OUR MATE GARY

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Gary is a bit of a legend around our area, still riding a couple of times a week at the tender young age of 68!
Out rides many guys half his age on his trusty Beta 300RR.
His only secret weapon is a Rekluse clutch to take the load off his old tradesman hands (He laughs it off as 'Buying skills'!
Hope to be riding with you for many more year mate, its a pleasure to do so.

Thanks for the message 👌 Yes, correct on all front. There are more pieces of great track in there that I didn't show, would have made it a very long vid, but it's an awesome spot. Hope to have Gaey around for lots of years yet to share them with!

When in loam... 😂 Yes anyone dirt riding after 60 automatically gets dirt god status in my book.

I would love to get into enduro offroad riding. I'm 39 (and around brissy) and would rather start sooner than later but everything I see tells me the only legal thing I can do is ride on dirt roads basically. Either that or pay 50 bucks for a day... Where do you find decent places to ride? I would like to buy 2/3/400 acres of my own to ride on but even that I think would be limited after a while. I feel like I might be one of these guys who can ride when I'm 70 though so I'm not too concerned about starting right the heck now, but I'd rather live the life I want for as long as I want, not just get there in the end.

Thanks for the message. The rules in the forest are as you said, fairly mundane and you are supposed to keep to the formed roads. Most riders in the various forests will use those roads to get to the good stuff.... If i were starting out, I'd choose something like the Sherco 300 SEF 4 stroke that is in some of my other videos. It is the type of bike that can really do most things well. It's light enough to pick up often when learning, has enough power to grow into later, but is friendly enough for someone starting out as well. Can do hard terrain with some clutch work and will run along a forest road at 80-90k no worries at all as well. As far where, I'd choose one of the popular forests closer to Brisbane and ride around looking for tracks, do the ones that challenge you and enjoy yourself 👌 There's Life Between The Trees 🙂

@@Danger_mouse thanks Dangermouse. I'm 105kg (without gear) so I'm looking at bigger bikes. I think I've settled on the KTM 350 EXC-F. I would like the lightest bike, I like mountain - biking, but being big and having ridden a big twin on the road for 15 years I want some torque. I'm not really keen on two strokes either, maybe one day. I just wish the EXC-F came with an air fork so I would only need a shock spring to match my weight.

@@Firepath Having ridden both bikes back to back, the 300SEF Sherco is a very good match for the 350EXC, costs less to buy and won't need to have the fork valving done before you can ride the bike. I've ridden several 350s in white and in Orange plastics and can honestly say that I'd choose the Sherco if it was my money. 👍 Those KYBs are on another level from the WP gear.
