heres johnny I completely disagree. I still kinda like this, but I can think of MANY ways in which they would sound a lot better. I am very disappointed by their de-evolution in the last few albums, going back to the roots. Everyone goes back to the roots, it's so predictable and boring.
@ireallydontcareabouthandles
9 жыл бұрын
FixxxerZ7 I don't see it as a full-blown return to the roots. It's a return to Lost Paradise/Gothic form, sure, but there's certainly shades of Host in this song as well in the verses. I actually hear more Host in this than I do most of Tragic Idol. It's less a regression and more a collective exercise of everything the band has been up to this point, almost like the last 25 years have led up to this song. Their journey has been parabolic, going from metal to synthrock and then back again, but PL has never really stopped moving forward with their music; it's just that the last handful of albums have basically been a slow return to metal form while retaining some of what they learned from their late 90's/early 2000's material.
@FixxxerZ7
9 жыл бұрын
LC1991 While this new song definitely includes the experience of the last 25 years, it is pretty much at exactly the style of music they were playing back in 1990-1991. I am sorry, but I don't hear anything remotely close to Host. I can hear One Second and Host reminiscent melodies and formalisms in their previous 4-5 albums, but not here. Maybe the album will have some other songs closer to their late 90s stuff, who knows? It would be great if Paradise Lost always moved forward (like they were doing until 2005) but since 2007 every album is taking them a step back. Don't get me wrong, I still like ALL their albums, they're one of my favourite bands... just not all of them the same :)

Paradise lost does what no other band i have ever listened to does. This is the band that has released 3 albums in a year more than once. Theyve written more than most band 10+ years older than thim. And yet... They still havent lost their touch. I dont know all their stuff but im familiar w/ albums gothic, symbol of life and tragic idol. Basicaly beginning middle and present. And just.... Holy shit how do they do it?!? Most bands nowadays lose their touch by their 3rd album.

I love their albums "Paradise Lost", "Draconian Times", "The Plague Within" and "Obsidian". Right now I am most interested in re-visiting their album "Host", for the simple facts that a) its reception is quite polarising and b) for some reason or other it is quite often the very works that self-described "fans" of a band tend to dislike which I find most interesting. So, maybe it will grow on me once I give it another listen, even though it seemed average to me at first.

Amazing songwriting. Once again. How many bands can boast about producing such quality in their music after 27 years ? PARADISE LOST truly is one of the most valuable treasures in Metal Music.
Can't believe it has been 5 years already. It was amazing that they return to their death/doom style after those long years and still making awesome music untill now.

heres johnny I completely disagree. I still kinda like this, but I can think of MANY ways in which they would sound a lot better. I am very disappointed by their de-evolution in the last few albums, going back to the roots. Everyone goes back to the roots, it's so predictable and boring.
@ireallydontcareabouthandles
@FixxxerZ7

My first introduction to Paradise Lost was the Gothic album back when I was 17 years old. Now I did lose them for many years. But when KZread became out and I started watching their videos and all of their new stuff, I totally fell in love. I love everything by Paradise Lost. They are at the top of metal for more than two decades... Music and words are excellent, so loud and clever, with an impressive capacity to renew their music while staying at the top. I listened to them live one year ago when they came to Paris : they are really great and should be considered at the same level than Metallica, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, etc.

One of the very best fucking bands in the World, no argument. So consistently incredible, no shit albums, just spine tingling, majestic metal. The heaviness, the solos, Nick’s varied vocals, these guys are still streets ahead of most metal bands in 2020 and Obsidian will blow everyone away again. 🤘🏻
I saw them in Seattle this year in one of the worst attended concerts. Still, I was happy to see my childhood idols and enjoyed every minute.
Glad to say i saw them both on Draconian times and Icon tour. Still have a pic vinil of their first album. Truly unique combination of musicians here! Mind blowing riffs and heaviness throughout all of their work!

I love Paradise Lost from all my heart. They are amazing because trough the years they navigated between a lot of genres and phases, but always keeping their quality, their identity and their tone. Few bands manage to do that with excelence like PL.
Don't ever stop making music , the future needs you , the kids need you !
Now this is Paradise Lost. Awesome song. Would love to see these guys back in The States.
That's total Greatness!The rythm guitars are able to make the universe collapse!
One band that NEVER Disappointed me and inspired me to start my own band The Beautified Project... I've loved them since Icon, through electronic times and back to the heavier roots... Then came Tragic Idol... A master piece that just blew me away.... And now this beauty .... Awesome....
New to Paradise Lost. Love all their music!!
Those clean vocals give me goosebumps every time, and that riff at the 3 minute mark, Holy shit!
