the Richard and Chris moment in Cafe Central makes me feel like the universe conspired to bring these two together.
I've seen the snow-globe accident so many times, and still it's uncomfortable to watch.

I still have a hard time believing that it actually happened. His over-the-top reaction coupled with the store owners complete lack of reaction, plus the fact that he was even being that reckless with something he was just told was valuable...it just doesn't feel genuine to me.

Richard Ayoade "air drumming" just made my day, that image wills stay with me forever.
Idk why, but I am continually entertained at how much of a lightweight Richard is. One shot and a sip in, "Yup, okay, I can't smell the bread. I've completely lost the bread." Reminds me of when he took 2 sips of mulled wine in Gadget Man and had a buzz. 😅
I think Ayoade will eventually be as big a national treasure as Stephen Fry.
The barter interaction at the tea shop made me sooooo uncomfortable I'm so glad Richard took a second to stop the bit and pay the man

Haven't seen all the full episodes - Richard and Rob in the Fiat: absolute gold; Richard plays guitar? Wow. Then there are the unintentional IT Crowd tie-ins, from Absinthe to Carlsberg. The snowglobe incident will get us every time, but at least we'll always have Galoppen. That was awesome, thank you Travel Man!

Imagine how it feels for them? Misunderstanding is bound to happen with language and cultural differences, but I can see how it might be interpreted badly. You put the sole responsibility on one side of the equation. When traveling to a place and being received by hosts you have some responsibility to know the customs of the region. (blunt translation : some Brits come off like dicks without realizing it. Cough it up to cultural differences in humor.)
@kerryh3833

@@Ohm521 I was talking about the video in particular. I was talking about how I felt watching it. I wasn't saying every service person should take a joke. I was saying that it was better in the video for me as a watcher when the service people understood him. Richard is a very difficult person to understand, comedically. If you don't know of him and his form of comedy, you're just left lost and confused. THAT situation is a hard watch.

@@Ohm521 @kerryh3833 sorry to resurrect this thread, but i'm curious about what y'all think of this idea: my gut says it was a stumbled-upon bit. not something planned ahead of time, but birthed when the instructor started making that anthem beat. richard often seems to take a non-confrontational approach with strangers, so the remark in the middle feels a bit more intentional than casual + rob, towards the end, gets real fancy in that american "i see we're past the line" kinda way. maybe it's just because i'm from the states, but the tonal shift really felt like a bit of editing jiggery-pokery instead of actual tension
"I have no empathy, im here to close deals." Lmao

How did Richard not say “A lightsaber is just a lightsaber?” That seems like a huge cross section for the his nerdy type of comedy

You know full well that you've already seen multiple comments from 5 months earlier all saying the exact same thing. Why do this?.. do you just really want to try and get attention? Is it boredom and need for likes?.. is it just ignorance?.. I'll never understand why people will comment the same thing many people already have acting as if they thought it up on their own..
A cat show might be like a Monster truck show. Once in a lifetime is enough. At least you don’t need earplugs for a cat show.😎😎😎
Richard is so charming at 10:10. This scene plays like a dream, I'm sorry! He seems so posh, you wouldn't expect him to be so sweet about someone burping so deeply in his face. (LOL) But Mel is so cute too! If he's actually like this off camera, his wife is so lucky! The reassurance, making the excuse for her, even pouring her more... I need this man.

Wtf that museum put the women’s rights exhibit in a tiny KITCHEN CUPBOARD?
Richard treads a very fine line between humor and being downright insulting. His affected ignorance on multiple topics borders on total dismissal of others' traditions. "Oh, show me your traditional clog dance. That must be really hard on your bunions." Funny morphs into crudely embarrassing in a heartbeat. Cambridge as opposed to Oxford?
