I believe it's time for me to be famous
And out of place.
I believe it's time for me to move for forward
When I break through.
When I break through.
When I break through.
When I break through.
This time I'll make you
Proud to see me over come on day light.
Proud of who you raised.
Your shelter, your peacefulness.
So this time I'll make you proud.
Proud of who you raised up.
You know that I will always be here 'til the end.
Come back so I can say thank you for this.
Home cooked meals and a place to rest
My troubled head when you're away.
I've passed the test, I've earned an A,
Not just in school, but in life.
You'll always be right by my side
To help me show hope to all
That are lost and sick in this dying world.
I'll use the love you left behind,
I'll change their minds, I'll change their minds.
I hope, I hope you smile
When you look down on me.
I hope you smile.
This can't, we won't know.
I hope that I make you proud.
This is not what it is, only baby scars.
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side.
This is not what it is, only baby scars.
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side.
This is not what it is, only baby scars.
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side.

Story time: I was in Afghanistan on a base and found an iPod in the gym near the squat rack. It was a small silver square shuffle (buttons only) with pink earbuds. I told the guy working to put a sign up and where to find me if someone came looking for it. After 4 weeks no one claimed it. I decided to finally see what music was on it. THIS WAS THE FIRST SONG IT PLAYED. You know how hard it was to figure out what sing this was?! Anyways, rock on. Kick ass. And do work.

This is one of the greatest love songs of all time. Not between the obvious "boy and girl" trope but mother and son which is, as the song makes clear, something so powerful to change lives and move worlds. If you don't shed a tear when the old man holds his red super hero cape for a final time you have no soul. Epic.

While I do agree Pauley is doing a kick ass job with what hes given and I love his vocals, the band will never amount to what it did with Austin and more so with Shayley. Now for me it was the instrumentation and the smooth and rough vocals mixed so perfectly that made the band. Shay and Austin was just so important to the whole thing. Also yes Austin is understandable if you read the lyrics and arent a lazy piece of shit.

One of the only songs that can genuinely make me tear up. Once the song hits "I hope I make you proud..." and on, it really gets me. It's so well-written in lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals, but that type of perfection can only be written through true emotion. The message of the song is positive--him [Austin] honoring his mother, remembering her, finding happiness and success, and finding peace and acceptance in her death yet has those raw undertones of pain, sorrow, and how much he misses her.

your comment is fairly old, but this song is forever so who cares. I'm completely with you. There's just so much emotion there expressed beautifully. unrelated but also completely related, i recently discovered Lorna Shore and their pain remains trilogy (last three songs of the pain remains album) absolutely hit the same spot. The whole album is extremely emotional but the last three songs always put me over the edge. As you implied, very few songs are able to hit so down to the core and it's so magical when it happens so i wanted to share

OM&M left a bad taste in my mouth after Carlile left the band and became a Jesus freak and says "the ten years in the band were the worst ten years of my life." Ok that's fine dude, but don't make it sound like the band was the reason it was so bad, you treated your bodily horribly and were addicted to drugs and alcohol. Worst ten years of your life because you chose to make it that way, the devil didn't do anything to him, it's called being a human. Humans are different people when money, drugs and sex are presented constantly. Carlile needs to say the truth which is, he wasn't a strong enough person to turn down temptation. Glad he's gone, good riddance, saw the band live last month and they are doing just fine without him.

This takes me back. I was in high school when this song came out. I remember hearing this and gave my mother a hug. Then a couple years later (2012) I lost my mother I was 17 years old. Now I understand this song more than ever. I can connect with the pain and anger in his vocals. So much passion. My advice to the younger lads and those who still have their parents, dont take it for granted. Especially your mother. Love your mother with all your heart.

August 11, 2019 I lost my father. He was riding his bike in Natchez Trace, which is what he loved doing, and had a massive heart attack and died almost instantly. I wish I could see him one more time, give him a hug, tell him I love him, or call him. Sitting in the hospital next to his body really wrecked me and I just wish he was here so bad. I know this song is more about losing a mother, but it really has me thinking about my Dad. I sure hope I do nothing but make him proud and smile. I really pray that I will one day see him again. But for now this song will always hit me a little bit differently. Todd Hunter Binkley, thank you for being an amazing father and I hope I do knowing but make you proud of the son you raised in me. Rest In Peace you beautiful soul, I love you!

Yes, that's the reason that Austin wrote the song, however music always has a different interpretation to the listener. Personally, I see this song as him telling people to hold the people that you love close to you, and to never forget the people they made you into, because one day they will be gone and you want bright memories to fill the space they once were.

2007-2011 were the golden years of metalcore IMO. Nowadays it seems like the bands that are still around from the mid-late 2000's are trying to incorporate too much pop while trying to be heavy, the screamers have worn their voices so much that when they do their cleans (or perform live), you can tell they're struggling, or they've done a genre-shift to a sound that does not appeal to *me.* Will miss these days.

That new track probably isn't how the whole album will be. They are touring with slipknot so they probably will have a few slipknot-esq songs.

TheNamelessYeti I don't expect the whole album to be like that. But when they have an album tour with slipknot, they should have some songs the slipknot fans will like. I can't stand slipknot, but its business to sell more albums in the long run.
