📺 ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
In this video, Steve Stine shows you how to play the fingerpicking pattern used in songs like Dust in the Wind by Kansas, Marry Me by Train and many others.
It's a great pattern to learn and to use when you need something interesting to play, and want to fingerpick instead of strum.

Steve, I've been a beginning strummer for 52 years. I'm no kid anymore, but I have always had a secret desire to fingerpick songs. I just never found the right KZread video or written instructions to really get me started. That is until I came across your video above. The way you broke down each individual part and repeated it enough to help reinforce it proved very, very helpful to me. I am very excited at the prospect of being to pick, perhaps a little slowly at first, "Dust in the Wind" and I owe a big thanks to you. Thank you very much.

I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now, but I'm just learning fingerpicking. This tutorial is excellent, and you deserve to be making money from it if you aren't already.

I watch 8 videos trying to understand this pattern but couldn’t pick it up from 8 teachers, way too much info that wasn’t needed. You being number 9 hit it for me. Thanks again!

I love this song. Kerry Livgren's brother Cal was in my Navy squadron when Dust In the Wind came out. We kept begging Cal to ask Kansas to come to Bermuda where we were deployed and play a concert. They couldn't do it, of course, but it was a nice dream :-) I can't think of a better song to make my first fingerpicking practice song! Thank you for the lesson :-)
