U.S. Marines Issue Bayonet Knife Ontario OKC3S Review

This is the same current issue bayonet used on M4 and M16 rifles. Very good knife, and will fit the civilian AR15 if it has a bayonet lug. Check out the Review. Very cool, and very nice.

I just ordered one... the M9 bayonet was worthless(I broke many in training) and the M7 was too small for anything but pig sticking. USMC did a good job in their selection.

I was issued the M7 bayonet and for a short time in the MEU the M9 bayonet both kinda sucked this was definitely well thought out knife/bayonet. I have to say as a Former Marine when the Corps changes anything they really do their work like the Cammie uniform they were spot on for camouflage years of research started in the mid 1990s implemented in the early 2000s I believe the woodland color was changed twice for better camo pattern. I can say not having the big budget of the Army makes the Marine Corps try harder before spending money outstanding job USMC! I believe the Corps goes without until the research and development phase is over before the adopt anything the Army should have done the homework on the BDU camo and the Airforce should be slapped for following in their footsteps but the navy with the Stupid digital bdu blue color? the sad part is the Armys refusal to stop issue of the Mold green color is absolute stupidity ? Why keep issuing equipment that does nothing for the soldier but put them in harms way?

Thanks for the video, I will be getting one of these soon. I just bought an OKC Chimera, I have an original Buck M9 Phrobis III, unused in pristine condition, when I get this OKC Bayonet the same thing will probably happen, I won't be able to actually use it because it's just too beautiful. I end up using cheap knives I buy for twenty bucks that I don't care about.

Just a little tidbit. An AR with a 16 inch barrel and carbine length gas system, the barrel is too long for the ring to fit on the flash hider(and thus will not attach properly). A 14 inch barrel rifle with a long or extended flash hider (to make the length 16) like in the video is fine. If you have a mid length gas system or a full length gas system (with 16 inch or 20 inch barrel respectively) then a bayonet fits just fine. The length of the gas system matters because the front sight post/bayonet lug is also the gas block.

Always loved the intimacy of knives, no psych. btw., just a lover of good steel, it's pretty big but I would so go well in my collection, not a huge fan of serration as they tend to give certain trouble in pulling out of targets on the bayonets, but good on regular knives, but over a lovely piece Ontario knows its trade,

There is no "proper" way. It's ambidextrous. The cross strap is large enough that it easily swings out of the way when pulling out the bayonet with the edge facing toward the strap. I was issued mine with 2nd Marine Division 2005-2009. Bought another for the feels when I got out.

I believe the short M203 you are talking about only mounts to the picitinny rail right?

I understand this question is 2 yrs old but thought others may want to know as well... that the M9 is and never was full tang. It's stick tang or rather rat tail tang. It's much like the Kabar that due to the design of the handle is not possible to do full tang. The m9 and the kbar both have metal that runs most of the length of the handle but it's about 1/3 the width of the blade and far weaker than the blade. Ive seen both break many times when used outside the recommended intended purpose.
