Beginner Licks and Soloing Techniques In The Style Of David Gilmour by Steve Stine
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Guitar Solos course by Steve Stine: g.guitarzoom.com/07m
#Soloing #1970s #PinkFloyd
In this guitar lesson, Steve Stine takes the iconic guitar solos from Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" and breaks down some David Gilmour style licks and techniques. This lesson is great for a beginner who is trying to learn a little more about guitar soloing, and David Gilmour is a great place to study vibrato and bending, as well as pentatonic scales (and much more).

Steve, you have two talents, you can play and you CAN teach, you are a natural born teacher. It's a blessing.....be proud of it
There’s lots of very good teachers on KZread that you can learn a lot from, but these instructions are by far the best.
Seriously man, another great lesson. Sometimes I watch your videos without even picking up my guitar, cuz it's like hanging out with a buddy. Never preachy. Just solid instruction that's made me a way better musician. Thanks.

Well, I was watching this video without my guitar and then found this comment...seriously this guy has the most simplistic yet most effective style of explaining everything...
There is a handful of great guitar players (teachers) on here and Steve is one of them.
Seriously Steve, you are like, the best teacher someone could find online! Thanks for all the help!!
Steve I've watched literally thousands of online instruction videos. I recently found yours and they are some of the best. You have the unique gift of teaching!
That killer David Gilmour vibrato that you mentioned. He's not doing it with his left hand. He's got a strat most of the time and he's doing it with the bar on the bridge. Thanks for the lesson
Steve is an amazing teacher! Not only plays very well but explains things so clearly that it's easily understood!
Favorite Line: "Makes me want to turn my guitar into a coffee table." Love when the teacher can fan out as well. You are probably the best teacher I have seen on here. Please keep going!
Thanks Steve...I love your playing !! Would love to see more David Gilmour/Pink Floyd tutorials!
In my opinion, Steve is one of the best teachers on KZread. Just like his easygoing style and a deep understanding of beginners.
Steve, Don't ever turn your guitar into a coffee table, you are a great player and teacher. Best on KZread !

Gran profesor, sir
Some are teachers and some are doers. You are both. Great video!
This is so tremendous! Thank you for such an accessible, in-depth lesson!
Gilmore is also my all time guitar hero,I never imagined I'd ever get my head around soloing in his style, but you've made that possible! Thanks Steve, nobody has been able to teach me how, like you.
This lesson has done so much for my David Gilmour style playing! Thank you Steve!
Excellent Lesson. So many little things that make the techniques sound better.
Steve Stine is such an awesome teacher. Thank you for your services dude!
Best lesson ever! Thank you. Your breakdown and demeanor make you such a great teacher.

Great lesson in a great pace. But where is the rest of the breakdown? I could figure it out from your performance at the beginning, but if you have it recorded and somehow just failed to upload it, please give us the rest of the lesson :-)
David could express so much while playing so minimally. He was proof positive you didn't need lightning-fast Malmsteen-esque licks to play a memorable solo. His tone, vibrato and feel were unique in every sense of the word.

One of the few who could literally put his human voice in his guitar; unmistakably his own personal expression.
Oh!? *.gasp.* Gilmour's Comfortably Numb! One of my favourite songs! (and guitar pieces) of all time. Thank you again.

Same man! I did a cover on it and every time i pick up my guitar that's what I start off with! It's my favorite one! :)
Nice lesson without the lecture or theory on playing, right to the point and well explained great lesson Steve thanks for the insight with your lesson
Great lesson I am big fan of Gilmour got the chance to hear him live 2 years ago just a sweet sweet tone amazing player, thank you for your online lessons, brilliant ,
Thanks Steve just starting out working on my soloing at this song is one of my favorite and you made it attainable for me still working on pentatonic wow. Once again thanks
I like Steve Stine guitar lessons..full knowledge & technic
Gilmour - feels the music + skill = Tasteful! The name of the song track is "Comfortably Numb"
Great lesson! Thanks for this insight. Keep rockin: you're great!
Cracking lesson, what I like about this guy is he makes me think about what I'm doing and personalize it rather than regurgitating. Nice one mate.
My little Peavey amp imitates David's guitar amazingly for what it is. I stumbled on the sound by mistake. I/m a very green beginner but even without knowing a single note I can (kinda LOL) imitate at least the sound. I'm stoked!!! Thanx for sharing your generous teaching and playing skills and keeping us novices interested and amazed and inspired!

Awesome Guitar playing Steve , can’t say enough about how great your technique and training is, thank you
brilliant explanation of some basic stuff Steve, thank you sir
Fabulous lesson covering my favorite guitarist of all time and the reason I bought a guitar in the first place. There's something about David Gilmour's playing that I can't put into words. He's not the fastest or anything near it...he just has this maniacal feel to his notes..... Yet always lets it breathe in between, and plays every note that he does play, better than anybody.
the song Marooned is one of my all time favorites. Mr. Gilmour's whole soul is out and walking around on that masterpiece.
Hey Steve, The planets must have lined up for me on this one. That was one of the most memorable rides I've ever heard. Learned more from this one partial lesson than I've learned in the last 30 years. I'm signing up for this Series. The string bends also have my finger tips in the most pain I've had in 30 years. Thank you for the inspiration.
if your guitar needs to become a coffee table mine has to be toothpicks and the strings dental floss :D
I agree..please do a lesson on sweeping. I really struggle with this and would enjoy your perspective and technique on sweeps.
I've never saw tuition as good as this , ever....very much respect to you and your talent for others Steve. I actually saw Floyd in 73 Knebworth, London. Still a massive fan of them, mainly Dave himself. Jono, Glasgow, Scotland. Loving all the videos I've seen so far....Rock on man.🎸☠️
Your lessons are beyond awesome ! thank you !
Such an amazing job Steve!! Thank you!!!
Really great one Steve! You're a good teacher!
Great teaching never gets old. Thanks for this.
Excellent job. one of the best i have seen.
Thanks for this excellent lesson.😎
great lesson! so helpful! thank you!
love the way you sprinkle in the theory. Way cool solo.
Your going to be on my mind every minute so I make damn sure I get cemented into your program. And your guitar sounds spot on with what my ear searches fore.
Steve great job here. I listen to riffs like this and they seem unattainable- like they are from another planet. You give me the technique, and confidence to believe that I can do this too. Thank you

Good lesson. Thanks!!!
Grazie. I'll try to do it
Thanks for a great lesson. You have the teaching style that works. Just like the person below said, you have this great demeanour. Great job.
Thanks, great lesson !
I want to write more but it's 4.40 AM and I'm barely able to stay awake lol, So I'll just say, LOVE your style of teaching. Liked, subbed and I can't wait til I've slept so I can watch this WITH my guitar an follow along (til I've learnt a slightly simplified version of this) TY, and Goodnight Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 😌
Steve, I have a family member that was asking about youtube guitar lessons. He wanted to know who was the best teacher / player on the Internet so I I sent him to you. I've watched a lot of videos but yours are, hands down, the best going!! Nice work my man. By the way - your vibrato technique is "all that"... LOL!!
great video Steve, thanks
Thanks for this fantastic video. It was very useful when you would explain what you were doing instead of just playing and thinking the viewers knew what you were doing and which string you are on.
Beautiful!!!!
great lessons boss
it is all about phrasing and nuance...gilmour is my biggest influence and to me the best.
@1Aldreth

+J.T. Bomar true. sure you can have those shred sections, but nothing beats a clear constructed slower beautiful solo. and to do that you have to understand that less is more in most cases. phrasing is probably the main aspect of learning this type of solo.
@dishwad
8 жыл бұрын
+1Aldreth Agreed. In my own opinion many of us tend not to appreciate what's in between the notes as much as we should. Less can be more, and the best solo isn't the one that shreds the hardest, but rather, the one that does the best job at conveying emotion while making that instrument really sing.

Awesome Steve....
Great stuff. I know he does on-line but I seriously wish I could find a guitar teacher like Steve locally. Doesn't over or under teach, let's you focus on progress and technique, and teaches at all levels. Definitely not my experience at the local GC. Thanks Steve.
Cool tattoo :) Thanks for uploading: you nailed it ! \m/
That is some beautiful playing Steve. I wish this lesson went all the way to the end of your solo

Beautifully played sir. DG is probably my favorite classic rock player. Very lyrical. Amazing how much he could wring out of what are basically minor pentatonic licks. I find do a vibrato on top of a big bend very difficult. But part of the fun of being a hobby player is learning this stuff makes me appreciate the masters of the craft even more. Inc guys like you. Thank for your vids. Lot of fun.
OMG, I have been playing for decades and have hit a rut!. I have been searching for the words to say how I feel and you NAILED IT. I feel like turning my guitars into coffee tables as well. That is Metallica.....sad but true. Enjoyed!
comfortably numb. second solo. that's not just in the style of gilmour. that IS gilmour.
@pauljames7259

He's got parts of the studio version, the Live Pulse version and inter mixed portion of the Light and Dark solos from each. You are right, that IS Gilmour but it would be pretty difficult to highlight the "style" of such a unique player as Gilmour without actually playing some actual Gilmour.

very good!!keeps me off the street for a while thanks very much, good teacher, but is there an other lesson for the last part of the solo?? all the best, Charlie

Hello, Steve, I really like this video, it's exactly what I was looking for. Where can I get the complete video? Greetings from Germany - Harald
Steve, really enjoyed this lessons, as well as many of your other lessons. Is your Masterclass series still available? If so, where can I get it? Thanks.
damn. That was nice!
Awesome sir, please provide this backing track for practice, thanks
I have to get a new neck for my Telecaster so I can get more out of this instruction, I have a Yamaha 200n silent in the apartment, and that little amp and with head phones it gets the job done and yes in look it at the course.
I agree, best lesson ever. However Steve, the last part of the solo of the video is missing, as you probably know. It's very , very pity because it is an important part. What can I do? Could you please help me. Regards from the Netherlands.
you are one hellova teacher
