OS&Y Fire Sprinkler Riser Valve Overview and Test

1977 6" OS&Y type fire sprinkler valve manufactured by Traverse City Iron Works. This was removed from a carpeting store in the mid-1990's.
As always, don't tamper with life safety systems in real facilities. Enjoy!

Sir Gate valve and os &y valve are same ??
The rescue squad that my parents volunteer at has something like this from 2001 with potter bells so when it would go off the bells will ring im getting the bells soon and they have a box on the wall with replacement sprinkler heads I'm getting

Cool! I had honestly forgotten about my sprinkler head box for a while until I read your comment. I've got six or so 1995 heads plus a 1959 Star Model D head in there.
The valve never works that good in real life. Unless you move these valves often, which you won’t they lock up really easily and sometimes don’t hold
