I have developed terrible neuropathy during my treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma. Climbing stairs has become a tremendous challenge despite having been an active 47-year-old prior to this. I noticed a few months into treatment that my feet were not lifting as much as I walked and that I would trip over cracks in the sidewalk. I have been so frustrated that I have developed drop foot as well. Today I received trekking poles that I ordered to give me more support so I can walk with some more confidence. My husband found your video on trekking poles to teach me how to use them. I have now gone down the rabbit hole of watching many of your videos. Thank you for sharing this information on KZread to help others like me.

My kid’s dad had the same issue during treatment for a brain tumor. We never figured out if it was a neurological thing or from treatment. For about a month he could only slide but after treatment it did improve, where no other neurological symptoms did. He walked almost normally for a while after, so there is some hope. Good luck

@@BobandBrad I understand. I think we all just miss him and being that he is a co-founder of the channel, we all want to honor his work by your cute jingle.
Wish I had seen this last month. I had a bad fall last week. 100% because of the way I walk. I also now know why I have an ache at the front of my right leg. I do love you guys but I am 65 and everytime I watch you I have to add another few exercises to my day😂
Thanks, guys! I needed this! I’m 66 and for many years the joke about me is that I can trip on air. I did a face- first splat on smooth tile floor (no injuries other than my dignity) and FINALLY realized that I have a little bit of foot drop in my left foot! Now, when I walk, I recite “heel, toe, heel, toe”to myself.
Another tip I would give is to walk slower. The times I fell, I was rushing to get somewhere and didn’t pay attention to what was in front of me. I stepped in a hole at the park. I tripped over a wagon handle when doing home repairs. I rushed and fell when the dog wrapped her leash around my legs. Look down.
About 90% of my geriatric patients have a difficult time with a heel to toe gait pattern . This is an excellent exercise to help prevent a shuffling, flat-foot gait pattern that almost always leads to falls.
I was involved in a severe car accident in 1993. I had a TBI on the left side of my body. This affected my right side. I had drop foot because of it. I went through therapy and got better at walking. As the years passed I struggled with depression and weight gain. This caused me to go back to old habits. I have lost 50 pounds leaving me 25 more to reach my goal. I have been falling and tripping so I am going to use your advice to help me stop falling. Thanks.
I'm a 57 yo man with Parkinson's diagnosed in 2017. I'm finding your exercise videos very helpful! Thank you!

I had a TKR in January and prior to that had been on crutches. I have not heard of this but took a nasty fall a couple of days ago. Face planted on the sidewalk. I will start doing these as I have noticed that I felt like I was stumbling over my own feet. I’m very sure this is why I fell. Thank you for sharing this information with all of us! AMEN for special people like you! You really do care about your patients! Thanks!

Sorry you had the facevplant! They are a huge shock to the system and the face damage can be bad.
Wow: You guys nailed it! Years before recent hip replacement, I’ve been asking physical therapists to help me understand and correct my perception of uneven gait. Since surgery and walking for exercise I have realized that the toes of foot opposite surgical leg are profoundly weak and cannot bear my weight as I step forward with it. This week I brought this fact to PT and was given standing heel raises. I’m sure this will help too, but am amazed and thankful that you have presented this video. I’m on it❣️

This is fantastic advice for seniors to improve walking and minimize falls. 3 - 4 days a week I would walk at least 2 miles in my neighborhood for exercise. One afternoon I tripped while power walking and was injured. Luckily I did not break any bones, but the fear of another dalk kept me from walking for exercise again. I became acutely aware of my walking and determined I was not picking up my right foot enough and causing me to trip. I will do the recommended exercise and post again after a month to report if my walking has improved. Great video.

Tried quite a few exercises to aid my recovery, this exercise is extremely effective and I thoroughly reccomend it, thanks for posting it up.
Thank you, as ever, for useful information. I, too, miss the Bob and Brad intro. It made me smile.
A lot of seniors need to walk barefooted sometimes to rebalance your feet. You lose the balance after you tran your selfs to have shoes on. Sterch and use your toe muscles as well .Thank you Bob and Brad. Love you guys ❤❤️❤️❤️
I love these videos they have helped me so much I pray for Bob and Brad as a team ❤
I am so glad to have found this exercise, and your channel. I teach a Balance Class at a Seniors’ Centre where I volunteer. Most of my class are sort of in between when it comes to this exercise: the standing version would be a bit too challenging for many of them, but few of them will have a walking stick at home just yet. So, I’m suggesting that they loop a leather belt or an resistance band around their foot to lift it instead. I’ve tried that out myself and it seems to work well.
I recently watched another video on this very topic/exercise(s). I was not uncomfortable doing all the way to advanced (thank you snowshoeing I think) BUT I had noticed that walking on game trails on my rural property I was "stubbing my toes" more. Just being aware helped me to adjust to picking up my toes and what a difference. I am nearly 68 but walk on game trails (uneven ground, rocks, roots, downfall) 2 plus miles daily and this past winter with excellent snow (NW Montana), I snowshoed the same distance. At any rate, I think both muscle strength AND in my case awareness are crucial - thank you!!

Good morning,oh we miss Bob so much.Sending him much love .It’s just not the same , you guys had such a unique rapport.
As a person with MS who tends to have a little drop foot on the right when I've walked too much or my heat sensitivity (like the 100 degree days we've had lately), I needed to see this now. Thank you guys!
Great advice. Thanks. Please convey warm best wishes to Brad. Miss him.
Thank you so much for this info I started limping about 5 years ago now I can not use my left leg for walking thinking this might be one of the reasons for my leg weakness sending some love to Bob ❤❤❤
Excellent exercise for this muscle, guys. I've been walking 10Ks a day for 20+ years (I'm 57) and have never paid attention to this muscle, and now that I think of it I do have occasional pain there, in one leg mostly. So I think my gait is off too. I will start doing these and work on my gait. Thanks for making me aware. You guys are amazing. Lots of love to you guys, and Bob, of course!

This does really work. I found myself tripping over things that I couldn’t believe I did and stubbing my toes (yeah, IK, I’m a southerner and walk barefoot a lot). The 3rd day of managing 20 on the wall, already huuuuge difference. That’s what I like to see, quick results. IK it’s not always possible but it’s certainly a motivator to keep doing it. Great tutorial gents!
