I like how you point out that the foundation of overexplaining is blurred boundaries.

I just ended up overexplaining myself and I identified is might be a trauma response. Because, when I over Explain, I feel extreme pressure on myself. and fear of something. And I searched for it in youtube and found you! You explained it so well. I got my answers here. Im thankful. Love

I totally get you. Indeed, we feel the urge to overexplain and at the same time we feel extremely uncomfortable while doing that. It's so conflicting. I'm glad you found your answers in my video ☺️

I don't think you overexplained yourself in the comment. But in any case, try not to judge yourself too harshly. I found your comment valuable, daring and sweet. 🙃

This video is exactly me. I overexplain so that people would understand me. They kept saying "I get it, you explained it" but when they try to talk it again, they won't get it. It felt like everytime I explain, people would hate me.

Oh noo, I'm so sorry to hear that. Sometimes people tell us to stop not because they understood but maybe because they don't want to understand. Because that would be that they would be held accountable or they would need to take action 😉 Don't blame yourself. Be kind to yourself and kindly explain (not overexplain) to them as well.

Thank you so much; I really needed to hear this. I've spent my whole life trying to make sure no one would abandon me, so I have subconsciously taken on all the emotional burden in my friendships by over-explaining myself and always policing my language and making sure I don't risk hurting anyone. It's been so exhausting...and I'm grateful I have been learning that a lot of my lack of energy is partially due to my need to spend energy overexplaining and feeling the need to justify everything I do. Childhood trauma is so draining even when you don't realize it is....

@@vassiasar After listening to this I felt that the desire to be recognised within a conversation was actually acting as a barrier to connection. I think what I'm curious about is if there are any practices that are useful for cultivating a less anxious approach towards social interactions!
