Thank you , Uncle Martin of the Tube ! . 🐺
I think the reason why your method of completely repainting the groundwork black/dark brown and then highlighting later looks so good, is that it unifies the groundwork with the model. You paint the model the exact same way -- dark first, then building up lighter colours on top -- so everything looks like it belongs in the scene as the visual style is all the same :)

My favorite part about these videos are the painting and putting the tank together, not that anyone asked a year from now, but just saying😊
You're completely right about the Panzer of the Lake being in a river, another KZreadr named ConeofArc was able to confirm it had sunk during a failed river crossing in Belgium.
I've been following your channel for years now and I have to say, of all the approaches to groundworks priming, this one definitely looked the best in my opinion. As always, great videos, love your content!

Nice work! And I appreciate that you now post longer videos with some more time in between them - that`s far better than videos of ten to fifteen minutes every week, I think! * Thumbs up! *
Stunning work! I love what you did to create the exposed plant roots -very realistic
That groundwork is museum quality 👍🏻
Your self-deprecating sense of humour belies your talent. Beautifully done, Martin, and a pleasure to watch.
Wow, I didn't expect that "lubricated as a fox" joke out of the blue :D Great build as always, your work is a huge inspiration for me!
By far one of my favorite models now, absolutely amazing recreation
The shading and lighting techniques on the guy is phenomenal.
Although I am not an armour modeller (yet) I get bucketloads of material, technique and scenic inspiration from your videos, so thank you very much. I just felt the need to tell you that as mainly a figure painter in mostly 28mm scale I find your figures really great. They convey the story, fit the palette and your colour transitions are really excellent. When I will eventually start a 40k guard army, I am gonna binch watch your content again to end with the best possible tanks. Keep up your great work
When sanding a large surface on a sheet of sandpaper, move the component in a "Figure 8" pattern. This will removed the "High" points quicker and also help keep the component level on the paper and reduce any slope/angle that might occur when reciprocal sanding.
Beautiful result Martin! You say you initially put the wrong mantlet on the tank, but the first one was actually the correct one based on the photo… it’s a Pz IV Ausf D. 😀 Thanks for all of the inspirational videos. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
Ask someone who is a long time 40k/30k fan, it's very fun to watch a different type of models in action

I’m an archaeologist, and your earthwork on the embankment was spot on-I should know, I look at dirt all day long. It’s unfortunate that the resin water creeped up the side, but your colors and composition look fantastic!
@SteamCheese1
Жыл бұрын
I'm a Railroader, so I don't look at dirt all day long. So I'm asking you as a dirt connoisseur, sommelier and expert. Doesn't water creep up like that? Or does it look unnatural to you? Does it depends on where the lake is located geographically?
@outcastmodels4932
Жыл бұрын
@@SteamCheese1 really good question! I’ve only ever seen it when the water level dropped for whatever reason. I’m sure some riverbanks have water creeping up on them, but I can’t recall seeing that myself. But I’ve seen it at dammed lakes where the water level can be controlled. It only lasts for a few hours though-after that the soils appear to become dry. Like I said, I’m sure somewhere in the world there’s a riverbank that’s proving me wrong lol
@SteamCheese1
Жыл бұрын
@@outcastmodels4932 Thanks for your response man! Yeah I went to our local pond to look at it and you're right. On the surface it looks dry and doesn't really creep up. Only like 2 to 5 millimeters. But under the surface if you just dig a few centimeters, the dirt feels moist and is a bit darker. So my guess is that on the surface the rate of evaporation is too fast to stay moist. So it looks dry.
@ZiddersRooFurry
Жыл бұрын
@@SteamCheese1 It really depends on the weather. I used to live where it was really humid and sometimes the dirt and sand around the waters edge would remain moist after it rained or after the water was disturbed, etc. It never was for long. Maybe this tank was recently submerged.
Very good job recreating the meme, i love your work, you're very talented at painting models and making scenarios.
I'm really liking your high-risk low-reward cutting method at 3:34
Hello Martin. I’ve seen your videos over the past couple of years, as I research model painting, customizing, and diorama building. I’m a 1:18 scale customizer…and I’m studying techniques and tricks from youtubers like yourself. Thank you for putting out excellent videos and I love your narration…you instruct and keep us interested at the same time. Your resin work is outstanding and motivating. I’ve only used resin twice, and the second time I made the mistake of using NOT deep pour resin and the layers below were leaking out as the top layers were curing. I was so stressed out I just threw the whole project away. Watching your videos has taught me a lot…and I’m motivated to try resin again in my hobby work. Keep up the good work. Hello from Guam 🇬🇺
I think the bubbles and distorted area of the water added some more realism to the model. There's lots of gasses trapped under soil. When thet gets disturbed (By driving a tank into it as an example) you will get all these bubbles rising to the surface. But i understand that it wouldnt look as good as it should at these smaller scales. Love the model!
Looks awesome!! If you haven’t tried it yet, you can use woodland scenics flex paste, for sealing your foam base, where epoxy resin will be poured. Works great 👌
It looks like a cartoon or a piece of paper that’s been drawn really well
Oh panzer of the lake what is your wisdom?… “This meme will never die.”
That’s a great diorama, I love it. If I can give you some feedback from working with the real thing, it’s that wire recovery ropes don’t bend easily. Heck they often won’t bend at all, unless it’s awkward, in which case they’ll bend in an awkward but graceful arc to wherever you don’t want them. They’re very springy, and the bend radius would be around the same as the curve on panther, tiger or cromwell/comet wheel for a sense of scale, unless you’re really applying a lot of pressure. keep up the good work!
Can’t wait for your winter scenery 🙌 I’m currently working on a diorama for my Dragon Panzer III Winterketten ( #6606 ) I’m going for a post snow melt scene, so I can still incorporate some snow, but the entire diorama won’t be dominated by white lol
Therapeutic builds. Amazing patience. Thx
Everything in one video! WOW
I’d love to see you make a diorama of something from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, I feel like you’d be absolutely AMAZING working with apocalyptic-looking buildings and terrain. And I just wanna watch you paint a rusty truck for like 20 minutes lol Love your videos man!

Loving these quick small projects from you. It's fun to get the whole project in one video. I wonder if there is any way to get the resin water to have less surface tension; at this scale it tends to creep up the sides of objects such as the turret and river bank. Thin resin would be difficult to contain without spilling, but maybe finishing the surface with an extremely thin layer of a very runny form of resin would help hide this phenomenon without requiring the whole base to be complexly watertight.
@Faraway994
Жыл бұрын
what I see most people do is shave off the creeping edges with hobby knife and putting a gloss varnish to get the waters shininess back
The moisture creeping up the bank makes it more realistic plus leaving some bubbles in the water also more realistic.
"Oh Panzer of the lake, what is thy wisdom?" - "Honing a craft takes dedication and determination more then raw talent, though having some helps"
This is wonderful work, Martin! How are able to paint watch hands in 1/35th scale? Such steady hands. Speaking of color, I would like to see you replicate the spectral effects of petrol floating on the surface of still water. This could be either lying on top of water puddles on a street or road, or petrol that rises up from a submerged vehicle in deep water. This is not easy I think because several factors affect the color on real life. I hope you consider this a challenge and show us your interpretation someday.
