@@wbtorres1 It's totally based on your preference. Will you be showing this in a very lit room? Go for a ALR screen which is pretty expensive. If you're placing this in a dark room, like my garage which I converted to a home theatre, then go for a traditional screen with a grey material for high contrast. Those are much cheaper.

@@wbtorres1 the best bang for the buck is from XY screens. If you need 120 inch or less get pet crystal. If you need up to 200 get their pet grid screen.

If I had misses that amazing VAVA deal of LESS THAN $2,000, then of course the Optoma P2 wins @ $3,000. However, with VAVA's regular price of $2,799, then P2 (@ $3,200) all day!

Waiting for 120hz, VRR, and a true tri laser before I upgrade again. My first and second projector didn't have a color wheel, I miss that 😔 That LG is close but cost too much considering its missing modern high end TV features.

Well knowing Samsung I know one thing for sure, the Samsung projector will be pricey around 6000 to 8000 USD or may be up to 10000. There pricing of their products are ridiculous.

Please review the Samsung Premier when you can. I'm waiting for your review before deciding on which short throw to purchase. Glad to see so many competitors being released.

Input lag won't be an issue for me since I'm planning on putting one of these in the Master Bedroom so I can be rid of Flat Panel TVs in the house altogether! Great review as per usual! Looking forward to the LS500 review, but mostly for how quiet the fan is this time around......and the brightness....and 4k support...and input lag...ok, I'm just looking forward to the review as a whole. lol!

Hey man loved the video. I just got one today. For adding a subwoofer to the p2 will the built in speakers still play or will it all come out of the subwoofer. Very new to home theater set ups.

I was unsure but took a punt and bought this a month a go, before there were any reviews. Can definitely say I am very happy with it. Picture is quality. Definitely agree the interface is rubbish though, but have the Ps5 hooked up anyway. Definitely need an ALR screen to go with it 👍

@@michaelkopec.5814 I absolutley LOVE the P2, however I have it setup in my living room which gets plenty of daylight. Unless I close my curtains, it's not that enjoyable to watch on a sunny day TBH. That being said watching it at night or during a cloudy days is spectacular. When folks come by and we watch a movie or just TV it is common for people to comment how awesome the picture quality is. Feel like having mini-cinema at home.

picked up mine about 3 weeks ago paired with a 100" vividstorm screen. a superb bit of kit

I want to get the exact same combination. Is it easy to set up together from the stand or do you have to raise/lower one of the two to get the image positioned right? What is the approximate distance needed between the screen and the projector? And is the difference between screen and white wall considerable? Sorry for the many questions

I waited about 5 years for a laser UST projector with low input lag. My CHIQ B5u cost half that for about 60ms lag. It's ok unless you need headshots on moving targets and the speakers are ok but I Bluetooth to better ones. Maybe in another 5 years input lag on laser USTs will be even better, in time for hdmi 2.1 and widespread affordable 4k/60fps gaming. Thanks for the video!

My issue is that I have the elite screens cinegray 3D 135” ALR screen and am worried about the picture quality if I stretch the P2 to that size. Hey Chris, Great review. I saw your review (and some others) and have bought this projector. The picture is great. But I’m having issues with the sound. My a/v source is a PS3. If the source is a 2ch sound, the projector speakers play it. But if the sound is multi channel (5.1 or higher) Blu Ray/dvd, then it seems that it plays just the surround channels. I tried a multi channel Mkv file on a usb stick - same issue. Any and all help will be appreciated to resolve this issue.

I know this is old but the response time is 50 seconds plus. For a casual game its fiine, but anything competive (FPS, Racing, Sports) will be hard to play with that input lag albeit, not impossible

Hi Chris, what would you recommend, optoma P2 (I already have it but can return it) but the menu is sluggish nad auto source switching don't work at all. Is Hisense px1 is an better option for the daily use? I can buy it for 250$, Or maybe Formovie? Which unfortunately is unavailable on our market so no warranty provided.

So its seems that the best short throw projector is still the LG! I order one yesterday but have a question related to the projection screen. For my room, I'm looking for an ALR screen that's sound transparent. My center ch. is quite large (Klipsch RP 504C) and it sits directly on top of my media stand with only 1" of space to the bottom of the TV hanging on the wall. I'm looking for either a drop down or rising screen. I plan on leaving my Sony 85" Master Series on the wall and have the screen drop/rise in front of it for movies. I’m struggling to find 3D glasses that work well. Just got some Boblov ones and whilst picture looks great, it drops in and out of sync every 30 seconds or so. Any ideas? Thank you in advance

How well does it work with HDMI 2.1 devices like the new Denon 2020 receivers? I have the P1 it has serious issues trying to negotiate the video signal lock with my Denon AVR.

Got a few questions please. 1. If its in gaming mode, does it still project HDR compatible games in HDR? I worry that in order to play HDR games in HDR, the projector must be set to HDR mode with with worse input lag vs having it set to game mode with better input lag, but no longer projecting in HDR. 2. Is there a post conversion feature/button that converts 2D content into 3D like with my LG OLED C6? 3. Will passive 3D glasses work or does it only support active 3D glasses. Thank you.

Hello Chris. I create my set up with your instructions, but little sad, as my Yamaha RX-V6A+ Nvidea shield is not working perfectly with P2, 2 to 3 minutes to show up the shield image. Is there any configuration to be performed, as optoma support is not helping at all.

I have a question. Most of the ust projectors use 0.47 inch native 1080p ti dlp chip. So when we play content in 4k they downscale the content to 1080p, then upscale 4K with pixelshifting. I wonder, for example, playing content from KZread, is picture quality the same when playing 1080p and 4k?

Can you mount this your ceiling like a normal projector? Yes it'd still had to be a short distance, but wondering if still possible to ceiling mount a short throw small kids can't get to it.

Im looking into buying a 4k projector but cannot decide between ultra short throw or regular throw (Do not care about distance) Im around 3k willing to spend, given that i dont really see comparisons between Vava vs 5050ub (As example) idk who projects better image quality and black levels. Any suggestions on that? Also, I think Vava released a 2nd version of it. 🤓

When viewing in a completely dark room, with white walls, is it better to have a white or black UST projector? Which colour projector is less noticeable while watching movies/gaming? I'm thinking of getting the Optoma P2............so can you still play games in game mode with HDR enabled? My LG TV has a HDR Game mode which allows HDR gaming and improved input lag at the same time. I'd hate to use the P2 for gaming in game mode for better input lag, but have to go without the HDR for games that support it. Also, I hear the Optoma P2 has an input lag of around 69ms while my LG TV is around 34ms. Is 69ms still ok for first person shooters? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks
