It was awful, it's something that could happen to me, because I would make that initial joke too, "whoops, haha!", and then CRASH! 😂

That was truly heartbreaking. I think he thought it was connected to the base.

Based on the expression of the owner and Chris’ demeanor, it seemed planned.

the lookk of the shopkeeper when johny vegas started to haggle for the price is so hard to watch . why do brits and americans think is ok to haggle in countries where their money is already worth so much more . such a lack of self awareness

If it's a behavior Jeremy Clarkson finds incredibly rude that's saying something... At the end of the day it's all about them wanting to feel savvy and streetsmart like a kid from the suburbs who listens to hip hop to pretend to be less sheltered. I'm from southeast asia and it's a pretty common sight to see sunbrunt dudes with a $1000 watch (which is the one they felt safe travelling with) try to haggle a pair of flip flops down from $5. Even locally it's considered distasteful for someone clearly in a different tax bracket to haggle. Westerners have convinced each other that "it's part of the culture" and they're just "respecting" that.

@@Angels510 ohh wow they sound horrible. When I travel to countries with a worse economy than mine I tip everywhere I go and I'm not even rich. So distasteful. It must give such a bad image of westerners

A lot of westerner bashing going on here but how about the "natives" that up the price by 200% in a lot of cases when they see a white guy? Makes sense why we'd haggle down from being ripped off.
@BeavzMC

@@Angels510 People can still say no when someone tries haggling, they dont have to go along with it unless they're open to haggling, its not considered rude for a business to say no to someone trying to haggle, i get your points but its a silly argument when you add in logic,
Serious question: Is Richard really such a wuss with respect to food, or is it his persona for the series? He and Bourdain would have been explosive!
