This song just breaks my heart (but in a good way). "How shall I win back your heart, which was mine? I have broken bones and tattered clothes. I've run out of time." The imagery of that line alone.....man... 😭

This song gives me chills every time I hear it. Also, this video is simple but amazing. When the petals are falling upwards and you see them singing, they actually learned how to sing those words backwards, so when they ‘rewound’ that footage to make the petals go up instead of down it looks like they are singing the words. Obviously if they just sang it normally, it would look strange when they played the song on top of the video on those bits. So they learned to ‘sing it backwards’ so it looked how it should. That’s skills right there! Can’t wait for their new album. I love introducing people to pentatonix. I love watching their reaction to just how amazing they are ☺️☺️☺️

You ain't "weird" my friend. Evoking strong emotions is what a great song and great performance is supposed to do. Emotion is what separates "good" from "great" This makes me feel like, after a long, dark, hard, cold journey, you're entering a warm, well lit house filled with loved ones, good food and drink...all the things that so make that journey worth it.

This is a song of pure desperation.. How do I win back your heart which was mine? I'll break down the gates of heaven. Break my shackles and set me free.. I'll Run To You. You can feel the pain in the dissonant chords they create, it has always amazed me how intricate their voicings are to create that feeling with just 5, sometimes 4 voices!! Always waiting for your next reactions, my dude. Keep it up!

I agree with everything you said. And for me, having Kevin sing with them without the beat boxing, adds a richness to their sound that fills my ears and soothes my soul. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I saw them perform this in concert a few years ago, when Avi was still with the group, and when they started singing this you could have heard a pin drop in the audience of thousands. At the end the silence lasted a few more seconds and it felt like the entire arena took a breath at the same time, then started cheering. It was one of the most surreal beautiful things I've ever experienced.

PTX is a gift. I didn’t pay attention for years only diving in earlier this year (pre-pandemic) but now I think that was by design. I’ve needed Pentatonix & reactions to their music this year. I needed reassurance that beauty, love & peace still exists. That art is alive & well even if you have to search a bit. I get your analogy. They are a warm weighted blanket that we didn’t realize how much tension & exhaustion we were carrying around this year. Hell, for 4 years. There’s nothing like cranking their music thru good headphones, without interruptions and then finding a friend to watch it with you. Some KZread reactors are friends we turn to to watch their face as they experience incredible music. Will you react the way I did? Will you hear those hidden gems I could hear? Like all Pentaholics I watch lots of reaction videos. You are one that I turn to, like listening to music with a friend. Like the last 4 years today was tough & exhausting. I usually don’t comment like this. But I needed some hot chocolate and a warm blanket to share great music with a friend. I don’t care to hear from others who choose to won’t get it. Keep it to yourself. I’m busy hanging with DramaSyd ☮️💟

The are a phenomenal group, and have many fabulous songs, but this has to be one the very best for showcasing how truly talented they are. It's one of their original songs, and it's stripped back and raw in a way the more polished covers just can quite achieve. Gives me chills every time the hit the part about breaking down the gates of heaven.

Theres some science behind this believe it or not. Deep rich voices like Avis or say Morgan Freeman, actually cause visceral reactions in people. The way Avis melodious deep voice underpins everyone elses, especially in opposition to Mitchs clear high tenor is one reason their songs often make us cry or shiver. Probably too much info. But it fascinates me

I miss Pentatonix original music. Aside from one Christmas song, they haven't really put out any original music since Avi Left. Their first original album was #1 on the charts in 2015, and before Avi announced he was leaving they said they were working on the 2nd original album, but we haven't heard a peep about more in years. It seems they not only lost their bass, but their main writing, considering Avi is already putting out his second original album since he left.

Great reaction to a beautiful song. It's my belief that their early songs had such power and depth because of the influence of Avi. He wrote this and with Kevin, arranged it (although they all have input in their arrangements). It is one of the few songs that Kevin does not beatbox in, and the 5 part harmony is so strong. It flows from perfect harmony to crushing dissonance in waves. That very last chord, when they are humming, always gets me - it ends on a question. By the way - to sing while the flakes are rising, they learned to mouth the words of the chorus backwards (there are only 4 words, so it wasn't too hard). Then they played them singing over the video.

Music evokes emotion. And people may assign different memories to it. How can I live without you can be love song for one, and a break up song for another. Actually, at their concerts, they take a break towards the end, circle around one mike, while the stadium goes quiet, and they sing this all quiet, almost reverent. It’s my #1 fave song they do. I believe it’s an original. If you’re curious, I made a video of them at the concert when they came to my city. I was about 2 rows back. This is one of a handful of Pentatonix performances which have no beatboxing or vocal instrumentation, just five vocals, intricately woven together, and they are among the most amazing of all of their performances. "Can't Help Falling in Love" (which has an official video) and "Over the Rainbow" (which does not have an official video) are two others, and they contain some of the most gorgeous chords of any Pentatonix productions. (The version of "Over the Rainbow" to which I am referring is the one off of their 2017 EP, not the far earlier, and far inferior, version with them sitting on a staircase.)

DS, it's me again. If you want me to shut up I will but I just want to say that you are not weird man or maybe you are because your words get to me and I feel much as you do about their music. I just loved the bit about a nice warm blanket around the shoulders. So true. By the way, I have always been told that I'm weird different, odd etc. But a kind friend said no, you are unique and I realised that I am. And so are you. You are deep, sensitive and you have a sense of humour. I think you are great...keep it up and don't change! By the way, I believe Avi and Kevin wrote this song which makes it even extra special.

The mid section is a nice choral, and this song shows Avi's amazing range.

I feel like this song is a love song. I don't know if it's about human love lost and the determination to bare all and leave your heart to their mercy, or if it's a love song to God.. with the above-mentioned intent? I feel like I'm battered, have been willful and foolish, and suffered for those decisions. Yet, I'm willing to fight any battle I must to get to Him and throw myself on His mercy. Either way, it's an original. It's so moving and it's a love song. 💖

Your description of how this song feels to you was only matched by their imagery in the vocals and visuals. 🥰😲

I probably commented on this when you first reacted to it. But i love your reaction and your take on the lyrics and how it made you feel. I wanted to have this song in my wedding because of how well the love is explained, but it was a little too somber for the theme i was going for! It is a beautiful love song. The chords are so magnificent and creative. I love it.

The new holiday album is out now. The first video, God Only Knows (the old Beach Boy's classic), is stunning.

Several years ago at a PTX show, Avi blew out the sound system (lol.) With no mics, they succeeded in shutting up the crowd enough to sing this song in a hall sans sound system. Fast forward to June of '19, and here's the recording of PTX in a pin-drop-quiet Madison Square Garden - singing Run to You. it's so quiet you can hear a fan weeping. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKOirK-FpJuedbQ.html
