Rust Bucket - Tank Restoration Diorama
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
My friends, this is the most unexpected, least planned, and almost the biggest diorama I've ever done so far. Considering how it was made in very limited conditions and under a tight time schedule, I'm quite surprised it didn't turn into a total disaster!

What I like about your modeling is that you constantly modify and improve your techniques. I think you should dabble with aviation modeling and see what techniques you can learn from it that would apply to your armour models. I recommend starting with Mig-15 kit.

An abandoned one in a hanger or on an overgrown runway XD
Welder here! If you want to do industrial technology such as breaks, metal shapers, etc, make sure to keep some black (very think and light) on it, because when in shops and outside, the metal shavings/rust/grime stays on there, and clumps up. In our shop, the welders have so much clumped up metal, it stays on there. keep up the good work!!
You single-handedly kicked the price of cork up just now. Admirable!
My uncle Night Shift never fails to deliver
Thank you , Uncle Martin . 🐺
Those concrete textures… so juicy and such beautiful eye candy. I absolutely love the rusty abandoned tank in an old gritty environment. Can’t wait to see what’s new for the next diorama muh friend.

You know this is true Uncle Nightwish, when he is chipping concrete plates :D
I would love to see uncle nightshift do a warhammer 40k tank
The short work you displayed , just on the paint on that model, should rank you up in the top teirs of model building. Hope you have serious prospects in front of you.
Great stuff as usual! IKEA... Swedish for straight jacket and a padded room!😉
2:50 woah, who would have thought cracks would make so realistic cracks?
Longest two weeks I’ve ever had Well worth the wait
"MA FRENS!!!" The return of Uncle Night Shift! My week just ended on an upbeat!!!
I can't hide my astonishment at all the wonderful content and the skills of the tanks and the delicate work. I respect all
That concrete! Outstanding.
BLOODY MASTERPIECE MR. KOVAČ!!!
"Huuuh Fiends!!" every time I hear that... I say.. this is gonna be a good day. TY sir!
If started selling dioramas he would be rich because they’re works of art
I think I'd call this diorama "...there is no way this piston and conrod came out of THAT!" Great work as ever!
I mean, how can you be THIS GOOD. And I'm sitting here struggling to spray monotone camo to not look like a piece of cardboard, smh. Thank you for another mesmerising video.

Been looking forward to this video all week and then some!
You know your a nerd when you prime grass 😂😂😂 looks great
The details on the concrete and the accessories all over the diorama, these small things make this diorama a work of art in my opinion, but of course the tank, the building and the figures are amazing as well :)
Sir Night Shift is back with another video and I enjoy it. (To the viewers, I recommend at least liking or subscribing to this lad.)
holy smokes those concrete slabs look cool.
Hey Uncle! You should build Tamiyas new P-38J, just as a little experiment with applying armor weathering techniques to an aircraff

Very very well done. Great subject matter. Remodeling a house is a total pain in the butt
Bloody Awesome Night Dude..... TFS, GB :)
Here's some advice for weld beads: I've noticed that a lot of the time with your models, the weld beads are perfectly continuous even around corners. Yes I know you want weld around corners, in fact I am a welder myself. But depending on the type of welding they used, which was most likely stick, they wouldn't have rounded a corner like that. So, maybe try separating the bead at the corner?
I live 10 minutes from Michigan Toy Soldier. I tell people if you need a paint or model tool/material and they don’t have it, it’s not worth having! Great store!
Looks great, Uncle Night Shift 😃
Restoration garage, great idea if you have more than one tank of different types and from different eras in the same diorama
LOVE IT... One thing... In the real world, oxygen and acetylene tanks are ALWAYS stored and chained in an upright position for safety reasons. The one laying on it's side is driving me crazy! [No worries] The Cork Concrete is ideal and I will use this technique. Now am thinking about additional ways to use cork including the thicker chunkier stuff. Thank You my Friend.
Still waiting for Michigan Toys to start carrying "real earth from my garden TM"
The very definition of miniature art
thanks Nightshift, you solved a problem for me, concrete slabs with cracks 👍👍👍
Welcome back, Martin and thanks for sharing
Uncle you’ve out down yourself with this one. Absolutely stunning. Those concrete slabs are so well done, it’s unbelievable to me how accurate you managed to make it look. Still my favorite part is the warehouse. I’m still blown away by that. Especially the roofing sheets. We use the same galvanized steel sheets for roofing and fencing here in Barbados and the weathering you have done is spot on. Well worth the wait on this diorama
I'd love to see some kind of metro-2033 styled diorama set in heavy winter made by you.
One of your best videos… ever!
4:00 I live within a relatively short drive's distance from Michigan Toy Soldier. I've been there many times. It's a great hobby shop and I've always liked dealing with the people working there.
Going back to older videos it's amazing to see how your skills with figures evolved
More this type of dioramas. Unreal good looking. Maybe someday ant ukraine diorama? Or more urban style? You are the MAN!!
Very realistic concrete. I like that you used household paint. I usually use craft store paints when it is not going directly on a model. There are some surprisingly durable paints that are available. Cheap, too.
Eyyyy! You're repping my local hobby shop, awesome! :D
If you ever come to the UK I highly recommend visiting Bovington Tank Museum. There's a lot of tanks in good condition and also a few in bad condition. I think you'd like it.
This is just fucking brilliant. Good luck on the remodel Martin.
Great job as always
Outstanding as always, muh friend!
Never thought of using cork! You are AMAZING DUDE!!!!
Chefs kiss
This inspired me to put a concrete slab or brick walkway in the diorama I'm doing as a commission. The client bought some HO/ 1:87 scale nudists from a NOHC and Preiser and wants a nude beach scene. I have some warlord 13mm/1:144 scale epic Chateaus that translate pretty nicely into HO scale beach houses and a 1:72 scale WW2 Russian NCO that could make a fitting generic European/Mediterranean police officer of some sort. The Beach houses are the backdrop on the 1'x1' slab of 2" foam, covering the entire backdrop. around 1/3 of the foreground will be water emanating from the front left corner. The middle 1/3-1/4 will be sand including a volleyball net [will use tight nit fishnet stockings for the net I think] and possibly a brick retaining/privacy wall with a walkway of this style concrete.
This is most beautiful.
That cork concrete effect is AMAZING.
Joined at 1:20, had to rewind just to get my fix of “muh friends”!
100% professional!
Imagine my surprise when one of my favorite model makers calls out my favorite local hobby store Michigan toy soldier company here in Michigan.
Well, you managed to recreate my patio perfectly, atleast i now know who's been creeping about my garden recently 😉
another wow diorama. Great stuff.
Pure awesomeness! Maybe a we led light in the tall lamp would have been cool?
Just wait till you discover you can add LED lights to the two light fittings. Awesome work as usual.
Najlepszy modelarz na YT
Sehr sehr sehr schön . Mach doch noch zwei LEDs in die Lampen dann wir es Hammer
Thank god you've gotten a bigger brush for the sides of the dioramas !
Wow, this is just incredible
10/10 that was awesome
That's the thing I figured to display mixed type of tanks in one diorama. Like old and new tanks parked next to each other. A tank museum or a restoration garage. Great content as always!
Thanks Uncle Night Shift. Many of your techniques have brought up my miniature skills way more than I thought I would ever be able to do.
That’s awesome man, but I figured I’d let you know that welder is actually a seteline torch. But again, very nice job!
perfect timing now while having my beer!!
You should make a panther or a stuG next! As always good job!!
I’d really enjoy seeing you take on a tank from Warhammer 40K or the Horus Heresy. You could really give your style some room to get creative.
I thinking adding some subterranean details would make it extra cool. Some like sewage pipe works or rock layers.
Amazing craftsmanship
Beautiful work credit due to you 👍👍🇬🇧
Amazing work mate! The concrete is spot on and the whole diorama is incredible. I really enjoy the small detail of the track being lifted up by the wood beam that it ended up resting on.
An american tank next? Maybe an open top, Wolverine or Hellcat perhaps?
Very enjoyable video. You are a master. Thanks Uncle Night Shift.
Reporting in.
Beautiful. truly.
Fantastic as Always !!
Nice job. Just one small thing, we don't use concrete pole's like the lamp post you have used in the UK

GO BIGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Awesome - as usual……. 👌
It’s great! If you want to add to it - add a couple of big blocks of wood between the wheels, nobody wants 60 tons running away when you’re working in it. Also tanks attract a lot of dust underneath and on the lower tracks when they sit for a while outside, and it tends to fall down when you’re working on them and get blown under the wheels, and into the crevices on the lower tracks. Spanners, hammers, oil cans, tools etc. tend to get put on every surface that will take them, particularly the mudguards and in gaps/valleys where they won’t get knocked as easily, as climbing up and down from the tank is a pain in the bum, but if you drop something into the depths you may not see it again for months/years. You’ll have boxes to hold any nuts and bolts you take off and try to organise / not lose the small things. We’d add steps or tie on a couple of ladders with rope to get up and down (metal on metal isn’t a good friction surface, so ladders slip). The one thing that you got wrong is the towing eyes, which are bloomin heavy and hang down, not up. That’s not a biggie though. I really like it.

You could do a lot by doing the same dirt in the cracks job over the tank as you did on the concrete.
This is incredible
The skin color in my opinion was a bit too yellow/grey desaturated looking, but honestly it fits the diorama and almost looks like a stylized approach. Almost like they have an old photo filter over them.
Nice and crispy.
Best promo code ever 😂
I really wish I could come down from Sweden to Slovakia to build IKEA furniture with uncle Night Shift lol! It would be an experience worth remembering! Love your work and models, and often wish I could be you :)
I was totally sleeping on the value of the cork plates, really a great source of cheap cork.
Speaking of concrete slabs: Soviet PAG-14 airfield plates! I've been thinking of a 3D printed mold for air drying clay, and a jig that lets me cut the diamond pattern easily. If you want to play with heavy damage, the rods inside the concrete are woven, which would be a pretty awesome detail. All the necessary drawings are easily available online, since the slabs are still sold today. Such a 'background' could contrast extremely well with a more colorful aircraft. One of my favorites has always been the Ukrainian Su-27 "splinter" camo. Such a beautiful pattern, and blue is just an awesome color. Alternatively, some abandoned Mil helicopter, similar to the VW Beetle. Sticking to the Stalker vibe, maybe an Mi-24RKhR. I've found the Zvezda kit to be a good basis, but I'm still working on that. Just some more food for thought ;)
I would like to see you do a Sherman and crew but as in Oddball and his crew from Kelly’s heroes
Great job 🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
In a word, wow! If I ever meet up with a genie, one of my wishes would be to have your modelling skills. Your worst probably demolishes my very best.
love to see what you could do on a 40k warhammer tank. Orks would suit your style :P
Another banger episode!
