Olight i3E EOS
One of the items I never leave home without is a flashlight of some kind. Normally I carry a Fenix PD35R as my everyday carry flashlight on the job, and sometimes away from the job as well. However, that light is pretty large to carry around if you're going out to eat or engaged in some other social activity. So, I decided to take a closer look at some keychain flashlights available on the market today. I am starting with the Olight i3E EOS. Some of the biggest positives with this flashlight are the price, compact size, and decent lumen count for an edc flashlight. Overall, my impression of this little flashlight is pretty positive. I will be checking out some other keychain flashlights in the coming weeks and months, but this light is a good start.

Great review of a nice little light. I've had one of these in my pocket for a few years. It's fallen off ladders, hit by a dropped hammer and survived. I lost it on a rooftop from Thanksgiving, and bought another. Then after months of snow & rain, I found the original in a rooftop drain. Still works!
I must have purchased 20 of these for last Christmas season as gifts for the entire family and many friends. The key thing is not to unloosen the head to much when turning it off. You can lose the head in your pocket and then of course lose it later during a pocket dump. One method if you don’t use it all of the time is wrap a small length of electrical tape around it at the head. I love this light for personal use and use a rechargeable battery instead of alkaline. The best use is car to door at night. That 20-30 steps is so much better then using the iPhone to see
This is a great backup flashlight! I carry usb & rechargeable lights but if they are dead and charging, its good to have a AAA battery light as a backup to feel the gap. I own two of these and one UV version. Almost lost the head off one twice. It worked its way off/unthread. So I placed a small bit of “plumber’s tape” on the threads and it has come off yet.
They are great little lights for the money. I’ve had the same one on my keys for over three years now and it’s still going strong.
I have had one of these on my keychain for years, and it is the flashlight I use the most, because it is the one I have with me always.
A push button will also switch on when on your keychain without a lock mechanism. In my experience it does not switch on in my pocket, never has.

I can see that. The threads felt pretty tight, so I'm thinking it will hold up pretty well over time.
Glad you are back and glad to see you are doing flashlight reviews. I have the Streamlight Microstream AAA. While the lumens are less then the Olight (45 lumens), I like the pushbutton feature because I can click it on or push it lightly for quick on and off one handed. The pocket clip can be used with baseball cap as a pretty decent headlamp.
Cool small light I recently got my first olight in the i3t I believe it's the next step from this one really happy so far may have to grab one of these as a backup
Good video. Glad you see you back at it! Was staring to get concerned there for a bit. Anyway, my preference of keychain lights is for the Olight i1R 2. It’s more compact, rechargeable and doesn’t come apart. Last thing you want when you need your flashlight is to see half of it missing.
Love the vids keep up the great work!
Excellent review. I've had several small rechargeable lights and I wasn't sure what to expect with this little light. Nothing but reliable for me. Even use it for auto repair in tight spaces.

It seems to be a pretty decent keychain light.
Are you still going to do more reviews? I really appreciate the effort and quality of your videos

I am. I’m overloaded with work right now, but I will be back.
I love this little light. Another big plus, it fits in the elastic outside pocket of the Leatherman medium sheath for the Wave Charge, etc. like a glove. As if it was made for it.

I have had issues in the pocket with the cap coming loose on me, I think it would work better in the side pouch.

OK. That's surprising. Never had that myself. I have the bit extender on the right and the Olight on the left of the Leatherman (Charge TTI in this case). I put the Olight lens down in the elastic pocket with a small 2" lanyard attached to pull it out quick & easy. It doesn't move or turn at all.
Thank you for the great video as always. I personally carry a nitecore tip on my keychain for the past 4 years and I've had no problems with it whatsoever. Rechargeable a maximum of 360 lumens and a locakable on off button very convenient. Also it comes in various colours to make sure when you're working the job site your gear does not clash LOL
Once it was made by ITP , in upgraded version it had 3 modes lo-mid-hi and it was the best flash light I've ever lost :)
I have been carrying the stream light key mate, and it’s been coming in handy ever since I have bought it..even for my little baby niece, when she gets bored I let her play with it lol
I use the Olight I1R but I have 2 of this model as well :) The I1R pretty much addresses the issues of the EOS; it's smaller, rechargeable, and has a low- and high-mode. The I1R comes at double the price though, unless you get it at a discount or sale.
Waiting to get mine in the mail! I also have a S2R Baton II and a i1R2 eos ! Love olight products! Recently got a Streamlight Key Mate and is very good quality as well!

They are expensive but it’s one of those things you buy once and until you lose it or it dies you need to replace it 😂
Just purchased my first olight that I had been eyeing since it came out, the S1r baton ii is an amazing edc light, great interface, magnetic base, a light powerhouse in your pocket. Recently bought a Perun and a S2r baton ii. Great products worth the money. Buy on eBay, you can find products so much cheaper the retail price!
I’m sure you’re aware of the OLIGHT I1R 2 Eos 150 Lumens. It’s rechargeable as you seem to prefer as well as way brighter but much shorter runtime which is a definite compromise imo. I have a few of the i3E EOS. I also keep wanting improvements! Yet, time and time again I keep coming back to this near perfect mini but mighty! Olight really does have great illumination/brightness in all their lights. I agree about the possible accidental twist on as well as losing the head of the light. Not so much a push button but I would like if it were a solid click on and off. If it were like that plus a hat clip plus a moonlight it would be about perfect! Lol
Best Keychain light for the money hands down. $10 cant go wrong.
You might want to look at a MecArmy X4S. I've had one on my keys for over a year now and really like it. It's smaller than this Olight i3E EOS and comes with a USB rechargeable lithium battery. On high, at 130 lumens, it will last 30 minutes and on the lower setting it's supposed to last 6 hours. I don't remember what the lumens are on the low setting but it's been plenty of light for most of my needs. Little flashlights like these certainly won't replace a full-size one but it's awfully nice to have one for those countless little illumination needs.
Nice looking torch ive always liked the Mini maglite solitaire torch. Solid little torch not the brightest around, but still a nice key chain torch made in the usa also if im not mistaken.
Best key chain I have come across is the Fenix e15. Sorry to see it discontinued:( It fits your like for Fenix. No magnetic base to pull things out of your pocket. Rechargeable battery (usb on battery) Good runtime for it's size. Twist to turn on, no buttons to be accidentally pushed. Same as Maglite Solitaire. Thanks for all your reviews.
Olight's i1R EOS II is rechargeable, has two modes, and cost only 15 bucks. It's shorter than the i3E but has a little bigger diameter. It's also a twisty and comes on at 5 lms, which is good for close up work. Turning it a little farther brings up 150 lms which gives decent reach but doesn't have much run time. It's hard to beat for the price but there's a plethora of competitors to choose from.
I also like the Nitecore Tiki. Its also nice. Concider it as well.
Be careful you don't turn in on accidentally in your pocket. The twist type interface is subject to that. The Olight SR1 Baton is a good choice and it has a lockout feature. Yep, at 2:35 he brings that issue up.
Check out the Fenix E05. Awesome little FL.
Another $3 and you can get a pocket clip for it

You're right as usual, very nice light. I, myself carry the Olight 1R EOS2. It's rechargeable and tiny. Check it out, you'll love it.
I had this lost it it disconnected its self I now use a mcarmy one or olights bigger lights

I’ll be back, working shutdowns right now. COVID restrictions are finally lifting and I’m playing catch up.
I keep my 3E EOS on my keychain and I keep losing the top cap, Eventually it unscrews itself! You can't tighten it because that's the ON position? Don't really want to put it in my pocket.
Great video you should contact olight to see if they can sponsor a video

Wish you showed us the battery installation.
Just bought 2 of these bright as hell. I replaced all my rechargeable lights with regular battery operated lights mostly all from olight. Rechargeable lights are junk in my opinion because the rechargeable batteries have maybe a year of life in them and they can be crazy expensive to replace. I camp a lot and rechargeable lights are inconvenient when im out for 4 or 5 days

That is an excellent point. It would make perfect sense to have a double or triple A light in that scenario.
