Hi Jamie, thank you for the great lesson. Love your teaching so far. I put my guitar away many years ago (I'm 73) but you've given me encouragement to break it out again and try these picking patterns. I'm from the folk music era, so these should work with lots of songs from those years. Thanks again and best wishes.

You have a captivating voice! I am just now at 50, learning to play the guitar. I have been practicing every night before I go to bed and then I'll watch a few instructional videos before going to sleep. Tonight after practicing I came across this video and I really enjoyed watching it but I had a long day at work and I fell asleep in the middle of it but then was awaken by your singing. The sound of your voice completely captured my attention. You have such a beautiful voice! I listened to you sing a few times and I enjoyed it more each time I listened to it. I will be subscribing to your channel and I will be looking forward to seeing and hearing more videos from you.

Great lesson again Jamie, thanks. And that voice... yum. I love both of theses patterns they are staples of my practise routine. I practise them with a metronome on my phone, (yuck, unintended alliteration there), starting off at 60 bpm. I’ve been doin this for a while now and I find playing these patters really slowly and accurately more difficult than playing them faster. For some reason I naturally pick at 120 & 180 bpm, all the others I have to work at. When ever I learn a new pattern I always start he metronome at 60 bpm and the up it by 10 bpm as I get each speed down pat. Trying to play a new pattern at 120, 180, or 240 always goes wrong for me. Trying to go from 60 to 120 bpm in one jump goes wrong too, but going 60 to 70 to 80 etc, to 120 is easy, almost unnoticeable increase in difficulty. Before I know it I’ve gone fro to 60 bpm to what ever my target is... don’t often get to 240... and I find anything beyond that really challenging. I find the metronome really keeps my timing spot on, right from the beginning, no having to go back and even the pattern out. Great Vid. Great voice. Love your work mam. TimC

Glad you're enjoying the videos. Metronomes can be great tools and starting at a slow speed and working up to a faster speed is always best.
