They go for a while, the rat dies almost immediately but twitches a little from the massive voltage. I have stuck my hand in one of these and they hit like a train, harder than electric fence, spark from an ignition system, I have had a large dog shock collar on my neck at max setting held down, and this trap hits harder. I am very convinced this is the most humane way to kill rodents, I would vote even more humane than live traps, since those can result in broken limbs and at least massive stress.

love to watching your videos .. I decided on the electric rat trap. I did get an aftermarket that uses an electric ac adaptor. I thought it would be best as I wasn't sure the batteries would do the trick. The aftermarket one had a plastic door and some sort of weird inside .. I placed the peanut butter inside & waited .. nothing .. the rat just chewed a large hole in the back .. so I took the plastic door off & the plastic inside out .. works great now. Thank you for your advice. I had tried others but the rat was too big or just jumped out of the live traps.

It says on Shawn's Amazon link a shocked rat can restart his heart, so this keeps juicing him for 2 minutes! SO, they can survive eating almost literally anything, a breeding pair can turn out up to 6 dozen rats in a year, they can learn to avoid traps like a PhD, AND they can restart their heart after a shock? How are they NOT our overlords?!?!

This is the Ron Popeil of traps. "Set it and forget it". I have put it out nine nights and got mice on seven of those nights. I read in the comments that it must be reset between catches and I may have failed to do that on those two nights. . My primary intent is to catch mice but also to use for rats on occasion. The concern was it would be to large for mice but that has not been an issue. No bait has disappeared so that indicates nothing got in there and escaped. The only negative is it does one mouse at a time between emptying the trap and resetting. I think I will get a bucket trap for volume catches.

ok so I got this model M241/M24TH and I caught 3 mice in three days but then I noticed that they would steal the peanut butter and avoid entering the trap.(And the bait door was securely shut tight). The mice was able to put his head thru the holes at one end of the trap instead of entering from the opposite end. I then noted in your video that there was a slanted board in the roof of the trap to prevent the rat from backing out of the trap and so I placed the peanut butter on that part of the trap thus inviting the mice to enter completely and stepping on the two medal plates. I got a mice within 10 minutes of placing the trap in my kitchen where they have been having a field day ever since my neighbor started having her kitchen remodeled. I am also trying the plaster of paris mix. Someone also told me to try bars of Ex Lax to dehydrate the mice.

You should try mounting this trap on a wall, so when the rat gets zapped, it falls out of the trap, leaving it open for another rat to enter.
