Officials: Owner of exploding Clinton Twp. building arrested while trying to leave US
The owner of a suburban Detroit business that caught fire and exploded, killing a man, was arrested at a New York airport as he was preparing to depart for Hong Kong on a one-way ticket, authorities said Friday.

Why would the owner blow up his own building? I’m not questioning his guilty or recklessness or negligence just curious about more details. So from what I understand he was illegally storing some type of very flammable cans?? And the business NEXT to his caught fire and when fire made its way to these cans that triggered explosion? So he was fleeing bc he knows he will be in trouble bc of the cans especially since one killed a boy? What caused fire in the first place though?? And let me know if I misinterpreted any of these details

As @infinidominion 's reply states, insurance claim/ scam. For the most part they go unnoticed as arson, it all depends on certain criteria if it is even thoroughly investigated. As far as the charge sheet stands as of this report, it is the highest application under the color of law which can apply at this time due to the illegality of wanton actions which directly resulted in someone's death. same thing applies to traffic-related fatalities.

Knowing what he was storing inside and the potential risk of a catastrophic explosion( which occurred), i highly doubt if the owner had half a 🧠, that he would take these measures for the ends.

Right, it's very cold. it boils at -120 degrees F. but any container sealed up and thrown into a fire can burst, just with unpressurized air in it. add the pressurized N2o, it's a big pop. ever throw a spray can in a camp fire? you shouldn't ever, but it happens.
