goosebumps!

My sentiment exactly,I can listen to this song then Say just words, then The painless then year of summer without any problem.. Got all their albums, they made me love depeche mode (walk away) and funeral doom bands

Did they do a "bad" album once? Great band and they age very well...

When I was 16 - only icon, draconian times, one second. This is my youth and music fascination. Discovering another space. My bands are Sepultura, Slayer, Pantera, so it's not my way. Paradise Lost complement the melody and lyricism. Regards year 82.

This is simply the best PL song since 1995 - or even 1993 ❤‍🔥
