After watching this video, how many here felt lucky to have parents that cared for you, protected you at every step, educated you and made a better person out of you. I feel blessed my parents and family are always there for me. There is no pain like not knowing who you are. I sincerely feel the pain of this girl and I truly hope she finds what she is looking for. Maybe she is just looking for a closure.

Also be thankful to the family who adopted you gave a nice name Mahogony. Which is a valuable strong tree. So be strong willed don't bow to emotions try finding what's right and wrong. Enough of hardships. As far as India is concerned, India is beautiful and Indians are warm hearted people. Like anywhere people are there to cheat so be careful

Her story is honestly heartbreaking. Her biological family left her for dead so even if she does end up finding them, they probably wouldn't want a relationship with her. She should focus on her future and leave this behind.

I agree, Mahogany should move on -- from this terrible past. But yes, this is clearly very difficult for her emotionally, as it would be for most of us... In American society today however, it is possible to construct a "family' of friends, a group consisting of people in their 50-60s, and 20-30s. Not many people, just 4 or 5. These individuals may not know that they will be Mahogany's family, but she should know that, and work on building this put-together family. I wish her God's blessings in this enterprise....

And at that age how will she know she was abandoned by her parents, when she doesn't know anything prior to that day. She only knows her name and nothing else. And if they abandoned her, why is she searching for them ? You cannot judge someone based on one side this soon.

@@aj00.7official she was abandoned at 3. Kids that young mostly can't make permanent memories. She wants a family, she is longing for one since her adoptive mother was abusive.

Think not twice but a thousand times before you reunite with your birth family who abandoned you just because you were a girl child. You are independent and can extend your help to many others like you. Chances of getting abused are greater if you reunite. It might satisfy you emotionally for the moment but will leave you drained for the rest of your life. Hope you make a wise decision.

I was pushed out of my house as I had chronic eczema. Ipurchased a 1 bhk flat taking loans fm my friends & dept. I never had enough food to eat. When my parents died, I didn't go & see ther dead bodies. They died in my heart long back. Forget India

How do you know that she was abandoned because she was a girl child? It seems you want to go to US with her. Why don’t you become her adopted relative ?

You may think that’s sound advice, but be mindful about projecting your desires onto others. Not everyone wants to have kids. Not all women feel the need to obtain fulfilment through having kids. Additionally, we have seen from this vid that not everyone should have kids.

Ive seen lots of children from india being adopted by people from the US. India really needs to be on top with keeping records because situations such as this will happen more often and it may be impossible trace back to her parents. I hope Rakhi/Mohogany finds them soon.

Her biological family didn't want her and just left her for dead, she shouldn't go looking for them. Even if she ends up finding them, they wouldn't want her back.

She could have been lost.

Most probably her family abandoned her because they were poor or worst case scenario because she’s a girl. Its better to move on because there is rarely a good ending with an abandoned child. People in 1990s didn’t like girls, may you heal from all the trauma and pain.

Very sorry to hear what you have gone through. I don't know why the adoption people did not check your American mother's background. My concern is that, as much as you want to be reunited with your family, even if you find family or relatives, people might take advantage of your situation and put you in trouble. So, please be careful. For now, go back to your studies or job, protect your savings, and have trusted friends around you. Maybe you will be able to have your own family one day and give that love that you are looking for now. Best wishes to you.

The best way to figure out or find out is by approaching the local media of the local language of the district or state you were found from. Go to the newspapers, radio and local TV channels, ask them to cover the news in the local language and do offer monetary rewards to anyone who'd help or come forward with any information. That'll really encourage people to come forward. I hope you do it and it helps you find your family. May your story have a happy ending or if it's otherwise, may you get the closure you deserve. Great advice. Launch 'appeals' for help..the stations will expect a nominal fee- a few thousand rupees and post your story for a few minutes- there are so many tv channels - pick the top 5 or 10 most watched locally....your baby pics need to feature for the most air time in each appeal - plus a reward that leads to your family. Oh my god thank you for this. I do not know what this beautiful young woman hopes to find in India. Even if by 1 in billion stroke of luck she does find the biological family, they are very unlikely to be the family she hopes to find. Instead, why not focus on her life forward the past is the past and does not define who she is and what she can become.

You are an absolutely amazing young woman! Congratulations to you for coming up and completing your education and growing up to be a nice young kid despite not having family support and Manu challenges. Hope you will find a way to fulfill your life by understanding young people who are going thru similar situations. @@Suresh_Kamath We have records of the ships logs which state the villages our great grandparents originated from, some folks have trace their families using this information while others use DNA information, I found more than 80 relatives using DNA but then not everyone in India has DNA profiles.

If you are abandoned its better not to look for them. I understand you feel void inside without knowing your roots but believe me, after knowing your roots you may be hurt even more. Also, even if you find your family they may try to exploit you by showing false emotion since you are settled in USA.
