Someone else did u dirty with this recommendation, Maynard is as good of a singer song writer as anyone, sober live displays Maynards vocal prowess or the grudge where he holds a 28 second growl, then Danny Carey, easily a top 10 drummer showcased in live on pneuma, if your a metal fan, even prog rock they will tie it all together, I've never met a tool fan who likes every single tool track, are liars, bc tool goes to the edge of a ton of different styles but if your a prog rock guy, then it's pneuma live dum cam, think vic firth put it out, showcasing the drums, Maynards live version of sober shows that physical rendition of vocals expressed in his eyes body, spirit, like you can see into his soul...stinkfist is about addiction and how gross it is, not a starter for the tool unitiated....

"Aenema" is beyond amazing. One of my favorite songs ever by anyone. I know it may sound weird but you must see the "Danny Carey Drum Cam" video by Vic Firth sticks. It's a live performance of the wonderful song "Pneuma". You will see why a LOT of people consider him to be one of the best drummers ever. He does things with polyrhythms & weird ever changing time signatures that defy the laws of physics.

I really think that, with how you portray yourself here, what you talk about, "Parabol/Parabola" and "Lateralus" would be perfect Tool songs that would really resonate with you. Even "The Patient" and "The Grudge" Hell, the whole Lateralus album. Definitely their masterpiece.

I added some to my list. I'm excited for more.
Tool is a band that can be enjoyed purely by its musical esthetics, they are the pre djent groove masters. But it can also be enjoyed through the biting human debate that the lyrics bring. If you get to the level where you get both Tools is a truly great musical expression. Immense talent on all levels. But they are also so infuriatingly eccentric you might drop the whole thing and forget all about them. But they need your time to sink in, its not accessible stuff.

I think The Pot is the ultimate Tool starter song. Not too crazy with the time signatures (believe it or not, most of the song is in 4/4 apart from the bridge sections in 3) and nice accessible vocals with wicked bass and simple but effective guitar riffs.
the first time I listened to The Pot, I listened to it 50 times in a row. I was like: WHAAAAAT!!!!!!!
Schism and Sober are 2 great songs. Sober is the one that got me into Tool. 3rd eye is one of my favorites but thats not really a song to do a reaction to, but i recommend checking it out
Tool is something you have to be ready for. But once you get it, you won’t let go.
Brother man, look... TOOL has been the soundtrack of my life since 1993. They are phenomenal musicians individually, but together the music, the production, the live shows - it all really is a maelstrom in a bottle. This track has been said to be their most, "accessible," song and I get where such a label would stem from. It's one of only a few songs in standard 4/4 and has a structure that more closely resembles the verse, chorus, verse, chorus, etc. format, which their most iconic songs purposefully depart from a traditional structure and all of their songs are some combination of poly-rhythmic, odd and contrasting meters, esoteric and ambivalent lyrics, often jarring or "off putting" electro-synth esque sounds that fade in and around the ever building and progressing soundscape of 4 master musicians that continuously rotate their individual contribution into the "lead" or forefront of the music, just ever tumbling and building and always progressing to the most wonderful and rewarding crescendos ever in music - including the classical symphonic works - and that is EVERY SONG. If you really want a listening experience that is truly sonically rewarding, and contains every single element of what TOOL does best, put into a single song - there is no substitute for the live version of their song, "Pushit," that can be found on their live release titled, "Salival." Again the song is Pushit live from the album Salival (at the time TOOL fans were "salivating" for a new release, so TOOL put together an album of live performances ... salivate + live = Salival) Spiral out. Keep going.

Dude, first of all thanks for sharing a bit of yourself! I do plan on doing more. I"m here for it.
If you want heavy tool.... Pick songs off undertow, aenema or opiate.... The Lateralus album is more "floaty". 100000 days album is kinda a mix of both. And Fear innoculum is a mix of Lateralus and 100000 days
Chevelle drew heavy inspiration from Tool. Their earliest album has a couple songs that have a tool sound to them (like Skeptic) They found their own niche eventually
Great reaction. I would recommend 46&2, Lateralus or Ænemia next
I love Tool as well. They arguably have the best drummer in the world. I need to see if you've watched his drum cam...

Glad you gave Tool another listen, dude. Stinkfist is commercially popular but IMO it's not one of their stronger songs. The Pot is a lot more accessible but if you're wanting to go down the rabbit hole and really experience a journey with Tool then 46 and 2 is a good spot to start, same with Lateralus and Schism.
Welcome to the journey. 🙏 Right in Two and Reflection 👍 to start you
Crazy drumming..epic scream..do their song The Grudge! Intense!!
Been a fan for 30 years now. Saw Undertow and Aenima tours in the 90s. No one listens to TOOL you experience TOOL! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

I think you get Chevelle vibe because Chevelle toured with Tool and and Filter and their Hats Off to the Bull album was recorded afterwards. They took a lot of inspiration from Tool on a couple tracks, as well as some Filter!

yasss! Be sure to check the lyrics on this song in your own time, so many great double entendres. Stinkfist is also a great song, you should listen to again on your own time without the music video. It's definitely not the usual introductory song though. Normally we'd start nudging you towards 46&2 or maybe parabol/parabola next. However, if you want some heavier tool, maybe aenema. They really don't have a bad song, and you'll find that some of the best are ones you have to wait to hear and appreciate. Spiral Out!

This world is dark, and I just want people to know how important and valuable they are. Im so glad you are here.
When you heard that scream at the end, it made my day. But my friend, you are not for Maynard's AEnima vocals. His voice was on another planet back in the mid late 90s. AEnima is Tool's best work imo.
Next time go for Tool's song Pneuma (studio version). It's a bit longer song, but again very layery well put together and with amazing progression... You will love that one too. :)
We are the Tool Army and we Spiral Out!!! Do Lateralus and you will find out!!! Lovin the reactions!!!
thank you too man, i appreciate you.
if you go all the way through to all their Masterpieces ....we will be with you here........promised! Watching Tool reaction videos is a normal behavior of the Tool Army 😁.... maybe worth to recommend Danny Carrey´s drum cam video of Pneuma .... it actually shows a lot of what it is all about ......
Keep going!! Spiral out! Keep going!! ahahaha find this in lyrics..
dude wait til you hear The Grudge or Invincible, or Descending :) every song they have is special. Lateralus too.

Hell yea! Much love brother!
Nice production. Thanks for choosing not to pause it every 30 seconds. THIS is the way to do a reaction video. Thanks man.
This is Tool doing a straight up ROCK SONG. It's actually, IMO, not typical for them, they are typically even more progressive than this. It's their "radio song" and it's damn good at what it does, but they are just having fun on this song. It would not be fair to listen to this song and go "well THAT'S Tool, ok". I'm not sure where you should go next, but I think something more adventurous so you can see maybe their other sides. Want more emotional journeys: Pushit (Salival Live Version) OR Wings for Marie (Parts 1 & 2) Want more angry badass: Hooker with a Penis OR Aenima Want more pschyadelic: Third Eye OR Lateralus (the song) Want more solid straight-forward hits: Right in Two OR Vicarious OR Schism
The proper term for the fans of Tool is "The TooL Army" and when listening to their music it referred to as Spiraling Out. But your journey has just begun... I would definitely suggest Parabol/Parabola next. Its a two part song meant to be played together in that order. Lyrics are a must for this but listen again after you get the gist of it to just enjoy the compilation. Spiral out brother

Lateralus, 46 & 2, Sober.. try those. I recommend lyrics also. :) Lateralus is *chef's kiss*
I think you're finding that TOOL groove! They are masters of their craft, and while it is typically a slow burn, the payout at the end of their songs are completely worth it. Plus, to your Chevelle comment, they regularly get compared to TOOL so you were spot on with that! If you dig more of the heavier stuff, I'd suggest Jambi or The Grudge next.
Come.. swing on the spiral. Love listening to lateralus while high
I used to thought the same about TOOL, never got interested in them until one good day being in boredom i found this song, now they are literally my favorite band ever. Strange, but its a fact that they rock and they deserve at least a try from everybody.
Wow! Loved yr reaction so much! I really like you my new friend. Genuinly. (im a terrible speller 1 day...actually Most days...then Im a spelling wiz. Deal w/it!) Anyway yr a sweethearted guy n yr smart! So yr gonna love TOOL. Smart ppl"ger them" so, see ya on the nxt 1
As with all bands................'Different Strokes, for different folks". Many say this is a song that is their best. I am not one of those. Great song yes, but this is one of Tool's most radio friendly songs. the whole 10,000 Days record is a bit more friendly to the masses, but in my opinion Tool was at their best on Laturalus. pick any song of that record, put on your headphones, turn off the lights, close your eyes and get ready for them to take you on a journey. More Tool. I highly recommend the song Laturalus.
My favorite TOOL song is still 46&2. I'd love a reaction to that one.
It only took watching 1 of your videos for me to sub! I love your energy and purpose here. Thanks man! I always say that it takes listening to a Tool song 3 times to take it all in. Best done in these steps. 1.) No lyrics or videos.... just listen to the music and catch the vibe. 2.) Listen again with lyrics in front of you to understand what's being said.... do research and learn the messages within the song. 3.) Listen a final time while catching the vibe, and applying recently aquired knowledge. Every Tool song is a masterpiece, sometimes you have to understand it, in order to appreciate it. Some people get it.....some people don't. That's why we're Tool fans. We'd love to have you join us in the Tool Army. 🤘 Spiral out friend
Ok, so, going by the way I THINK you enjoy music you might REALLY like "Hooker with a P*enis" or "Ticks and Leeches" from Tool, far more aggressive than most. If you enjoy dope vocals "The Grudge" will do you fine :) Anyway, have fun! Edit: Oh yea, one REALLY oldschool Tool song from their first LP would probably be Hush.. or Jerk-Off. Depends a bit, Jerk-Off was never recorded in a studio, but they did an official recording at a concert.

You're not the first person I've heard make the comparison with Chevelle. Not sure I can put my finger on it exactly as I haven't listened to their music extensively, but at least that's validation that you're not crazy LOL. Anyway, glad to see you opened your mind and are actually digging their music. Tool is a truly special band and you won't regret diving deeper into their catalog.
46&2 is the next logical song in the Tool journey..
Tool is amazing at creating atmosphere within their music. They are a vibe. I think for most people it’s either an deep intense love affair or nothing at all. I don’t meet many lukewarm Tool fans or non-fans.
Wanna hear a badass guttural scream? Listen to the grudge. More Tool please.
When you listen to music honestly, things really open up, and get deeper. A lot of people put limitations on what they like and consume. How is anyone to grow that way. Thanks for giving this band a listen. I appreciate it.
I really hope you’re listening to higher quality than the compressed version I just heard from your video. There is a night and day difference, their music is extremely dynamic with a lot of movement. Jambi.
Hope you continue the Tool journey! Aenima, The Grudge, 46 & 2, Parabol/Parabola would be some good ones for you.

I listen to this band like I listen to Rush. 5 times. The first is just to get a feel for the song. Then the next listenings are vocals/lyrics, drums, bass and guitar.
Nobody plays the double bass as tastefully as Danny Carey.
Vicarious FTW
there is no such a thing like tool's best song cause, each of their songs are journeys. what best for you really depends on what you need as a journey at that time.
Subbed for Tool! I see the Army has arrived. You'll love this journey. Keep going. Looking at your other videos and if you want to go full Tool, start with the first album. There are only 5. They are each really cohesive and follow a type of storyline. The production gets better until you end with a Grammy award winning song. Good call about Chevelle but that's the end of that. You'll have a hard time comparing most of their stuff to anyone else. Do some reading about Maynard. It's almost mandatory so you understand. Everyone will have you check out A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. They are more focused on the vocals. In Tool, Maynard is in the background on stage and the instruments are on balance with his voice. Continue the spiral, my friend.

🌀🌀🌀🙏🙏🙏 thanks! Please, more Tool!
I never forgot Chevelle, dude! I hadn't really connected Chevelle's early stuff to Tool's style but at around 6:20 I could hear it. A lot of the Tool songs I've heard have felt really dense to me because of the tight, very technical composition (with dizzying time changes and polyrhythms) and the smithing of the lyrics with tons of references, metaphors and, yeah, puns. I'm not a fan of ALL their stuff, but I am of a good chunk of it. I am actually not a particular fan of Keenan as a person (I think he's a raunchy, coarse philosopher and I can respect it but don't love it), but his voice is another matter entirely.
Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Danny Cam, Peace/JT
The Pot seems to be the song that gets new people to listen to Tool but it’s definitely not the best song. Descending, Fear Innoculum, Lateralus, Parabola, Vicarious, Wings for Marie pt1 and pt2, Jambi, Flood, Eulogy, Pnuema, are some of my favorites. And Prison Sex even though people don’t tend to react to it because the lyrics are graphic.

This is one of my all-time FAVORITE songs!!! Maynard's voice😢....his VOICE....sends me into goosebumpy madness, coupled with intense energy rushes. IF this doesn't do it, listen to "Pushit" from their live albumn. The studio is good, the reimagined one is....-I have just melted into a delirious puddle, excuse me a moment-....it's quite amazing. The way I discovered the band tool was Chevelle. I love Chevelle and still do and one day I was curious who their influences are and tool was one of them first thought was who names their band tool lol but when I listened to them for the first time and it was the song 46 and 2 I was hooked right away and their voices do sound very similar but Maynard has the better vocal range.
