R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 . Ann was a big Nightwish Fan. And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat. And gave them some info about NW. This was her favorite song. And this song belongs to her. I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.

I think she is. She got cancer, kicked that, pit out a beautiful solo album and put a baby into production and did a ducking symph metal tour. If she just quit today shed still outdo most peoples achievements even if they got to a 100. She is not loved enough in her time. We are blessed to live in her lifetime, its so Dawkinish.

"I can see why you all love Floor". Yes, but what you see here is only half of it. She's an incredibly awesome performer, which could lead to her being a complete prima donna like some famous singers you see these days, but when you see her in interviews and TV appearences, her vlogs on KZread, and anything like that, there is not even a *tiny* bit of that in her. She genuinely comes across as one of the nicest, humblest humans on the planet. That's why I love Floor. I hope she recovers quickly from exhaustion and pregnancy and is back on tour soon. But we'll wait as long as it takes.

That one is amazing. Floor's vocals on that over that heavy riff is hard to beat. She's amazing in concert. Her stage presence, charisma, charm and command - she's mesmerizing - and then her voice sails out like that sometimes. Yeah, I don't know anyone who doesn't fall in love with Floor.

I have known Floor since After Forever, Revamp and have seen them live. I already thought that if Floor was with Nightwish, Nightwish would rise to a higher level. When they were Headliner in Wacken in 2013, it was confirmed. I was one of 82,000 who were there live.

Nightwish Army South Germany Division R.I.P. Ann Waychoff, the mother of the Nightwish Army. She welcomed and greeted everyone who was introduced to Nightwish for the first time, taking care of and chatting with each one. This was her song. General Gabriel has taken over your task today, and he is doing it with the same care and energy that Ann did. So at this point a huge, big thank you to him. Greetings from Germany the lady

They ARE happy. 10 months earlier it was looking like they were going to have to cancel the World Tour they had just started. When Floor joined the band Tuomas was able to open the chest of Tarja songs that had been silent for 8yrs. As you continue, look at Tuomas and his facial expressions when they perform older songs. In The Poet and the Pendulum, the line "1,000 pages of erased text" I have always thought he was saying the band wouldn't be able to perform them again.

My favorite song, and that says A LOT, because there is no such thing as a NW song that I don't love!! This song is so well constructed. Tuomas really is the 'Metal Mozart'! "Sometimes the within is piano black, Piano black over cleansing waters".....I tear up every time these lyrics are sung!

It is A Tribute to the poem in 52 chapters, One for every week of the year, " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman 1819-1892.(one of the co-founders of US poetry). The 7th line of the song is ""Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the Ride""". The extended official studio version of this song has, at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. These lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of the video you just saw. Bucle up, it goes very deep. " I see a slow, simple youngster by a busy street With a begging bowl in his shaking hand Trying to smile but hurting infinitely Nobody notices I do, but walk by An old man gets naked and kisses a model-doll in his attic It's half-light and he's in tears When he finally comes his eyes are cascading I see a beaten dog in a pungent alley He tries to bite me All pride has left his wild drooling eyes I wish I had my leg to spare A mother visits her son, Smiles to him through the bars She's never loved him more An obese girl enters an elevator with me All dressed up fancy A green butterfly on her neck Terribly sweet perfume deafens me She's going to dinner alone That makes her even more beautiful I see a model's face on a brick wall A statue of porcelain perfection beside a violent city kill A city that worships flesh The first thing I ever heard Was a wandering man telling his story It was you, the grass under my bare feet The campfire in the dead of the night The heavenly black of sky and sea It was us Roaming the rainy roads Combing the gilded beaches Waking up to a new gallery of wonders every morn Bathing in places no-one's seen before Shipwrecked on some matt-painted island Clad in nothing but the surf Beauty's finest robe Beyond all mortality we are Swinging in the breath of nature In early air of the dawn of life A sight to silence the heavens I want to travel where life travels Following its permanent lead Where the air tastes like snow music Where grass smells like fresh-born Eden I would pass no man, no stranger, no tragedy or rapture I would bathe in a world of sensation Love, Goodness, and Simplicity (While violated and imprisoned by technology) The thought of my family's graves was the only moment I used to experience true love That love remains infinite As I'll never be the man my father is How can you "just be yourself" When you don't know who you are? Stop saying "I know how you feel" How could anyone know how another feels? Who am I to judge a priest, beggar, whore, politician, wrongdoer? I am, you are, all of them already Dear child, stop working, go play Forget every rule There's no fear in a dream "Is there a village inside this snowflake?" A child asked me "What's the color of our lullaby?" I've never been so close to truth as then I touched its silver lining Death is the winner in any war Nothing noble in dying for your religion For your country For ideology, for faith For another man, yes Paper is dead without words Ink idle without a poem All the world dead without stories Without love and disarming beauty Careless realism costs souls Ever seen the Lord smile? All the care for the world made Beautiful a sad man? Why do we still carry a device of torture around our necks? Oh, how rotten your pre-apocalypse is All you bible-black fools living over nightmare ground I see all those empty cradles and wonder If man will ever change I, too, wish to be a decent manboy But all I am Is smoke and mirrors Still given everything, may I be deservin And there forever remains That change from G to E minor. "

(There is a fan-made "extended version" YT video which has this Wacken 2013 performance with the poem after, dedicated to Ann Waychoff...the late Mother of The Nightwish Army...as this was her favorite song! As Always... This song is for You Ann (mother of Nightwish Army) R.I.P 🤘😔🤘 Your flame and passion lives on in Us 🤘🔥🤘. Ann Waychoff was known by many as the Nightwish Mom. She would give comments to people who reacted to Nightwish videos to try and help the reactors understand and she would tirelessly exchange comments with people who wanted to know more. She also communicated privately with a large number of fans and reactors (we know now from the tributes.). kzread.info?search_query=ann+waychoff will show how many knew her and how many liked her enough to spend hours making videos about her/dedicated to her. For me this song has some serious Pantera vibes 🤘🔥🤘. Pure fire and great song!!! PS: Floor not just sings the song, she becomes the song, and that's why we love her !!!! NWSU/FloorFan.

When you decide to check out 'The Poet and the Pendulum' go ahead and do some research into the band's history...very important to know what happened between their first vocalist, Tarja Turunen, and the band when they split, to get the full emotional impact. As far as "The Greatest Show on Earth", Tuomas fits human evolution into a slightly over 20 minutes song, so be prepared, But, imo, TGSoE is Tuomas' magnum opus!

I’m so here for this journey with you! Of all the Nightwish I’ve listened to, I think the only songs I prefer as music videos vs live performances are “Noise,” “Shoemaker” and some other from their latest album, Human Nature, which came out in 2020. The rest I think is all better live. And the only reason I’m saying that Noise and Shoemaker are better as music videos is because the music videos provide a powerful visual component to the storytelling. So if you’re going to react to any music videos, definitely check out Noise and Shoemaker.

This performance is sublime. She shines like a near black ruby emitting a light you have to learn to see. And we have learned. Now Cosmic is learning. I think you are ready for The Greates Show on Earth, but it might break his mind. Being sentimental and tackling the significance of that piece is a huge undertaking, if we are talking as people who immerses ourselves in the depths of music, like we would any Poe novel.

R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 This is your song. If you ever have to explain the Groove in Metal to someone - play this tune. Until the Breakdown hits you with a 10 ton hammer it is all fun and games. But then the slow chugging monster with the machine gun riffing takes over. And for every Metal Head this lights up the day. Awesome….Imho one of the best songs ever. Sometimes the sky is piano black…. Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Valkyries and Stonehenge, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign. Bow, mortal !

No 2 in my favourites list. Marco is superb - I love his second entry (the rising gliss) so much I extracted it and have it as my ringtone. Favourite parts: Piano Black , and particularly the best description of depression I've heard - "sometimes the within is piano black". Piano black - that deep glossy black that almost evades the eye. Emppu holding that long note one-handed as he drinks a Corona. The unexpected pauses (rests) towards the end, particularly, in this performance, when Floor turns her hands upwards and the flames seem to come from her palms. Great chuggy rhythms in the breakdown. Little pizzicato string sections in the run-up to that ending. At the end the lead vocals use the same lyrics as the choir are singing in the earlier parts - "All that great heart lying still and slowly dying All that great heart lying still on an angelwing". That lyric is perfect for the staccato rhythm. ...and lots more

This is one of my three favorite Nightwish songs. The second is "Endlessness" and it kills me that will never be performed live. The third? All the rest of them. There are so many special moments in this song. Jukka wailing away on the drums, everyone singing along, off mike, Marko marching across the stage in time with the music, Floor stalking that mike. But the music, and the lyrics are what truly make this song. it's a masterpiece among masterpieces and a good example of why Tuomas is called "The Metal Mozart." One bit of advice, if I may? Start building playlists of the various groups. It will not only make it easier for you to relisten to your favorites, but it helps those of us who want to suggest additional songs check and see if you have already reacted to the song we are thinking of suggesting.

You miss out on the charisma, stage presence, and the joie de vivre of the live versions. These amazing performers truly love what they do and it shows on their faces. Floor was born to perform live. See how she and all of the members are usually smiling and feeling the music as much as the fans. What's next Cosmic? I will be there. Wouldn't dream of missing out!

That show is such a sight to behold, the lighting, the pyro-technics, and ofc the flawless performance from the band AND the technicians in the background, it is mind blowing. It is very clear why Nightwish is ranked as the best in their field of Metal, the details they take in to account when putting on a show, creating their setlist, it's all top-tier. Now, i mentioned "greatest show on earth" and i also mentioned that we are not there yet, a few songs to go before hitting that HUGE song (20 minutes so...get ready ;) ), but i realized that i did not leave any NW suggestions to hit before hitting that song.. so, here goes : Everdream Nemo Elan Dark chest of wonders Yours is an empty hope (Floor doing growls) High hopes (Pink Floyd cover) Noise (original video first) And ofc, "Greatest show on Earth" (both versions, with Richard Dawkins, and their "home game" at Tampere 2015) (Edit* the song is NOT over when it seems to be over, play the videos till the end so you do not miss out) I did not place any of them in a particular order, and you do not have to do them all before hitting "Greatest show", but i selected these few that, imho, show the huge diversity of the music they create, and.. it is still just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. Man.. you got a long road ahead of you, but it is a road that will take you to sights unimaginable, of depth, discovery, and wonder.. but i am 1000% convinced you'll love every step of the way, as it is pretty dang clear that Nightwish has you in the palm of their hands, like they have all of us here. Lastly.. yes, 3 minute songs, 7 minute songs, 10 or even 20 minutes.. it's over before you know it, time is an abstract when Nightwish performs at the peak of their abilities, it just flies by before you know it, to me that is a sign of absolute greatness. Thnx for continuing the journey Cosmic, we "the army" love to share our favorite band with the world, and when they get a reception like you gave them, we are just like children, giddy and happy to have captured yet another "soul for Valhalla".
