I don't think I've ever seen a horse with such a large and well-formed frog.

You can tell you love your work, but more importantly you have love for the horses. I am.glad you are in your trade to give health and happiness to creatures who deserve so much respect and care. I hope you also receive the respect and care you deserve.

I dont know a damn thing about horses but that, Sir, was a work of art. Cannot imagine how many shoes youve made to make it look so effortless. Tip o' the hat.

Farrier and Blacksmith are noble professions and it is so good to see them being carried on and respected.

That is a SPECTACULAR, TEXTBOOK FROG. Unusual to see such a robust, intact frog in a foot so overdue for the farrier; it’s health reflects on the horse’s general health. There’s an old saying: ‘No foot, no horse.’ The frog provides traction AND because it is made of spongier, compressible tissue, helps pumping deoxygenated blood back up the leg. Amazing!

I don't know anything about horses other than what I've seen on KZread videos but what I like best about your trims is that you don't overdo it on the frog. Not trimming this one at all because of the shape and health was very interesting to see.

And the horses obviously loves you because they're corporating with you with the help of the assistance of others of course. So great job sir.

Sometimes I think after getting all 4 shoes done I bet the horse is like: Ah, man, what a nice feeling.

If the frog is at the same level of the horseshoe, and don't touch the ground is ok,otherwise it risk to be hardly in contact with it and could be dammaged by time causing a sort of lame.

I believe that the frog is the horse's natural shock absorber as he walks/trots along. It's the first part of his foot to touch the ground. Looked really healthy and will keep replenishing itself as it wares.

I appreciate & respect your great work with so much precision and art work required.

Go back and watch the video. He measured and did layout on the steel bar before he put heat to it

My grandpa would have taken issue with that shoe going on before it cooled to a black heat, and for leaving it on as long as he did. Never seen a horse react that way, but I've also never seen a ferrier apply a red/orange hot shoe to a hoof until now.

Holy cow! What a process! But so beautiful at the end. Even though the horses leg gets tired with that long process, id bet it feels better afterward

GREAT !! MAN !.. You have CARE-ing Hands .. and have SELF-developed Tremendous Skill. Even the GREAT animal seemed to know that you could only be a GREAT Blessing.. The horse seemed very pleased..! At age 15, I could do some foundry.. But seeing you burn that shoe into the hoof at the Correct plane, was SATISFYING .. That is a Feat of a Master-Craftsman !! I'm not a horse person. I know hardly anything about them, but I love watching farriers ply their trade. Watching them work bent over like that makes my back hurt. I hope their backs are OK.

Smells a bit like burning hair. The “hard” part of the hoof is mostly keratin, like hair or fingernails (kind of.)

You have to ask only to the horse, wheather you are feeling comfortable

They only hold it on for a few seconds to get the impression onto the hoof for where the shoe will go. Think of it like a big, thick toenail. If they were to hold it on too long, the heat would transfer up the horses hoof and into the part with blood vessels and nerves that can feel pain. That's why they are careful to only do it for a couple seconds. If you burn the horses foot, I promise they will let you know.
