This is starting to feel a lot like a re-telling of Wise Man's Grandchild. The trouble I have with modern anime is that the same plot points, character tropes, and story motivations are being re-used over and over again with a new coat of paint. I miss the days of originality we had decades ago with Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Sword Art Online, Witch Hunter Robin, and Goku: Midnight Eye. It just feels like every new season we are seeing the same shows.

Isekai follows a lot of copy paste now since a lot comes off of a site where dudes would post their novels for free. It started with rezero, overlord, Tanya the evil, and Mushoku tensei back in the early 2010s. It’s pretty much evolved from there with wannabes and copies trying to get off of the same trope taking bits from popular isekai novels at the time. Now a lot of those isekai are getting adapted by ground feeder studios while the goated ones are too. It’ll be like this for a while. I don’t expect isekai to go away just like character tropes haven’t gone away. Hella hyped for Mushoku tensei season 2 this year tho.
