OnePlus Open Review: The first uncompromising book-style foldable phone

Ғылым және технология

The OnePlus Open is an impressive book-style foldable that looks to directly take on the titans of the industry, Samsung.
The phone is the outcome of a partnership between OnePlus and parent company Oppo, with the two working together on foldable hardware. But if you assume this is simply an Oppo Find N3 dupe, you’d be wrong. There’s still a strong presence of OnePlus DNA here, from the OnePlus-inspired cover display to the presence of the alert slider.
That said, the OnePlus Open is a foldable success, offering a no-compromise experience with great displays, solid camera tech, strong everyday performance and unique software features that truly stand out in the foldable space, all at a price much cheaper than the likes of Google and Samsung at £1599/$1699.

It's $1700 but can get it now at best buy and Amazon for $1500

The title is a bit falsy. The lack of wireless charging and the fingerprint reader on the side are certainly a compromise. I ordered mine today, will see if there's anything else I miss, but having no wireless charging means I need to plug in my phone every time in the car, and I'll be a sad owner of a QI phone holder 😂

I have wireless chargers everywhere and don't miss it one bit with this phone like I thought I might. The phone charges so FAST, I never need any of my magsafe batteries or docks I typically plug my phone in for 30 min before I go to bed and it's almost always fully charged. It has great standby time

@@JustinDufrene Yeah, I have fast charging in my current phone and I love it. But I do a lot of long rides with car, and there it'll be a hassle to plug in always. Oh well, still the best foldable on the market, so I give it a try.

@@wintercounter2 Long ride: unless these rides are 10+ hours, I see zero reason to charge your 1+ Open in the car. You charge before ride and after ride. Currently my piece asks for charger every 1,5 days or less often.

Side finger print is way better you naturally place your finger on the power button to unlock it so it makes sense to have a sensor there too. Under the screen means more finger prints.

@@hydraflyer While I disagree with that, I also encouter a lot of issues with it on the Open, a lot of misreads. It's just got harder for me to bypass the lock screen than using my previous phone. Not to mention the fake face unlock, which doesn't work in the dark. All-in-all, it's a worse experience for me so far.
