Still unable to digest the level of emotional maturity the kid has. Man, i wish i had such courage and maturity. I was barely able to control my tears watching this video. This isn't actually a question about maturity. The kid might be traumised by emotions. Not being able to grieve about someone so close to you is a symptom of being traumised. It is always a healthy practice to grieve. You can research around and you'll see not being able to grieve is actually a side effect of being so traumised that you feel this is how it should be, this has nothing to do with maturity. Further seeing your loved ones in some other thing in this case being the teddy bear, another sign of having trauma that you cannot handle your emotions. This is a study done under psychology. The best option would be to get psychological help as it would help him to grieve slowly and would be very good for his emotional health.

To the quint team, please try to suggest his family to take him for psychotherapy. It is very important for this kid to seek therapy. I'm a psychology student, and I can tell that this is not just a normal mature kid. He might be a mature individual in general, but not shedding a tear after your parents' death is definitely not a normal coping mechanism. No matter how mature someone is (even the grownups), everyone goes through different phases of grief after such a big trauma. Some might handle it better than others, but his case is more serious as he isn't showing any symptoms of grief. If his trauma is not treated in time, it can lead to consequences for him in the future. He needs to learn healthy coping mechanisms. This isn't just a case of a mature kid handling his parents' death well, it might be more serious than that. Please reach out to the family and inform them about this.

Ikr! I was just going to comment the same, that please advice the family to get help for the kid, even though he might look fine to them. This can literally manifest itself in a multitude of problems in the future for the kid, many of which all of them won't even realise he has until it is too late. I can literally see it in his eyes, he maybe doesn't understand death, but he does understand loss, and this feeling will be stuck with him if he is left on his own

Dad died in 1989 and was there when he died. Mom died in 1997. My uncle passed in 2005. I cried like heck when my parents passed. After I processed my uncle's passing I cried. My heart goes out to this precious child. I have an 8 year old son as well. I can see how brave and mature this child is and have no doubt that despite his loss he will successfully cope and move on because of his clarity in expressing his views, experiences and his situational awareness. I'm also pleasantly surprised by how much empathy he has for others when he talked about shielding another child from his loss so that she would not be affected by it. This child is very well brought up. I'm so sorry that his parents missed seeing him grow up into a fine young man.
