Old Woodsman's Cleaver Restoration - No Power Tools Restoration

This is my first old woodsman's cleaver restoration! I am very excited for this one. This is a Scandinavian type of barking tool or bark peeler. Mostly they are shaped as axes, but not so often as a cleaver. I am sure this is a barking tool because I purchased it from a guy who works in the forest. I haven't found any markings on the blade, so it could be homemade.
What I really like about this cleaver is the perfect balance between length and the weight. I am imagining several hours working with it without any arm muscle tiredness. Handle is made from walnut what I got from greece friend 2 years ago. This was his first attempt on lathe. Anyway, join me in this step by step restoration video without power tools and stay tuned until the end to see the result!

Hey guys! Welcome to another tool restoration! I wanted to restore this old woodsman's cleaver for a while now. After a year, here it is :) I tried to restore it close as possible to original and painting in blue is result of that. Take care and see you around!

You had me right up to the paint. The handle is beautiful. I would have liked the metal to just been a clear coat or some other kind of protection with a polished collar.

@@FFD_Restorations I'm glad to hear it because that is high quality wood and given the shape that is the style old antique rollers would be like. At least I said I wasn't sure but my reaction was of pure dismay and frankly I'm glad I was wrong. The handle came out well and thankfully you didn't burn or brown it like some people do. I never read video descriptions, it's always someone pushing their twitter, patrion or discord....ahaa
