Thanks for watching everyone. We charge very little to trim these neglected cases. Many of you want us to report the owners. While this seems like a good idea, it sure would keep these horses from coming to our school for help. Many owners would fear the consequences of getting help. We keep it anonymous and recommend more frequent farrier care. This helps us leave the door open for horses that need help. Please subscribe and share these videos your friends so we can keep doing this work we love! It is free for you to subscribe and it helps us and these horses so much!

As an owner of a hobby farm with only 3 horses, most people don’t realize the expense of horse ownership. Fortunately my wife and I had incomes to support and maintain our small herd. Square bale hay here in Connecticut is $8-10 a bale. We need 400 bales every season. Every 6-8 weeks the farrier comes to trim, reuse the shoes or replace $250.00. The grain, fresh water and treats add up every month. We just put up a new barn 10 years ago. So you see it’s a costly hobby to get into and maintain. Not to mention vet bills twice a year. ($75.00) just to visit your barn before any treatment. You can’t cheap out on your horses. They deserve all the care you can give. I just subscribed. Thanks for the quality and informative videos. Whimsical Wind Farm.

I choose to tell myself that these are the stories of horses owned by someone who died. In the months of hospital stays and funeral arrangements and divvying up property and possessions, the family remembers to feed the horse... but it takes all that time for the non-horse people to look at the poor boy's feet and ask, "are hooves supposed to look like that?" And then it takes them a while to find someone that can help.

Do you have the ability to keep horses to ensure monitoring and close follow up? I don't own a horse, never have, but watching you repair these hoofs and give these horses a better way of life is heart warming. Thank you.

Thank you for helping this horse. There are possibly numerous reasons why his owner neglected this animal, but hopefully that will change or he will sell the horse.

Did someone else take ownership of this horse besides the people who let this happen? I hope this horse has a soft landing at a sanctuary. You did a great job for the first trim. Will you be trimming him again? Or will the new owners continue with better care? ❤🐎😎
