Olight i3E EOS Single AAA Keychain Flashlight Review

Ғылым және технология

The Olight i3E EOS single AAA powered keychain flashlight has one mode, but an incredible balanced beam from it's TIR optics. A micro sized design makes it desirable for those who want a standard battery operated light, without over burdening their key chain.

Hi Todderbert, hope you're well. I'm new to Olight, have a couple of models - 1000lm S1R baton II, and the 2300lm H2R (🔥!), both excellent compact EDC flashlights. I 💙 Olight. Many thanks for the review.

I have both the Fenix E05 and the Olight I3T EOS, the two level AAA version with clicky and two-way clip. Each seems to have some distinctions in that the Fenix is definitely smaller and lighter in weight. The Olight feels substantial and the 5 lumen low and 180 lumen high provide a nice balance of extended battery life and amazing brightness for a AAA.

I love mine. It's more than bright enough for an EDC and small enough for a keychain so you always have it somewhere close even if you forget your other flashlights.

Hey toderbert I saw your video on testing a radio to go from Chicago Illinois to Valdosta Georgia. Know in my home town of Baxley Ga. We have a 1000 watt tower 94.5 Hit Kickin country which you can pick up from Valdosta. It would be cool if you did a test to see just how far a fm radio can go.

Nice, an E-skip could happen with a low power station. I was able to receive New Mexico on 22kW, at a distance over 1000 Miles: kzread.info/dash/bejne/opaXzaePebqfk9o.html

i use this Olight i3E EOS Single AAA Keychain Flashlight for my EDC super light weight and easy to find AAA battery, decent 90 lumens. 70min Nimh battery and 45min on alkaline. i leave behind my bigger flashlight. Easy to find AAA battery compare to 18650, CR123a, 21700. No need to bring my powerbank just to charge compare to other flashlights.. Just change AAA alkaline and go for long hiking trips and For everyday i use Nimh batt.

I'm a fan of both types of flashlights. I like to carry a AA backup, and my normal 18650 EDC. I may be moving up to the Compact 21700s out there.

I also have two i3E's and mostly like them for the nice beam pattern. The only thing I have against them is the not-so-great run time. I also have two other Olights: an i1R and an i3T. I love the i1R' functionality. I'm not crazy about the i3T' UI, and its low mode that I consider to be too low for its intended purpose as an outdoor pocket light. I think that is why there is a "T" in the name and why it has a rear clicky switch and a pocket clip. There is just too much clicking required to go between modes on the i3T and the head gets uncomfortably hot, on high, too quickly. It is smooth -nothing to dissipate heat. I've noticed in photos that the i5T also has a smooth head and it has the same click-like-crazy UI. Although I like some things about the brand I'm not a hardcore fanboy. I guess I'm a little too pragmatic to be any company's fanboy. Their marketing scheme of having many of their lights overpriced (IMO) and then having frequent extravagant sales events does not impress me. You have to wait for a sale to avoid being overcharged. And then there is all the proprietary parts associated with their premium lights. All that said, I still would like to own at least one of their premium lights to access the long term quality. I really like the specs of the M2R Pro.

The i3E is awesome. i1REOS would be an excellent comparison. I cannot decide if I prefer usb chargeable or old fashioned batteries. 🤔 Thrunite Ti3 would fit nicely in this comparison as well.

I have to say I have a few of the i3E’s. I actually think I’m gonna spring for a few clips too. A hat clip can really come in handy. I wish it came installed but for 10 bucks what can we say? As far as fire fly mode or moonlight time and time again I find myself not really needing those. It’s kind of like I either need a light or I don’t and when I do significant light is more helpful. Olight somehow has a particularly impressive brightness making even little lights like this seem more powerful than some lights with 120 or 130 lumens. The i1R2 EOS is cool too but the impressive 150 lumens burn out in just 15 minutes. I tend to prefer higher runtimes over higher lumens, within reason. The only thing I wish with the i3E and all twisties is that it would have a solid click on and off.

With all the single AAA lights I own, I find myself still using a Streamlight Microstream. Love the Click switch, and it is just the right fit for my hand.

@@todderbert Really! I’m happy to hear that. I’ve now experienced the Olight keychain lights, Thrunite ti3, Sorfin, Lumintop edc01. With that said the one light I continue looking a lot at is the latest Streamlight microstream usb. I also think the AAA microstream could be a possibility. I got into Streamlight after getting the Protac 1L-1AA. If they improve on that I’ll be eager to see it.
