Mine was just like the old M7s. Notorious handle gap and all. Now, it was sort of sharp from the factory, but not really. The blade tines were not aligned and the cutting was jagged and snagged. I ran a carbide over it a few times, and then ceramic over it a lot in order to shave off a little of the edge and straighten it out. Took a while, but it's a far smoother and sharper blade now.

yep, high carbon steel is difficult to sharpen. When it is sharp it stays sharp for a long time 🔪

Mines a good old milpar used in Vietnam had the scabbard with the marking on it

The gap is quiet normal and varies from piece to piece so ive heard. Have the same one it is great.
