Thank you for the safety tip of only holding on the non trap end. Understanding this helped me to be unafraid when setting a trap for the first time.

You must not deal with the general public much judging by your passive aggressive comment. When giving advice to the general public it's a necessity to be throughout and specific.
Thanks for this video! Seems simple but when you’ve never done this before, these videos are super helpful! 🙏🏼
Thank you for saying aloud to "lift your thumb a little bit" while setting the trap. I missed that from just watching you do it, and I could not figure out how to set the trap until I heard you say that on the rewatch. Yours is the best video on this topic.
I was getting very angry at my traps always snapping on me when trying to set them up. Your technique worked like a charm. Thanks for sharing.

I had the same problem. I hold the bait plate up with a screwdriver while placing the bar in slot. works well.
I set a Victor mouse trap while watching your youtube video. I'm not kidding, the trap sprung within a half hour after placing it! Awesome! I'm going to tell everyone! God bless you and your business!
Hot glue with a piece of cat or dog food. First year I've been doing this and can't believe I didn't hear about it before. Haven't had a sprung trap without a mouse yet. I just use a pack of glue sticks from dollar tree and a lighter. Works awesome.

Warmed up squashed tootsie rolls work every time as well bc they require some work to get it off the trap
my company trained us to place a bait in the notch on the trigger plate side, not necessarily in large quantities however. We also had a tendency of placing them near the path of fecal matter they leave behind.
Bro, you are awesome, hope you get back to the channel, I just started watching recently and saw you haven’t been uploading but I hope everything is going good during this quarantine
I would use a Q-tip to set the fluff; this is a great video!
Thank you for the setting explanation between sensitive and firm. I didn't see anything on the package about this setting. And, after, catching my hand, then finger, I searched and found your video, then looked very closely, and seen the letter's. Thanks!
great video and clear explanations! thank you!

Thank you!! My peanut butter bait didn't work. I was just feeding them the last two nights!! I was putting it in that little "box" of yellow near the center, instead of under the V !! Let's see how it works tonight!! Loved your video!!
Thanks for the video. I use these traps for voles. It works, I mix PB, sunflower seeds and oats. Place near the holes, cover with a bucket. Have gotten a vole 5 days in a row now. These pests have destroyed many plants and trees. Excited that I have a solution.
Thanks guy. I did not know about the f and the s on the traps. I have always put them along walls and baseboards the way you talked about. I'M game to see bug infestations and any other content you want to share. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Great video. I thought I had a rat since we did have rats in our old building. But it turns out I have a mouse or mice so I got a package of these Victor traps today. The ones I got have a yellow plastic pedal with holes in it to look like cheese lol. Well, I'm going to just fill the middle hole with a little bait, it seems like a tiny amount but it's a lot for a mouse. If I had ones like yours with the V in the pedal, I think I'd put a sticker on the back of the V (so it won't fall through) and fill the V with bait. It should only take a very small amount. Thanks for the useful tutorial!
Great and informative video love all your content keep it up

As a pest tech your advice on this is spot on and concise, small bits of oven chips work well also although they need placing carefully. I've always been a fan of traps as a way of rapidly reducing a problem with bait to clear any residual followed by proofing. Very satisfying to actually solve a problem via the above that other techs have been called out to repeatedly often for years as they can't be bothered to do proofing.

Good video. I hold the plastic plate up with a screw driver while setting the trap. Had no idea about the sensitivity setting.
Excellent video, but I don't really like these traps because the quality is poor. I got two traps today, and only one of them worked. The other one wouldn't hold on to the yellow plastic part. The older Victor traps (that only used metal and wood) were much better.
Thank you soooooo much!!!

Hmm. Bought 2 dozen traps. Used marshmallow fluff and peanut butter and peanut butter with a tiny piece of dehydrated chicken. Not one trap with marshmallow was touched. The best killer was the peanut butter with the teeny chicken piece. Since then I have found a new trap called kat sense. It is plastic and very easily reusable without touching anything. Check them out.

I cut one the very first night and was so excited and then two days went by and I didn't see anymore and I didn't see any in the traps but then today I noticed all of the traps despite being set I had no more peanut butter on them so you were right and they could get that peanut butter off without setting the trap. No I didn't have the yellow pedals Victor's I had the metal I did just get the yellow pedal ones in the mail today so I'm setting them but I tried a few of them with the fluff instead and I'm facing them the opposite way of against the wall like I originally was after watching this video so fingers crossed that it works. We had a abandoned house next hours and someone bought it and they came in and cleaned it all out and got an exterminator but the exterminator didn't kill them it just sent them away and guess whose house they all came into 🙋♀️🤦🏻♀️😭 so now I've been battling them for 2 months I've caught a few in live traps I tried to be nice at first but now it's just no way I can't be nice anymore unfortunately. so I'm praying that this works cuz I rent but my landlord is not wanting to get an exterminator. 🙄
Thanks so much for the techniques on how and where to place and what bait works good. I practically did the fluff and placed on against the wall. The only thing i did wrong was i placed the trap the long side against the wall instead of the way you did with the bait part against the wall. Now im going the swith them around. Thanks so much again for you advise and please post any other videos that may be helpful with rodents. Thanks so much. Question: Does it matter if you use gloves when setting up the trap? Supossedly the mice/mouse smell the human scent on the trap and that makes them to stay away. Thanks again. Stay safe and healthy. God bless.
I tie a walnut onto the bait plate with dental floss. When the bugger tries to pull it off WHAMO!
I don't like these newer traps with the plastic catch. I think the metal worked a lot better. They were way more sensitive it would trigger side-to-side not just down.
Great video: I never noticed F and S settings on the Victor trap, but this is surprising in 2 big ways: First, I think the model I get at Lowe's is different: the bait holder has no "V" on it, but is molded with holes in it resembling cheese (I put peanut chew candy on it , with some raw chopped almonds and filbert/hazel nut pushed into the sticky candy); secondly, the hooking mechanism, no matter where I place the bar, seems to have a virtually non-existent grip, so it takes a lot of work for me to set the trap without it going off (often 7-10 very unpleasant attempts), and I've resorted to using a tool to slightly roughen the plastic to get some grip, and even with that it can require several tries. I'm sure I'm using a light touch, and very, very, very carefully draw my finger from beneath the hinge, but no matter what the trap seems hyper-sensitive with barely any grip at all. Wondering if it's a different model. It's so much work to set it that I don't want to un-set one to look for the S and F. If one goes off (not happened since watching the video, but I caught a few before), I'll check. Thanks again for the great video and any reply/ies!

Oh, yes. These newer traps (with the yellow plastic) are inferior to the old ones that were only metal, and wood. I got two traps today, and only one of them held. It was frustrating. It snapped on my finger, and got peanut butter everywhere!

@@paper_gem I recommend a mix of plaster of Paris, flour, and a small amount of sugar and cocoa. I’m not an expert, but this seems to be what resolved the problem for me. Haven’t seen mice in several months after using this poison mix. Oh yeah; I happened to have some almond flour, which I also mixed in, in very small quantities. I’d estimate it was 47.5% flour, 50% plaster of Paris, and the remaining 2.5% a mix of almond flour, sugar and cocoa. I think a mix like this is irresistible to them.
Thanks for the instructions. Is it true that mint repels mice?
Thank you so much; we just spotted another field mouse this morning and the though of glue traps makes me want to scream. I don't like killing the buggers for the heinous crime of existing in my presence, but I guess a quick death is better than the glue trap. Thank you for the bait tip too! I didn't know what to use and I've got a ton of peanut butter around!

Do you have a video on really tiny ant's? They seem to be around water area's, bathroom, kitchen sink, etc. Thanks!
Yeah. I tried tootsie roll, peanut butter, etc. But this sounds good!
thanks
This helped I got popped a few times but after trying once more I got it and cried cause I was so happy (it was my first time setting up a trap….the stupid rat crawled on my back while I was sleeping…so I had enough of it and set traps)
We set one of these last night in cupboard. Put peanut butter on. The traps gone off ,bait gone but mouse got away. If we set it again will mouse come back to it or will it now know not to go near it?
I got the oldschool copper ones, any tips for those?
So you set a trap in your basement, one year goes by, suddenly one night you hear rustling around down there. Trap being set for a year weakens the spring, so the kill bar thing didn't kill the mouse, it's trapped but alive and disabled, in the middle of the floor thrashing around, then finally stops and stares at you. You get your pellet gun and shoot it in the back of the head to hasten the process, but blood just pours out and it jumps around more. You go away to let it die, come back and it's dead but blood is everywhere. Just horrible for this poor little thing. But then you go upstairs and tell everyone it was just the mousetrap.
How is a glue trap any better if you have a dog? It'll just get stuck to their face along with a dead mouse when they notice the mouse stuck to it before you do.
Do you recommend these classic traps or the new quick kill black ones from Victor ?

I miss this channel
More tips on what to use to get rid of mice/rats what kind of things like pellets, are they useful?
INFORMATIVE.... THANKFUL!
Been positioned traps all wrong. Nice tip using the fluff.
We are having a hard time with our traps going off they get the food and no trapped mouse. I just put three tom cat bait boxes small ones and heard you say they should be outside I noticed they only ate one baiit so far so I took them up. I'm going to put them outside
@wasphunter7131
3 жыл бұрын
Yes bait boxes are best used outside. The mice die after eating the bait so if the boxes are inside they will die in the walls leaving a bad scent behind for a few days-weeks. Keep a eye on them outside see what side has the most activity and look for entry points after you determine what side they are coming from
I’ve heard the reason why peanut butter won’t work is if they’re putting too much on the trap. Mice only need very little food so if there’s too big a glob they can just take one lick & go on their way. If you put just a thin smear it works much better.

Put it under the metal
With bait on the trap, will the trap be as (or nearly as ) effective pl;aced parallel to the wall rather than perpendicular? By putting it parallel, the trap will stick out into the room less, obviously, and you can prop a book or board against the wall over the trap if you don't want to look at it. is there a danger of the mouse stepping on the wrong part of the trap, setting it off without being caught? O will the mouse avoid releasing the arm prematurely?
@wasphunter7131
Жыл бұрын
Mice will always run along the wall that why I set it faced into the wall if it was placed parallel with the wall the mouse may step on the back of the trap and set it off and not get caught. You can alway re set them if they are set off and keep the traps the way you want them also just pointing in increases the chance of them being caught
@AnonYmous-ry2jn
Жыл бұрын
@@wasphunter7131 Thanks so much for the reply! Yes you confirmed the concern (mouse stepping on wrong part of the trap, triggering without getting caught). From what I read, mouse are smart, quick learners and it seems if this happened, it's not as simple as just resetting the trap, because they could likely become afraid of traps, or avoid the path that nearly killed them. From videos I watched, mice are naturally cautious around traps (as if they sense the coiled energy in the spring and are suspicious of it being so near enticing food), so I thought maybe they're "smart" and nimble enough to - mostly - avoid the metal, and carefully go for the food, at least most of the time (50/50 they'll hit the right side anyway); I also wondered if they could still get caught, killed or injured by the trap going off even if they step on the wrong part. Do mice ever get killed by traps stepping on the non-bait side? Thanks so much again!
Victor mouse traps are very excellent in catching mouse, but if it is a small one,it won't. I guess Victor was only thinking about catching big mouse, but not small ones.
Ty for the vid, really clear instructions and very informative. Imo mice are fine and kind of cute IF and when they are pets, or wild outdoor animals that aren't coming near where people live or work. But as soon as mice are running loose in your home, crops, storage, or place of business, they can be considered vermin and its justified to take whatever measures necessary to put an end to them being there. They are just trying to survive, but its very unhygienic to have vermin running around. And unfortunately, in my experience, humane traps just don't work.
Is it gruesome when the mouse is caught?
BEND THE ARMATURE bar.! I just realized my yellow tongue can go almost all the way down without tripping the trap. The arm was a hair too long. Bend it slightly and its now very sensitive. Also, raise the tongue as high as you can before setting the bar.

I have a problem with mice but not they’re not taking over or anything, I just hate them in my home. I’ve tried flour, baking soda, white mixed with white sugar. It works but not fast enough. I have grandbabies we have custody of so I place that mixer out of sight on a paper plate & placed some on my back porch & shop. Can I put poison (to mice) in my air conditioner floor vents in rooms that the babies don’t go in? That’s the only way I’ve figured those nasty critters are coming in & destroying my house.
