    I always love seeing this type of Work on horses 👍 very important work and requires certain skills and care for the well-being of horses! When they don’t get the care they need it must be very painful for them.

    For all this horse talking, looking for its mates, the horse did very well in standing for the Farrier. Whoever trained this horse, trained it well. Kudos to the owner for a very well behaved horse for the Farrier, when you can hear, it clearly wants to be outside with its stable mates. And this farrier is worth his weight in gold and then some!! He never got angry at the horse for calling out at all. Love farriers like this, and owners who take the time to TEACH their horses who the Farrier is, and allows the Farrier to first approach the horse. If that's the first time with a new horse added to his shoeing and trimming roster of horses, mules and donkeys to do. It shows the owner he cares about your horse, and his safety as well. Approach, retreat, approach, rub on them, retreat, go to the head wearing the chaps, approach again and ask for the foot. At least that's what my CJF does with every horse that he does for me while they are in my care for 5 months. Even does the babies first rasp, and they stand nice and quiet with his technique. Best Regards and Stay Safe Everyone!! From a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

    What purpose does burning the shoe impression onto the horse? Is it to expose high and low points?

    There's not really another way because you can't stand up straighter because then you lift a horses foot way too high and sitting doesn't allow for anything to get done

    Try a paste wax like S.C. Johnson instead of typical hoof dressing. Nice matte finish instead of the dripping gooey look. It's super cheap too.

    Not all farriers burn the shoe onto the hooves, is that just up to preference on the farrier? My family has horses and our farrier never did that and then I found your videos. I had no idea this was a method. It kind of shocked me at first.

  • @feathersong5838

    @feathersong5838

    It's farrier preference but also just depends on the horse. Some horse's won't tolerate a hot shoe if they're not trained properly or they may have really sensitive feet or an injury that just doesn't allow it. The reason for burning is because it creates a perfect indentation for the shoe to sit flush and snug with the hoof so it fits and stays on better.

    is the horse crying of pain?

  • @kennyferrick1240

    @kennyferrick1240

    Жыл бұрын

    No, the horse is not in any sort of pain. It's very much like clipping our nails. Which, hooves are made of keratin like our hair and nails and have no nerves or blood supply as it is dead material. This horse just happens to be vocal and if the horse was in any sort of pain it would have kicked the farrier and refuse to be handled. Nothing to really worry about here! I've dealt with horses myself and I know a few things myself for sure.
