Three little Orphans, 1, 2, 3, without a home OR a family tree. In 1987 situational comedy Horsin’ Around premiered on ABC. But Horsin’ Around ran for NINE seasons, and overall, we see VERY little of it. But there are SO many little scenes, offhanded lines, jokes and sequences that give us a ton of insight into some of the things the series did. So today, I want to look at the entire history of the program, try my best to piece together every known episode, storyline, moment, behind the scenes information and place it all in a timeline. In other words, we were lost, but now we’re found, and we’re Horsin' Around.

    Seeing Sarah Lynn grow up on Horsin' Around in chronological order(from the age of THREE!) really does make Bojack sleeping with her later in life a lot more disgusting. You'd think spending nine years watching a child grow up while playing a paternal role to her would naturally deter that kind of behavior

    @@beckymay1732 There probably already was a Bradley Smith and he had to stand out. That's my headcanon anyway. It's kinda weird how many sitcoms there are about single dads.

  • @khaordium

    @khaordium

    Ай бұрын

    probably because most people they expect to be watching those shows are women in their 20s and 30s! so they market single dads as the central point so women can insert themselves into a situation where they are present and daydream about this life, which would be much harder to do morally if a character is shown to have a loving, caring, and devoted wife, because it mentally feels like this desired man is a "cheater." on the flip side, dads are able to see these characters and imagine situations involving their own life (like a self insert) and have a rotating cast of beautiful women chasing after this average man! both of these situations are fairly common fantasies, so sitcoms market themselves to allow people to fantasize and keep watching the show, boosting ratings and viewership

    I really like the idea the show was in Colorado as it shows Diane moved to Colorado and got the life she wanted but no longer relying on Horsin Around to give that to her. Idk just her moving there to be with Guy while also being where they lived in the show she watched to feel like she had a home is a really sweet ending for her. She doesn’t stay in Colorado and moves on to Texas eventually with Guy even if she had to linger behind for a bit due to BoJack’s failed attempt

    Especially throughout the 80s and 90s, this wasn't really ever addressed or thought about, I think; and it definitely continued in Hollywood throughout all the way until the 2010s; but working with kids, especially ones as young as the kids in these shows - real or fake - requires a lot of special skills. I work with kids at the moment and it requires a lot of care and tact, especially when you normally don't have practice interacting with kids. As you grow up, you keep feeling the same, you sometimes feel like you never changed and still are a kid yourself, but that's not true. To them you're the old man, the adult and there's a lot of responsibility in how you act and interact with them, that comes with that. And to you, they can't be equals. Sure, you need to respect them as you would a fellow adult, but you can't treat them like an adult, you can't say the same things, you can't be the same person around kids that you are among peers and that's something you need to learn. And not everyone is capable of understanding that. I'm positive that a lot of childhoods were destroyed in Hollywood because adults didn't treat kids appropriately, i.e. as kids. And from the perspective of nowadays, I wouldn't have let Bojack anywhere near kids that age. I myself would be apprehensive about working with the kids in Horsin Around like that, because the studio seemed to foster a kind of pseudo-familiar relationship between the cast and that's simply not appropriate. Especially with Bojack, who as we now know has a history of being unable to seperate on-screen from reality

The pilot and other episodes state that the kids are twin girls Zoe and Zelda, but in one of the season 3 episodes (possibly The Shot when PB goes to the oval office set with Bojack) Mr Peanutbutter mentions a boy named Zachary??? Either they added another kid or my personal theory: either Zoe or Zelda is trans and Mr Peanutbutter's House was ahead of it's time.
