For those wondering what the connection is used it is a Curt 55384 T Connector that is what you need to do a clean install.

I have had this installed on my 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 since they first came out (Only time I EVER purchased from a FB ad). This has been the best looking and highest quality light bar I've ever used, and I have been through SEVERAL. I used the mechanical clip install because it "levels out" the unevenness of a well used truck bed to give a nicer even clean look (versus the peel and stick). I also wired everything under the truck and all I can say is that this light bar is super cool, unique and just a bad-ass eye catcher PLUS it works as advertised and LASTS with zero burn outs or leaks thus far which is well over a year+. Get this one if you are on the fence.

To all that have a newer vehicle that have a 7 pin connector on the back of there vehicle that will take a newer curt #56584 is a better option because it eliminates having to splice into your tailight wiring..... the difference is the curt #56584 has the 7 pin splitter but has a 5 pin connector on the other end and the 4 pin will plug into the 5 pin and the extra empty wire is the backup lights that all you need is a crimp on bullet connector on the wire coming from your OPT7 reverse wire..... no cutting or splicing needed... Hope this helps

What's the difference between this one and 55384?

  • @sirbutchford

    @sirbutchford

    6 жыл бұрын

Joseph Tucker .... They both hook into your 7 pin on the backside of the bumper the same but the difference is that the #56584 has a 5 pin flat plug instead of the 4 pin flat plug and that extra pin is your reverse. It makes it so much easier because you don't need to tie into your factory reverse wiring up at the tailight because all the connections are done at the plug..... It took me awhile to figure out that the 4 pin plug will plug into the 5 pin plug on the Curt adapter but after I plugged it in and tested the leftover 5th pin I knew I discovered an easier way that breaking into the factory wiring... Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Good video on an A1 product! Here's my personal review of this light bar ... Purchased one of these w/ the red sequential signals for my "2004 Ram" - did the install using a CURT 55384 adapter harness + also used a short 2-way (2 into 1) harness for an added tow hitch light. Didnt use the 5-pin factory plug hookup at the bumper for anything other than its rear access plug for that CURT adapter. Did have to take the white to the left tail (for reverse) & did this splice where its harness comes up at the frame rail. All was completed within a few hours - all was working perfectly first try with no flaws - yes it all still works after months of usage - never an issue. There is a very short light delay which is of no concern to me - its very minimal - doesnt bother me & all I showed it to once installed never brought it up - it's not an issue to worry about. All lighting is very bright (brighter than most others I've seen in day or night) - Reverse will light up a parking lot - why would u need anything brighter? Ges u could just install some 1000 watters if u need to blind even yourself! BTW - I didnt even remove the tailgate for the install - marked a few lines where the top of the lite bar would be using a grease pencil - it lined up perfect first time - all 3 rows can be seen below the gate & above the bumper. As far as having spare tire access - (my spares in the bed under a bed cover) - if that concerns u than dont buy cuz u will block that access hole. Other than that my conclusion - very impressed with this light bar - highly recommend it - simply a good choice I made ... 'bar none'.

Wasn't about to cut the wiring for the tail light ... took the feed for the reverse light on the light bar , took some of the insulation off of that and took the reverse bulb out of my tail light and put it on the bottom of the bulb and then into the socket again ... works every time! No splicing, cutting ect.. ..

I have a OBT7 Redline Triple LED Tailgate light bar Installed on my 2022 Tundra 1794. Everything works great. No codes/errors on Dash. Then, I noticed on one of my house cameras that when going forward from Braking that the whole light bar flashed Yellow before red brake light appears. It's a quick second or so. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it don't. Has anyone experience that or can check their OBT7 lighbars. You have to have someone watch from behind maybe in a parking lot or driveway.

For anyone that wants to do this... there is a much easier way. Open the loom on the trailer harness and spice a 6 Pin Douche Connector onto the trailer harness, then put the male end of that connector on the LED bar. done. 10 Min install. Most trucks will have a reverse wire in the 7 pin trailer harness.

I had a question, I installed the same OPT7 triple light led bar with the amber singnal lighting. However, once I installed it, i hardwired it to the trailer connection wiring. My backup assist is disabled on the backup camera and the auto shut-off is disabled as well. Is there anyway I can get those features to work with the led still connected to my truck. I installed it on a 2017 F-150. The led light works great, however it thinks I have a trailer connected so the auto-shut off is disabled and the back-up assist is off the back-up screen.

Fitment for the Redline Triple LED is based on the amount of Tailgate's available flat surface length-wise. If your vehicle has 48" of available space length-wise across the tailgate then the 48" version will fit nicely. If you have 60" of available space length-wise across the tailgate then the 60" version should be purchased. Spare Tire Access Port Accessibility: The Redline Triple LED will cover any existing spare tire access ports. However, the spare tire can still be accessed and lowered using the proper socket wrench from underneath the vehicle.

I agree. I'd say you can do just that. No need to remove the tail light and dork with the factory wiring. I would also do a little more than just wrap the two wires together and throw electrical tape over it. That will work for a bit but will eventually work it's way loose. Solder that connection and slip some heat shrink tape on it to make it water proof.

We have two different color models available. One that uses Amber for sequential turns and the other uses Red for sequential turns.

On some vehicles your hole for the spare will be covered up, so to access the spare you would need to remove it

Is a load resistor required when wiring in older trucks?

  • @granddaddy1410

If you are using an older Toyota truck or a truck with separate turn brake signal you will need a 3-2 converter or 4-3 converter depending on your vehicles set up to get the trailer connector setup. I used the CURT 58240 Non-Powered 3-to-2-Wire Taillight Converter. I am updating my lights with LED lighting. You will need a power resister for the older vehicles with the old style flashers. My lights work great except the turn signal function is still intermittent and the harzard function is not working for the OPT7 as I type this. The tech support at OPT7 has been.... well..... not really very helpful.... sorry OPT7. Hope this info helps.... I am sure this light bar is going to fantastic once I figure out the nuances....

    1) never ever use tape. Get heat shrink. 2) no need to start the vehicle. Set parking brake, turn on key, throw in reverse, film. Done.

That Curt 7 pin to 5 pin isn't the same as in the video. I'm still looking for the one in the video he uses to to work with the light bar which is a 4 pin connection. Any one have a link or idea where to get the exact same one he uses in the video?
