When a dish is only consumed locally the locals have got to question why that dish isn't travelling. Truer words have never been spoken.

That's why british cuisine is worldwide popular obviously... That being said, brains, tripes and such are consumed all around the world, even in GB... so they look more like uneducated childs nourished with fish and chips and burgers...

@@ForgiveAllOfUs Even when it's consumer locally it is not consumed by everyone, that's the thing I'm sure all people everywhere eat weird shit and btw British Cuisine is not popular worldwide, most of it tasteless garbage that even British people don't like.

@@harshmanohar6163 I was sarcastic on british cuisine obviously... But you're right, local specialities are sometimes marginaly appreciated even by locals. My point was more that taste has to be educated too, and while Ayoade seems sometimes genuinely curious (wish is good), the overall impression it left on me was one of two english people mocking everything they don't know because fed on fastfood since birth. But I'm probably a bit hard on them...
@harshmanohar6163

@@ForgiveAllOfUs I didn't catch your sarcasm, guess that's my fault. The British have a very limited palate anyway and in this show they go and try the most acquired taste shit anyway, like one time the waitress serving them said I don't eat this shit. While what you're saying maybe true they are only eating the most disgusting shit that most locals don't even consider eating, that's what makes the show funny, if they did the same to traditional food enjoyed by everyone then your point may be valid but in this case I assure you even the locals hate this stuff.

"Both those things are awful. Those are two awful things here." I've watched enough Richard Ayoade clips now to know this is him being very emotional about the subject.
"Lights on. It's too Turkish." Alright, wrap it up, T.V. has peaked.

"I'm not subject to some sort of television law of bullying..." My favorite aspect of Richard is his gentle but firm self advocation. He is sweet, charming and kind, but he's not a f-ing doormat.

He carries the essence of a man who deserves respect, doesn't expect it, and stays neutral and youthful either way

18:30 that barman played along perfectly, it's like he was a veteran of british comedy, whileas most episodes of Travel Man have featured locals, cashiers and other workers, who were definitely told beforehand that a british tv show is being filmed, seem confused and even irritated at their jokes.

ok so this may seem odd but: i think she's making this joke bc she thinks she isn't high-class? but... well, she IS, she HAS class to a really high degree. there's something unassailable about her character & that's as classy as you can be, imo. sure, people can be born rich, but you have to learn class & she has it.

iv'e got some kind of weird man crush on Richard Ayoade. He is who i want to be
I wanna imagine the pitch for this show was, it's a food and travel show with Richard Ayoade where he and a guest go end experience various cultures....but the twist is, if it's even mildly uncomfortable for Richard, he'll just stand there as the guest tries things. It's strange but it works.
